  1. I can't believe Brett is gone. It feels like my girlfriend just broke up with me... arrgggghhhhhh. I'm cooking a pizza and waiting for it to be done so I can drink a beer, flip to the news (cnn or foxnews), and check brewer fan political scene. I want that moment to be perfect and I must wait for the pizza to be done before I can enter the fascinating world of politics. I love the sport of politics almost as much as baseball so I'm savoring the anticipation of pizza and finding out the super Tuesday part Deux results. By the way areacodes, is it bad that only we post on here during the week?
  2. I hope Sheets wins the Cy Young this year. Who cares where he goes after that. Somebody will overpay him and give him way to many years. He is great when he's healthy and will cash in regardless of what happens this season. Only if he has a real blow up season, like 5 starts or less, will we resign him. Then we would probably only resign him for one year at around 8 million.
  3. I'm a little surprised that I'm the only person who thought GF II was better than the original. I'm surprised too since most film critics pick Godfather II as the better flick. I also think the flashbacks are the best part of the entire Godfather series, but the regular story was not nearly as good. Watching Michael transform from nice little army boy to crime boss is a much better journey.
  4. I think that Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels is a gangster movie. It's got some small time gangsters, some bigger gangsters, fixing card games and some heists, albeit poorly executed heists. It just has a lot more comedy in it then other gangster movies. I read the synopsis of the warriors and it sounds like a gangster movie to me. P.S. there is suppose to be a remake of it set in L.A. with a tenative release date of 2008.
  5. While there probably should be other movies in here, it's hard to narrow it down to five, I did my best. I was wondering what gangsta movies you would include. 1. Godfather I 2. Scarface 3. Miller's Crossing 4. Good fellas 5. Resevoir Dogs Ughh, so many are left off the list. Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Untouchables, Pulp Fiction, Casino, West Side Story(?), Godfather II and on and on. What do you guys think?
  6. That freecreditreport.com song. F R E E that spells.... free... credit report.com baby. Yeah, those songs are super sweet. nice call on Miller's Crossing. definitely one of my favourite gangster movies, on the level of Mean Streets and Goodfellas (check out Kurbick's The Killing). I think I want to start a new thread for gangsta movies now. It's tough call on Goodfellas vs. Miller's Crossing for me.
  7. Frankly, I think if he had any tangible value, he'd have been traded by now. I guess I do not understand what you mean by tangible value since the price we are paying for Turnbow is reasonable for what he gave us in 2006 and 2007 and cheap for his pre bobble-head numbers. He can be a bullpen stud when "he is right." It is just weird for a pitcher (not as much for a relief pitcher I suppose) to be so good at times, and then really bad in other outings. That would seem to indicate to me that he is tired or something else is going on. I'm still a fan of Turnbow and think he can get his k/bb ratio back to a dominating position.
  8. There has to be some funny nickname for a guy with a twisted testicle and also the last name Pie. Also twisted testicle sounds like some crazy new shot like an orgasm or a sex on the beach.... except it tastes gross and brings pain. Maybe like tequilla with Yukon.
  9. If Gagne is our best reliever he should be used in the highest leverage situation which is often times not the start of the ninth inning with 3-runs or less. I think Turnbow should be the closer this year. It should be his bread and butter. Coming in with the bases empty and either shutting the other team down or blowing up seems to fit Turnbow's style of pitching to the letter.
  10. Saves is poor way to measure a relief pitcher's preformance even if you look at % of converted saves. I think % of converted saves would give you a better picture then just looking at the total number of saves though. Cordero can throw one pitch and get a save or Shouse can pitch the 7th, 8th, and 9th inning and get a save in an 11-3 win. That is a fluky statistic. But I digress. Gagne can probably hit 40 if he stays healthy and he gets the "oppurtunities." It's difficult to tell how many oppurtunites he'll get though. With a combination of bad defense and an explosive offensive scores could tend to be more lopsided and I don't know if Gagne will get used in non-close (3 run lead) save oppurtunities. I would like to see some statistics on how many times a team enter the ninth inning with a 3-run-lead or less and some comparison with there offensive, overall record, etc.
  11. I think Turnbow is probably our best option. I'm guessing he saves a few games this year actually. If Gagne gets hurt we might see Turnbow return to rockstar status in 2008. The casual fans really treat him unfairly and have probably cost us any possibility of a home town discount. This is to bad since he is really a quality pitcher. He did cause me to break my phone during his meltdown time after the all-star game, but I'm forgiving and his numbers are always there. It was the bobble-head that cursed Mungo.
