  1. 13 ab's that isn't even close to being a sample worth looking at...
  2. you could probably use this to make money in vegas...
  3. I hear you...but I don't know.. You see the way you do it, you give all the credit to the guy who walks more... that's not really the best approach...ops is cool because it shows you how the stats work together...if you pull out the ba, then you've removed a part of the stat that shows something.. I'd rather have the guy who batted .350 with the .400 obp than the guy who batted .250...as silly as rbi's are..the guy who walked didn't drive any runs in that weren't forced, and the singles hitter scores the guy on third...and maybe the guy on second, depending on where the ball is..
  4. I'm glad that threads start over there...they get alot more conversation that way...
  5. Espn tracked productive outs for one year, but since they lacked correlation to the good teams, they dropped the stat.. essentially, they were random...some teams give up a lot of outs (davey lopester) and some don't (theo's sox) but there wasn't really a direct correlation between which teams were good and which weren't... It's always seemed stupid to give away an out when you only have 27 of them... and, of course...if you bunted someone to third every time you got a leadoff double, you'd take away any chance of the second batter continuing the rally...
  6. I agree with what you are saying... Batting Average has it's value...I think the point most statheads have is that obp and slg give almost all the information you need, just at a glance... In the scenarios yopu described, knowing the ba is very helpful, but maybe not so much as the OPS You see, Batting Average is a great stat to help you once you already know the OPS...that's the way i see it at least...just like other corollary stats like k's, hr's, rbi's, etc...
  7. cool, i'm gonna try and go see that pair from UNC...good deal
  8. when nominating a thread, be sure and post a link in your post!
  9. Listen up! i wanna see more funny pictures!!!!http://www.p-81.com/img/caution.gif
  10. http://www.tarannau.com/footballers/profilepics/81%20-%20Adrian.jpg yay!
  11. youre all jerks in my book..but seriously, i saw the thread updated but i couldnt open it until that stupid game ended...
  12. Here's the whole argument from me made simple: I think JJ could have a .370 obp for an entire season while only striking out 65 times...I'm positive that Billy Hall could not do that.. that's why i want JJ over billy at SS however...i think Billy is great...and i'm stoked to see him playing so well this year...i hope he can continue to play this way and stick with the brewers for years to come... i like him as a super sub...i've never understood why people make such a big deal about a guy playing lots of positions...i mean the dudes gonna get 500 ab's this year...i'm sure he'll get close to that many next year...so why does it matter what position he plays?
  13. now i'm gonna have a good heart attack
  14. Whooooooooooooooooooo................................. (coughs up blood) hehe...whoo.
  15. holy crap back and forth...i'm gonna need a difribulator to finish this..
  16. i'm typing this with one hand because my other hand is holding my kidneys inside my bodyfrom where they tried to leap a moment ago.. once the fury fades a bit, i can return to being functional..
  17. i know you apologised, but caps locking is not allowed here...
  18. If there was ever a time for the S word...its today...why not??? there isnt a more improbable time for them to do it.. of course, they will probably finish the cards off, then lose the rest of the games...
  19. I think they should have an exhibit on the history of free agency, but i don't think curt flood should be in the HOF.. he was a nice player...but he wasn't a hall of famer... besides, i don't think he needs to be in the hall of fame just to be remembered....besides, his contributions are already there... so, No...i guess..
  20. wha' happened to d. miller?
