  1. For whatever it's worth Mike was a CF in HS and can play the position very well.
  2. Havent posted anything in a while, I just wanted to post that I got to see Pena pitch in Las Vegas last week for a game and he was 95-98 the whole inning. I couldnt have met a nicer group of guys on that AAA team, Ill be pulling for them, even the guys I dont rep. Should have some new client news this week.
  3. Taylor Green will be back in the lineup today. Just had a few days off, it's been a long year for TG. Just an FYI
  4. Just to add to the running theme of Brantley.......... this was a pretty cool read. http://www.rototimes.com/mlb/player.php?tqid=7335 "Our View:Brantley has prototypical leadoff skills and could be a huge fantasy producer as early as next season. He is hitting .375 with seven steals and an outstanding 13/5 BB/K ratio this season, which is a strong follow-up on his 2007 season in which he hit .296 with a 60/47 BB/K ratio and 35 steals. He may not have the speed of some elite major leaguers, but his on-base skills could still make him a 30-40 base stealer with regular playing time. "
  5. Jackie Rexrode Never had 400 AB's in a season, was a utility IF, and wasnt a real prospect coming up through the minors if I recall. He was also sub 6 feet and like 160 lbs. Michael has a much brighter future than Rexrode. *****Consider the source, I am totally biased.
  6. I had absolutely no idea where to post this but enjoy http://bleacherreport.com/articles/18737-The-Top-102-Prospects-Who-Have-Yet-to-Play-in-MLB "102. Michael Brantley, OF, Brewers (Huntsville) Brantley has a career .400 OBP and runs well. He'll have nearly a full season's worth of AA-ball under his belt before his 21st birthday in May. A lack of power hinders his upside, but he could wind up being similar to Scott Podsednik, if not better. "
  7. Condescension does not go over well here. It was definately not in a condecending tone. Hence the smiley face you didnt quote.
  8. Power is the last tool to come. Taylor is going to be fine.
  9. I was not, I repeat not refering to anything having to do with the media. Dont you think the team has a list of their own prospects http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif How is Brantley not being a CF in the minors any different than Brewer not being a CF in the minors? Brantley profiles much better in CF.
  10. I dont like scouwting services because they are a business. From my understanding dont they only cover their own events?? There are some very smart people that work at PG (patrick) and some very smart people at baseball america (I think). Im sure like any field there are a ton of idiots too. PG is a great resource to me as an agent and im sure its a great read for fans. All im saying as an agent, if Iwere to depend on the reports PG has to run my business I would be shut down within a year. You have to do your own talent analysis or you're a dead man as an agent. Thats not even my point here. Obviously (I hope) Im not an idiot. Brewer profiles great in CF and Im not denying that at all. The only thing I am saying is the Brewers have ZERO motivation to move him there based on what they paid Brent to play ss and the org. depth in the system. Could that change ever? Sure. However I do not see that happening for a while. And of course Im totally biased towards Brent but from a practical sense if a KID A has a chance to play SS in the bigs, wouldnt you want to keep him there as long as possible until he fails completely? I dont consider struggling in the lower minors failing thats just me. The Brewers will keep brent at SS until there is a reason to move him and right now from what I know there isnt a reason to move him. It's not like he's going to play CF with Haydel in WV or Ford in Brevard so again where are they going to play him?? PS. Patrick is very awesome and is very much the man.
  11. I know this but what I was refering to was their "scouting reports' of which I couldnt care less because whoever there source is (the team, agents, players) you will never get an unbiased opinion.
