  1. Ommegang Brewery in New York.
  2. Weeks basically stopped running and Cedeno ran into him. This upset Cedeno since Weeks may have braced for the impact a bit with his shoulder.Things would have been fine, but Cedeno apparently said something as Weeks was starting to walk back to the dugout. Weeks turned around and said something like "come on, man" like Cedeno said something stupid, they start arguing (but nothing too confrontational), and then the benches cleared.I liked the guy coming in from the pen way late like he was in the bathroom.
  3. I am drinking a New Belgium Sommersalt. Not impressed. It has almost no flavor at all. I picked up a couple bottles from Chameleon Brewing Company. Hop on Top and Rediculous. I had never heard of it before. It was apparently founded by Randy Sprecher. Founder of Sprecher brewery.
  4. Probably not optimal because Hart and McGehee are better hitters than Lucroy.
  5. If we are playing to win now, we don't really need a CF anywhere near as much as a SS. At least once Morgan is healthy.
  6. Gomez would actually be better in the 6th spot where he can steal bases ahead of Betancourt, Lucroy and the pitcher. In the 8 or 9 spot he is to close to the top of the order where you don't want to play as much small ball. Moving himself over is bigger in front of singles hitters or guys who put the ball in play.I would rather see Gomez bunted from 2nd to 3rd instead of 1st to 2nd. 6th gives him a couple batters to steal before the pitcher.
  7. That would actually be a really good CF. Keep in mind that Morgan would be the big half of the platoon so Gomez' offense wouldn't drag it down much. Probably in the .330/.375/.705 range.
  8. We saw positive trends in his AB 3 weeks ago then he sucked again. Gomez shows flashes of being good without actually improving and has for a while now. I don't know what stretch you're talking about from 3 weeks ago, but in the last 3 weeks he's put up a line of; .290/.357/.484 for an .841 OPS. He's also been worth 1.3 Wins for us this year. I think we're ignoring what's he's been doing this year and just sticking with the line that he's a terrible player. Gomez HAS been showing obvious signs of improvement, and while I don't argue that it's been a very short period of time, just dismissing it saying, "well, he's done this a few weeks ago," is disingenuous. He's been improved and he's been a very positive player for us thus far this year. For comparisons sake, he's been worth more this year than Weeks has. The point is that Gomez is good for stretches but he still is not a good hitter. He mixes in a few good games to make us think he is improving but he is still a guy who just can't get on base with any regularity. His 1.3 WAR this year so far is mostly with his glove. He isn't a terrible player, just a terrible hitter. Morgan and Gomez would make a really good CF platoon. Morgan is a little worse on defense but hits RHP pretty well. Gomez doesn't really hit any pitching well(he is about the same against LHP as Morgan, I don't really expect that to be the case going forward) but he can play really good defense. I completely agree that our question next offseason, right now, is "who will play SS?"
  9. Is it so wrong to conclude that his timing may not be in regular season form? Ifyou are just looking at the numbers, yes. Hart has looked pretty good at the plate in games and with only 41 PA that is more important than anything the numbers will show at this point. Add in that Kotsay has no range and Hart is projected to be much better and Hart is clearly a better choice than Kotsay. Even against RHP 2008-2010 Hart and Kotsay are pretty much equal. Against LHP, forget it, Kotsay should only face LHP in an extreme emergency. Kotsay should be off the team, but while he is here he should only be pinch hitting against RHP. Nothing more.
  10. We saw positive trends in his AB 3 weeks ago then he sucked again. Gomez shows flashes of being good without actually improving and has for a while now. Technically correct but his injuries are not the "older player" type of injuries. He got a bruise in a collision and broke a finger.
  11. Probably some combination of Gomez and Morgan until Schafer is ready.
  12. I know AndThat (Toby)'s opinion was that he wasn't impressed. However, even if the fairly pessimistic assessments of Gamel's defense are 100% accurate, he's going to be an upgrade over Prince in all likelihood. That makes me sad.
  13. There were concerns even when he was first announced as manager. Unfortunately he has been even worse than feared.
  14. I retract my snarky double switch statement. I guess we will see CC batting 3rd soon. Sweet, 3 straight lefties.
  15. Take notes here Ron. This is what they call a "double switch." They do this in the NL to let the pitcher they bring in stay in longer.
  16. - Padres with 14 hits- Brewers coming back from 5-0 with this line up - Kotsay drawing the walk with 2 outs to start the 2 out rally in the 5th. - McGehee with a great play then forgets to call time, lobs the ball to the pitcher and Bartlett goes to 3B. - Weeks with a great play - Yuni with a homer I have no idea why this is strange to you http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. Not surprising to see problems with the umpire today. Hirschbeck is one of those guys you remember and not in a good way.
  18. But he's a veteran so stats don't matter. He's been around the game and knows the ins and outs. I am not so sure about the ins but he sure knows the outs.
  19. He did bat Kendal leadoff a few times.
  20. Day after night game. No problem with Lucroy having the day off.