  12. I'll just throw my line-up out there after watching and reading this thread over the course of the last few days/weeks. Weeks Fielder Hart Braun Cameron Hardy Hall Pitcher Kendall This will never be the lineup and we've given a lot of thought to an issue that really won't make that much of a difference. It's more important for the guys to understand and accept their role so they are happy players. Maybe that means not giving into the Sabermetrics unless you can convince your players of its quality. Perhaps swapping Fielder and Braun would look acceptable on paper without a big statistical differnce if Braun can hit near where he did last year.
  13. Byrne is proving how great he is on a nightly basis right now on "In Treatment". If he doesn't win an Emmy, I'd be shocked. That entire show is underrated. And the award for most underrated Coen brothers film definitely goes to "Blood Simple". I think I watch that one more often than any of the others. Looks like I have another movie to check out. Sometimes I think instant consumerism without leaving my chair is a bad idea. I just bought the movie inbetween this sentence and the last one.
  14. BerryWeise isn't seasonal anymore. Summer Shandy replaced it as the Summer Seasonal. My friends would probably say it's overrated since that is almost all I drink. It still reminds me of Summer though. My underrated award goes to the movie Miller's Crossing. Thankfully Amazon turned me on to this movie with it's recommendations. It was five bucks and I needed to put my shipping costs over the 25$ mark for free shipping. I had never even heard of this movie before, but to quote a reviewer on Amazon "it's flawless, a jewel you can turn over and around in your hands again and again, seeing a new facet every time, each one striking and smooth and perfect."
  15. I'll stick with my historically overrated, but I aggree and disaggree with many others on this thread. Mainly I disaggree with the Bob Dylan being overrated. I love his music, but he does suck big time in concert now. Kurt Warner is the most overrated MVP of all time. 5-yards to Torry Holt for a 65 yard pass. Christopher Columbus is one of the most ovverated people in history also. What did this guy ever do, he died and still thought he was sailing to India. The Vikings and possibly Irish(?) Monks were in America earlier. Finally, I hate to say it, but Shakespear is overated. I like a lot of his writings, but people act like he was the only person putting pencil to paper during that era.
  16. Pepsmimax, I was all for it to until I got about 50 seconds into sbrylski's video. Then I realized what a painful experience it could be for fans watching there team losing by five run and seeing these guys trot out there. There could be a riot..... if anyone was in the stands that is.
  17. I'd like to see our defense play better so I'm going to go with hoping Bill Hall has a bounce back year. If he can play solid defense and cut down on his K's that will go a big way to helping the team. A bounce back year from Kendall would be nice, but he isn't a homegrown Brewer.
  18. Ohh ennder, why do you give me hope like thaht. I think some team will break the bank and sign Sheets to a contract we just won't be willing to match. I aggree that if we make the playoffs and have a high attendance we will graduate into a larger to mid market team, but we still won't be the Dodgers, Yankees, or Red Sox. If Sheets stays healthy the entire year he will be one of, if not the hottest, free agent pitcher next year.
  19. He seems like a good guy. Sure the Brewers are a business to him, but it's also his hobby. He knows that if you improve your product then you'll be able to sell more of it. He also knows that people like us will pay whatever he charges.
  20. Only one color, but not one size; stuck to the ground yet easily flies. Present in the sun, but not the rain; Doing no harm and feeling no pain. What am I?
  21. Ramen. Ugh. I ate a lot of that in college. The best way I found to eat it was getting the beef flavor and then putting shredded cheese on it. I usually smashed it all up and microwaved it. Then put the cheese on it and microwaved it to melt the cheese.
  22. I guess it doesn't really matter because Scott Boras clients typically go to arbitration and don't do contracts until they are free agents.
  23. Cake has a lot of my favorite lyrics. I think the song Sheep go to Heaven, goats go to hell, is my current favorite.
  24. razzorsharp, that's super macho man if I'm not mistaken. He is where I ended up getting stuck the last time I played the game for a week or so. That was about 9 months ago. ha ha. I hate that guy.
  25. My last name is Miller. I think a smiling girl, sitting on the moon, offering you a beer pretty much sums up how I feel about the world.