  12. Agent, relax. We're not cursing the guy's family, we're questioning if he's better utilized and has a better future at shortstop or CF. And yea, we've got several OF'ers in the minors, but we don't have a lot of CF'ers who project to be hit enough or are athletic enough to play in the big leagues. LaPorta? Gillespie? They're not CF'ers. Brantley hasn't played much Center in the minors, so it stands to reason he's not a viable CF prospect on a good big league team. Ford's not nearly the prospect that Brewer is, and Cain's also played mainly corner OF though he could play center. A lot of talented athletes come up as Shortstop's, but most who struggle defensively early on end up getting moved. Hell, Gary Sheffeild, Bobby Bonilla, Miquel Cabrera..a lot of guys come up as Shortstops as organizations hope they'll figure it out, but most who have that high a number of errors get moved eventually. I just don't see why you'd say that he'll "live or die" at shortstop? As though he's got no chance to make it anywhere else? And yes, we realize you're his agent and you speak with Brent and have a personal relationship with him, however that also tells us that you're not objective. The bottom line, 82 errors in 172 games is not a very encouraging sign and suggests that if he's going to live or die at Short, it doesn't look very good. That's not a rush to judgment, it doesn't mean that he's "wasted" anywhere else, or that none of us know what we're talking about by suggesting that he may not stick at shortstop like most scouts have suggested. It's just the reality of the situation when you've got a guy ahead of him in AA ball right now who would be a very, very good big league defensive shortstop right now in the big leagues, and the guy on the big league club is one of the more reliable shortstop's in the league. So while the numbers of prospect in CF may be higher, the quality most certainly is not. I think we all hope we're wrong. It'd be great to see him reach his offensive potential and use that great range and cannon at shortstop, but again, we just don't see it as being very likely. Brantley is a viable CF, Cain is a viable CF and I really think you are selling Darren Ford short. At the end of the season I believe Darren will be a top 10 prospect in the system. He just makes more things happen on the diamond than the other guys. I also don't pay attention to "scouts" nor do I pay attention to baseball america or perfect game (sorry patrick) because if writers could scout or play they would be scouts or they would play. Escobar is light years ahead of Brewer developmentally so like I said. Holy rush to judgment. Brent will not be on the verge of the big leagues as a SS if all plays out until 3-4 years from now while escobar will be up in sept. I dont see how anyone is blocking Brent, and if Brent can adjust who knows how good he'll be. At the end of last season Brent's hands were improving and he was making all the adjustments he needed. I think starting him off in WV was the right thing to do but when you have a system that hands out big money to D/F's to play CF and have guys like Cain Ford and Brantley ahead of you again why in god's name would you ever waste a top SS prospect in CF. You can always find an outfielder, you cannot always find a shortstop. And like the other poster said, who the hell even cares about minor league stats? It's about player developement and making errors comes with the territory.
  13. You said what I didnt have time to write. Thank you!
  14. I will refrain from all sarcasm in this post but for whatever it's worth I think I know what I'm talking about.
  15. Holy rush to judgment. He's freaking 20. Didnt Jeter make some 50 to 60 errors in the SAL when he was there. Why would the brewers want to devalue a prospect? This has absolutely nothing to do with me it has to do with how to best utilize an investment and I think for what Brent got he's going to stick at SS for a while. There is absolutely ZERO reason to move him to the OF especially when the following OF are in the system.................... Cain Ford,Brantley,Irrabarren,Laporta,Gillespie, etc. etc here. Not exactly an org need. He'd be a total waste at 2b and I dont see how moving him to 3b would help him either. He's going to live or die at shortstop and I dont foresee them moving Brent for a while. I think there's a chance I may have some insight on this. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  16. He has tremendous hands and athleticism and I dont see any reason to move him off SS and thankfully neither do the Brewers.
  17. I dont need to jump to the defense of all my guys but I think Mr. Brewer is going to be just fine at SS. I dont see CF as an org need and obviously his value is maxed out at SS so why the overwhelming sense of urgency to waste a top prospect and bury him in the OF. Who the hell cares about winning games in the minors. Its about player developement, not winning.
  18. Well since the draft is coming up and the blog is going to be left off this thread does anyone want to email me any questions as per the draft at scorolen17@aol.com? Let me know. Also Eric Newton is close to signing with an indy league team so will keep everyone posted on that. Thanks again for having me here J
  19. Sounds like a much better plan, I'm in! Talk to you all soon J
  20. Man I must have upset you to garner that response. I'm providing a pretty good story for this site totally free of charge. If you dont care to read what I'm posting here by all means ignore my postings. Ive provided this site access to all of my clients and I talk to these guys whenever they call me or contact me. I dont feel obligated to have to answer to you and in a few year when these guys get promoted even higher I really doubt people (and really in this case, one person) would be so offended by my postings. Nobody gets to see what goes on behind the scenes and in lieu of posting random stuff on the boards which I did all throughout last season (go check its there), I am just linking to the blog. I don't have anything to sell to the fans and this is not a means of advertising. I know all the players anyway, why would I have to convince them to hire me via a message board when I can just call them or go see them? I promise you almost everyone in the organization knows me and it's not because of Brewerfan.net. What exactly am I selling here or on my blog? Nothing. Everyone knows who these guys are anyway and it's not as if the companies zero in on fan sites to figure out their marketing strategies. Give me a break, it's just a message board. If the people that run the site want me out of here I would be happy to cease my assistance to them if it is becoming such a burden. Thank you for your interest. J
  21. After a brief respite blog is back. 2 posts today, heavy brewer updates.
  22. I answered the question. It was intentionally vague. I have no agreements with any amateur players what so ever. It's not allowed and I dont do that. Ill get calls about kids some guys havent seen just the whole process is very time consuming and meticulous.
  23. I love everyone, it's just the same stuff over and over again. Lots of the same questions from lots of teams. Just part of the job.
  24. Updated, big brewers mentions EDIT: Linked to specific post...
