  1. your going to see a lot of movement this month and next because we are all getting a hang on our thoughts vs the old list of toby.. we've all got different views on prospects...for example, mass really likes marino salas...i think andy bouchie is the real deal...i also had taylor green higher and andy lefave on the list, but i have taken a long look at the WV staff, so my thoughts are probably biased...i got to watch last years team quite a bit as well, so i give those guys the benefit of the doubt... jeffress is probably still rated too low...baseball america had him ranked 4th, we have him 8th...he was last years top pick and he effortlessly throws in the mid 90's...he is the only guy currently playing that can do this...hopefully rogers will be able to when he returns, but i doubt anyone could ever call his pitching effortless... that said, mass had it right...you are going to see the guys with the highest potential and results ranked the highest...followed by a combination of stuff and potential...the guys at the bottom of the list are almost all one or the other..for example--steve sollmann projects as a backup infielder...but he's been really good in the minors, so he's ranked... taylor green is a total mystery...it would be very fickle to make him a top 10 prospect based on one month...what if he returns to the level he played at in 2006? then he's not top 10 at all... if a player is truly a top prospect, he will advance on the list...in general, toby always had it right...the guys a the top of the list are very close to the majors...thats good... the reason the brewers are better than in years past has a lot to do with the fact that the guys at the top of the list are contributing or close to it..yo, braun, even inman... the reason taylor green and mike brantley aren't in the top 10 is because they are very far away and lots can happen...the demise of mike jones and brad nelsons prospectdom clearly shows what can happen between low a and the majors... anyway, theres a lot behind everything in this list...we each debate for hours where to rank the prospects...and sometimes we debate with each other---they really like luis ramirez---but the list is very, very, very thoughful...
  2. farris seems to be in the luis castillo mold..high average second baseman with lots of stolen bases...
  3. hey, a catcher in the third round isn't bad...this guy seems to be pretty good all around...i like it...not terribly exciting, but a good pick i think
  4. If you get the best college hitter in the draft, then you have done well...i was really hoping they'd do something like this...unlike practically every high schooler and pitcher, you can almost gurantee that laporta will play in the majors... i think its a very exciting pick and it makes me a lot happier than any of the pitchers projected...though i think jarrod parker woulda been ok..
  5. there was way too much steve phillips, carl ravech, and peter gammons... they spent the entire 5 minutes between each pick yacking, instead of just picking...the whole thing felt very scripted to me..david price had on a TB jersey before he was picked... it would make for better tv if they canned their attempt to turn it into the nfl draft....it's never going to be like that...
  6. fire yost and bring in WV hitting coach Corey Hart...
  7. this is a baseball website...there are only above 6 websites that cover the milwaukee brewers...and this is the only one with a decent message board.. on the other hand, there are 25 quadzillion political websites and they probably all have message boards, so i don't see why one is needed here..
  8. nothing is locked arbitrarily....we discuss whatever before stuff gets locked generally...
  9. every single time i watch the price is right, it's like a time machine trip back to 1987, sitting on the floor....i love the price is right...
  10. blue=sarcasm.... i think the point of sarcasm is that not everyone gets it...it's kinda suppsoed to be rude...so, by making it explicit, it's not really sarcasm.. hence my distaste
  11. Nestor is an organizational soldier...at current pace, he'll be 30 by the time he reaches AAA... i've seen him play a few times...he catches and throws ok, but hits like henry blanco...
  12. coco = yay! mench versus righty = boo!
  13. since they are going to televise it this year, i expect it will be more than... hisssssss click: (jack z speaking) with the 7th selection of the 2007 draft, the Brewers select draft id 457898 Aumont, Phillippe, RHP, Quebec, Canada click.hissssssssssss. It's kinda hypnotic, especially when it gets to be like round 25...
  14. Jim--- when's the clinch date? You gotta think they will move up a few players as soon as the lock up the first half...
  15. i'm not sure steve will get moved up this year...he deserves it, but the brewers kinda treat AA and AAA like they are equals...so the fact that steve is in AA does not necessarily mean tht he couldn't be called up if graffy or counsell got hurt/traded...
  16. BC's bats are as on fire as bats get down there...ma gamel really heating up, even if homers are impossible to come by in florida... lorenzo cain will be hitting .300 in about 2 more games..
  17. i saw a road test of one of these things about a year ago...it was hilarious... i believe if i was famous, i'd show up at the oscars in one of these
  18. There are two differences between yo and inman: 1. yo throws about 1 mph faster on average 2. inman has been statistically better in 110 innings in WV, will allowed 75 hits with 24 walks, all while k'ing 134 in 121 innings in WV, Yo allowed 100 hits, 51 walks, and k'ed 110 in 67 innings in BC, inman has allowed 50 hits and 18 walks, while k'ing 84 in 77 innings, yo allowed 54 hits, 23 walks and 103 k's... as good as gallardo was at those two levels, inman has matched or bettered him in practically every way...Inman's only allowed 6 homers to yo's 9 as well... so, in my mind the only difference between these two guys is 1 mph and a year... i just don't think inman is tradeable unless you are getting david wright, miggy cabrera, or someone like that...i think i'd be furious if the brewers traded him for jermaine dye...
  19. yeah, kenny's 24...but i love watching the guy play and he hits the ball a ton...he's just a favorite of mine... i think he'll have a major league career...i mean, dan uggla and Holmberg have a lot in common...
  20. brantley is a pretty big guy...i think he'll eventually hit 10-15 homers a year and 30+ doubles...
  21. i think Holmberg and ford need to be in Brevard....Brantley deserves to be there, but he seems to be benefitting quite a deal from being in West Virginia again... another guy from the WV squad that should probably be in BC is Chuck Caulfield---he's 23 and needs to prove himself quickly up the chain... i think cole gillespie is ready to move up...he hasnt kept his batting average high, but everything else is going well...his peripherals have been better than Braun's were last year...Errecart could probably move up as well, though he has cooled massively since a dl stint a month ago... lous palmisano should be in AAA, but i doubt they move him up until the end of the season..
  22. 34, he's a career minor leaguer...the brewers are pretty good at finding guys like this for AAA
  23. he's horrible....i'd stick him in nashville, but no way am i willing to put him on a major league roster any time soon...
