  1. oh yeah, i forgot: Jeffress mainly struck guys out with a curveball...he had really great control tonight as well...i was hugely impressed...i saw mark rogers pitch a couple times, and things were totally different with JJ...he really does look effortless when he fires the ball...
  2. back from the game and uploading video as quickly as possible...i was able to video JJ warming up and from a couple different angles throughout the game...... The back to back homers were both on fastballs...at the time he gave them up i was siting with a scout from the royals and the braves...they were talking about how the fastball looked very flat...but after the homers, things improved a great deal...they were comparing him to tom gordon by the end of the 1st... i filmed the entire second inning, so if it ever loads, you'll be able to watch it... the scoreboard had him at 98 about 5 times, but i checked with Alex Periard on my way out (he was using a Stalker gun) and he had the fastest pitch at 97...He was regularly in the 93-95 range...which is where we will see him as a starter, but you'll see him ring it all the way up if he makes it up as a starter.. speaking of Alex Periard, he is on the DL for an ear infection....also spoke to Zach Braddock about his arm and he said it feels much better...he said they are just trying to keep his innings and pitch counts down, so they are giving him a few weeks off...he told me the team actually told him it was similar to the break they gave will inman last year, so i call that great news...no surgery, no scope, just rest... on to the bats... Andy Bouchie really hits the ball hard...if he learns to take some walks, he could turn into a very good prospect... I think i didn't give Taylor Green enough credit last week...he's a bigger guy than Ryan Crew...i definitely think he's got the stick to stay at third...he's one to keep a very close eye on for the rest of the year, because he could turn out to be a top 20 prospect really quickly... Brewer's error just went right under his glove...he drastically misjudged the bounce of the ball, and had no chance...he's mega fast though...he's got 40 steal potential... Finally got to talk to Mike McClendon tonight as well---he said the team had been picking on him really hard early in the year about his motion, but they have slacked up a bit because his results have been so phenomenal...he told me he throws mid 80's sinkers virtually every pitch...which means he probably profiles mroe as a reliever than a starter, but the brewers will give him a long leash as a starter... ok, that's it for now...i'll get those videos up...
  3. i'm going to go to the Power game tonight, and i'm going to try and get some video of Jefress pitching...if i do, i'll post a youtube link late tonight
  4. Well, the wife's not in labor yet, so i'm going to the game http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif it's only about an hour a way, and i own a fast car, so if she calls, i'll burn back up here... those that are horrified should know that my mother in law is in town to help out http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif she wants to go with me, but the doctor won't let her http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif that's the most emoticons i've ever used in a post...
  5. i think he's missing time in a very similar fashion to will inman sitting out a few starts about this time last year...as long as it's just tendonitis, i'm not concerned...
  6. he's not back to the same level, but he's definitely back to being on the radar... i have no clue what caused him tostart walking so much, but i would say this half season has guaranteed that Lou will at least be a back up in the majors... catchers are so hard to project...this half season is the only thing that will keep Lou from becoming Angel's backup next year...
  7. braddock throws in the high 80's, low 90's, so he's got a bit more juice than housman ever did...a lefty who can hit 91 is a very good prospect, so as long as he doesn't lsoe any velocity, he will be fine...probably like a #3 type guy...but maybe better...hope he only misses a couple more starts... we've heard that Mcclendon doesn't throw as hard, so he may be a lot harder to project.
  8. pure luck tango and cash hudson hawk captain ron (one of my all time favorites)
  9. darren ford is more like kenny lofton...speed and power...i think darren could hit 20 homers in 600 ab's
  10. lorenzo is being killed in space ccoast stadium...he's a line drive hitter with good power...he's got a low in common with someone like carl crawford, but it's hard to hit anything in the fsl...his slg. will be close to .400 by the end of the season, and close to .45o at huntsville next year...
  11. i think roy oswalt is a better comp... yo throws in the 90's...consistantly
  12. you know, those numbers aren't great for Brent, but i still think they are a lot better than many expected... i think he'll cut the strikeouts down as the year goes along and he may even walk at a higher rate as his batting average continues to rise... brewer's really a heckuva prospect...he's exceeded all expectations for this year...
  13. the good news is that the braves are struggling mightily right now as well...
  14. i wouldn't do that... i don't want milledge...and i'm not trading my mvp from last year for a reliever... relievers only pitch a couple of inningsmax...i don't think you trade a star player who you control for years for a reliever... i would so much rather promote yo to the pen than trade bill hall for a reliever..
  15. if you feel like playing hooky from work and flying to charlotte on tuesday, i'll run away to see jeffress' debut with you...hehe...for at least the first few innings...
  16. coming off an injury, and with little reason to be rushed, i think salome spends the whole year in Brevard what the heck is up with Charlie Fermaint? I've seen prospects slowly wither away, but sheesh! It's like he's completely forgotten how to play baseball...
  17. Braun and Yo were called up from Brevard in early June last year, so i suspect that Inman and Cole will be called up about then as well...
  18. i think the outfield talks comes from the idea that it is the plaqce the brewers could improve... jenkins is playing well this year, but only against righties hall has been pretty good in center mench sucks and the other three have been up and down... i think a lot of people think you could bring in a star outfielder and let him play in front of the young guys for the rest of the year, and then he walks... or, you get a star type guy with a few years on his contract and you let jenkins walk... fielder, weeks, hardy, and braun are entrenched...the outfield still has some wiggle room, even if the brewers do have 6 mlb capable guys on the roster
  19. i think i'm done with dave bush...i didnt think it would happen like this, but i really think i am...i'm ready to move him to villy's role, and let him see if he can force vargas out of the rotation...villy's got almost 100 high quality inning sin the bigs now, and i think that sample is enough to suggest that he would be better than bush as a starter...
  20. lou palmisano absent from huntsville lineup... he doesnt play every day, but this could mean he's on his way to aaa
  21. tendonitis, be it shoulder or elbow, is probably the msot common ailment in baseball...i doubt there's a player in professional baseball that doesn't experience some pain from tendinitis
  22. trucks and SUV's make up over 50% of the market 8 cylinder coupes probably cover about 5% of the market... and an h2 gets comparable mileage to a lamborghini... 25 highway is ok, but 15 city is horrifying... and of course, the CAFE gas standards ( or EPA mileage estimates) are based on a vehicle moving 48 mph with no ac and the windows up---that's how they calculate highway mileage---i kid you not---so, if you take the 25 higway cherokee and drive it 75 with the ac on, i doubt you are getting 20 to the gallon... and if your cherokee was 4 a 4 wheel drive hemi, you'd get, and i quote rainier wolfcastle here, "1 highway, 0 city."
  23. i have shoulder tendinitis...it's very common...
  24. that was my guess in the transaction thread...though i guess they could promote someone like steve sollman up to play 3b when vinny's catching..
  25. oh man, if life wasn't getting in the way, i would absolutely be in kannapolis on tuesday
