  1. It is absolutely insane that this would bother anyone.
  2. "For example, if I boo Lauryn Hill when she opens for OutKast, I'm not booing her per se, I'm booing the decision making process that led to her being there in the first place. It's not her fault that her music is unpleasant and execrable, she's likely doing the best she can. That doesn't mean that I can't let my displeasure be known in the hopes that the same mistake won't be made in the future. Perhaps that hope is unlikely to come to fruition, but it's all anybody can really do in the moment. " This is a pretty stunning example of rationalizing boorish behavior. Congratulations!
  3. Where the heck did Eric and Ashlee come from. They made up a lot of ground quickly. Just voted again.
  4. Crap, Todd and Mandy just aren't going away. It's now 21% to 20%.
  5. Geez, Todd and Mandy are really starting to close the gap. Homer, beer me again!
  6. Yep, you can vote once every 24 hours per IP address.
  7. I wouldn't want him, especially at his salary. He is way overpaid for what he produces.
  8. The last thing we need is a low-OBP guy with no power. We'd need to get some pretty decent pitching to make this worthwhile.

  10. Who knows? Performance always varies. I guess I'm thinking future Lester will be closer to this year than previous years - esp. the year he had lymphoma. He's noticeably bigger and stronger than he used to be - probably a result of just being healthy. Sure, he could fall back somewhat next year but I guess we'll see.
  11. I think Lester is for real. His health issues in the past were probably part of it. He was throwing harder this year, his control improved, and his K's were up. I don't think its a matter of being lucky. Carmona didn't strike many guys out last year, which is part of the reason people thought he might not be the real thing.
  12. Yeah, I agree with you - which is why I was a little skeptical from the beginning. I just mentioned it here to see if there were any other sources on it.
  13. Agreed. There's no way Boston is moving Lester. You're probably right that this one has no teeth. If it did, it would have been reported on (or blogged about) elsewhere by now.
  14. Also liked The Ring (first one, the sequel sucked), and The Descent. Frailty was also a good one, though not sure I'd call it a "horror" movie. Others I've like include Creepshow, Scream, Alien, An American Werewolf in London and Angel Heart. I've heard that Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, is about as disturbing as it gets. I doubt I'll ever watch that one.
  15. Yeah, with the talk about listening to offers on Fielder, I wonder who they have in mind to take over at 1B if they are able to move him. Hart? Gamel? Nelson?
  16. Good point about Lowell. There has been some conjecture that the Sox might see if they can move him. This trade prob. would not work unless the Sox did that. Could be tough with the contract and the injury. Can't see the Brewers wanting him at that price, although they do need a 3B.
  17. I would take it in a heartbeat. At best, it's probably only a partial description of a possible deal. I'm sure the Brewers would need to give up a little more. There could be nothing at all to this. Just wondering if anyone had heard something similar. Ellsbury fell out of favor a bit as the season went on, and Crisp was playing most of the time in CF. The shine came off Buchholz this year as well. I could see the Sox trading either of them in the right deal.
  18. I doubt there's anything to this, but a co-worker just told me he was listening to WEEI (Boston) this morning and the hosts were discussing the merits of the follwing trade: Fielder to the Sox for Jacoby Ellsbury, Clay Buchholz and Daniel Bard. My co-worker tuned in in the middle of it, so he wasn't sure if there was any basis to it, or if they were just discussing a hypothetical. That sounds insane to me - for the Sox. Anyone heard any similar rumors?
  19. Ok, no biggie. I just hadn't heard about it until the Heyman article. I was a little surprised since I would think Brenly would be the "personable" type that would come across well in interviews. Then again, maybe Melvin just didn't like Brenly's ideas/philosophies.
  20. Ok, but there was nothing in those blogs about Brenly having a "bad" interview. TH thought Brenly was second in line behind Macha.
  21. Really, hadn't heard. I guess you're pretty well-connected.
  22. Macha may be the man for Brewers "The World Series scuttlebutt is that Ken Macha is the favorite to land the Brewers managerial gig, followed by Willie Randolph. Everyone here at the Series seems to know that Bob Brenly had a bad interview in Milwaukee, which may knock him out of the running. If Macha is hired he may need to repair things with catcher Jason Kendall, a prominent member of the A's when Macha was fired there amidst rumors that he wasn't getting along with his boss or the players." No big surprise that Macha is in the lead, but I was surprised to see Randolph as the second choice. http://sportsillustrated....scoop.sabathia/index.html
  23. yeah, they are different players in some ways, but the similarity I saw in the second half this year was a pretty shocking lack of plate discipline. If Hart continues to swing at everything, he won't be any better next year. Hopefully he'll make the adjustment. I've pretty much given up on Hall at this point. He's been "slumping" for too long for me to expect he'll be able to improve his plate discipline. We'll see about Hart. What's a little alarming is that he doesn't seem to think it's a problem and that walks are a bad thing: ""I'm not going to sit there and walk," Hart said." http://www.onmilwaukee.co...cles/nldsnotes100308.html
  24. that's a matter of opinion. it's not perfect by any means of course but plenty of people would disagree. I'll admit I'm suprised that Weeks would have so many OOZ plays, although I don't know enough about that stat to argue with you about it. (how are zones defined, does it take into account shifts, etc.).
