  1. Just way to logical for our current manager.
  2. I would rather have Kotsay in CF than Fielder, but it's close. That is about as positive as I can get about Kotsay in CF. Fielder in CF would at least be entertaining.
  3. I believe Wolf is a flyball pitcher too. Flyball pitcher + horrible outfield defense = success?
  4. That is one brutal outfield. Good thing Wolf isn't a flyball pitcher.
  5. Would that really be surprising. MLB is just terrible at getting their games to fans.
  6. In other words buy an expensive bottle once and keep filling it for your dinner guests.
  7. I was watching the game and couldn't figure out if the pitch trax was off or the umpire was. It seemed like the whole zone was shifted to the right batters box all game.
  8. I think he meant in the 1.75 games between his injuries. I hope he was being sarcastic. His offensive problems would be masked if he wasn't making so many outs between Weeks and Filder/Braun.
  9. It was. Number 1 on Sportcenter's Top 10 this morning, and absolutely deservedly so. It's funny though, even on that play, watching the replay and watching Yuni go up the middle I'm thinking "come ON dude, get on your horse and get to that ball!" He reminds me of Jenkins in left field back in the day. Jenkins would make a spectacular diving catch, and everyone would be "OMG! Did you see that CATCH?!?!" and in reality, it's a ball that 75% of guys who play the position catch on the run without having to dive, because they just have a better jump and better wheels. I digress, I'm not taking away from Yuni on this particular play. It WAS an absolutely fantastic play. Still losing to Philips play by 600+ votes.
  10. I knew that was from a movie. I just couldn't remember which one. I was apologizing for the deleted portion. I smacked my head when I realized the rest of the comment was Yogi like.
  11. I apologize for my earlier statement. Why can't we all just agree to let this thread die at least until the All-Star break? There is no meaningful discussion left on this topic. There hasn't been for a month. A play here or there isn't going to change the opinion of one side or another. I think discussion of this play would be better in the "The Brewers 2011 non-vent thread." Bringing up one good or bad play isn't going to change the mind of the other side. It is just rubbing their face in it. We all have our opinion and Betancourt is what he is. Whenever I see this thread I just think, "Why won't you die?"(in reference to the thread, not any poster or Betancourt)
  12. retracted This thread would have died a long time ago if it didn't keep getting resurrected.
  13. Greinke has similar peripherals to Sabathia.(k/9, bb/9, FIP, xFIP) The only big difference is Sabathia has played for good teams and has pitched more innings. I guess the mental health may be a valid concern but it really doesn't seem to be a problem the last few years. Marcum is older so I would go with Greinke.
  14. CF has Gomez an Morgan long term. They are likely a good platoon in CF. At least league average on offense with very good defense. Gamel is likely the 1B long term. Really SS is the only open position in the next few years assuming the keep McGehee. We need competent bench players.
  15. We don't need slap hitters. We need OBP guys. They are not necessarily the same thing.
  16. I think the defining moment of this season so far has been 2/3/11. All the bad roster decisions were influenced by the move made on that date.
  17. Kotsay is blocking several good things from happening to improve the roster.
  18. The only real difference is with Weeks you also see an improvement in his weakness, his defense. Gomez weakness, his offense, is stagnant so far. I am not saying he will not improve, I am just skeptical he will. 22 - .296/.360/.657 - .333/.394/.727 23 - .287/.337/.623 - .363/.404/.766 24 - .298/.357/.655 - .374/.433/.807 25 - .281/.339/.620 - .342/.398/.740
  19. Cain also wasn't pushed too fast by his two previous organizations. The fact that he was playing in MLB when he shouldn't have been is not something I'll hold against him. What I'm saying is, he still has a few years before he hits his ceiling. There's still a chance the light bulb will turn on, even if it's on a dimmer. I understand what you are saying and I don't hold his being rushed against him. I just would have expected some improvement at this point. Even marginal improvement. He hasn't shown that yet. He is almost the exact same player he was in 2008. Walking at the same rate, striking out at the same rate, and slash stats in the same small range since then. That is what I am looking at.
  20. I think if Gomez could hit like an average MLB player we would be seeing threads about signing him to an extension and buying out FA years instead of threads like this.
  21. No, but I think there is a good chance Gamel will be our 3rd best hitter next year behind Weeks and Braun.
  22. I have to say that I don't care who is getting better results. With 30 PA the results are not going to necessarily show who is playing better. Hart is the better player. Play him.
