  1. I mean, after cobb county bought the Braves because the city of Atlanta wouldn't just give them 250 million, i can understand why municipalities would worry that the team might move to a different part of town..
  2. Khris Davis has a .257 OBP. That's about 50 points below awful.
  3. I'd pick him up purely because the Brewers need an innings eater. I think his contract is only about 3 million--- it's not a lot. The Brewers might be waiting until after he's through waivers to grab him so he costs the MLB minimum though...
  4. even if he misses the whole season, the brewers will activate him on september 1st when rosters expand
  5. Sounds like Presley or Reed
  6. a young lefty with a decent track record was just dumped by the bo sox. I think the Brewers should cut Freeman and give him a look.
  7. i think this list just proves how deep the brewers farm system has gotten. It also demonstrates that if everything breaks right, the Brewers could have 6+ guys on the BA list next year.
  8. i think the problem with montero is finding somewhere to stick him on the 25 man. I could see a case made for only carrying 4 outfielders so that you could bring along Montero. On the other hand, i think they will keep walsh and a backup shortstop, so that means that they might not really have a player on the roster who is capable of being that 5th outfielder. I'd probably pick him up at the expense of Nieuwenheis or pressley, but it will make for annoying roster issues---like Yadiel in Lf or something equally wacky.
  9. Ey jr. Has been reassigned
  10. I think Jones starts the year on the dl, nolin makes the team, broxton, flores, and liriano all make the team, and that colin walsh is the 25th man I'm positive that presley, nieuwenheis, and almost all of the relievers would clear waivers. Pena might clear, but i also think he's likely to have 5/9 bb/inning ratio, which is awful, so i'm not sure about him. Broxton and santana have been the best parts of camp middlebrooks and perez suck, predictably. I think they'll just release middlebrooks.
  11. unless he rights the ship in majestic manor, garza will be released before he can get near that option. If he pitches like he did when he was 27 next year, he will be traded. No chance he gets that option while with the Brewers.
  12. i'm pretty sure if the brewers wanted him, they couldve gotten him in the Davis trade---the fact that they didnt signals a lack of interest in my opinion
  13. acquiring good talent isn't the idea; acquiring excellent talent that is at the beginning of it's cheap service time in the majors is the idea. That's why trading a guy like Smith or Khrush makes sense---The brewers should acquire talent that will still be cheap and young in 2020, as opposed to having aging and expensive players.
  14. Josmil Pinto at AAA, Weisenberger at AA again IMO, unless Luc is traded.
  15. brewers also deleted Segura's contract, so the Hill's "Real" cost os even less
  16. Since youth baseball---including high school---have dh's at nearly all times, it's hard to justify not having dh's all the way up. along the same lines, the lack of DH seems to be part of the parity problem between the nl and al. personally, i like the strategy involved with pitchers batting, but I don't think i'd care that much overall if they added a dh.
  17. compiled by our very own colbyjack (patrick ebert)
  18. He's still arbitration eligible, so the brewers have him for three years, if they want.
  19. Hmmm. I'd have rather had Alvarez, but he's likely to cost twice as much. Carter is a decent candidate to improve on last year, be he mostly sucks.
  20. Jon Singleton makes a whole lot of sense---the astros connection is legit
  21. Stearns recent pattern suggests former highly regarded prospect coming off a disappointing season or two (Cecchini, Villar) or older prospect with skills but a wart or two (Broxton, Flores). I don't know what first baseman fits that formula, but it'll probably be someone like that. As for Alvarez, I like the idea a lot, but since it doesn't really matter, I think if I was stearns I'd wait the market out completely and sign whichever 1b is still looking for a job in February.
  22. 2,200,0001 on the nose most people attending major league baseball games have no idea whether or not the team is good.
  23. Adam Brett Walker probably had the most power in AA, but he's going to have a .275 OBP in the majors. I got to watch him play last year and the power was ridiculous---but so is Chris Carter's. They have a similar profile, but while neither has a great hit tool, I think Carter sees the ball better.
  24. Agreed. So we in essence, traded Gallardo for Flores? And Corey Knebel, who looked great at times last season, and Marcos Diplan, who is one of our best pitching prospects.
