  1. hmm. I can't seem to get fan graphs to cooperate with me. I wanted to see where Weeks stood offensively/defensively vs. other 2nd basemen in the NL and I wanted to see where he stood offensively vs. the other lead off hitters. Is anyone able to help a brother out?
  2. Oddly enough, I can not get any of the audio links to work at all.?
  3. I say Hall won't be hidden against righties because it seems best to have Councell spell 3rd base.
  4. From what I've seen so far, Weeks was indeed having a break out season. He improved largely on defense, and made big strides on offense as well. That in mind, I wanted to check on where he is amongst other offensive players: Can I also find out somehow where he ranks amongst other leadoff hitters in the NL?
  5. Don't forget that if Hall gets moved to second base, there's no way to hide him vs. righties. Can someone please inform me as to which site I can access to cross reference Weeks compared to other second basemen bot on O and D? (besides MLB site)
  6. Yes indeed. It is flawed in that respect. I'm going to go ahead and treat every boy my daughter becomes interested in as a rebellious drunk. I'm also of the opinion that each and every approach to a teenage daughter will be flawed.
  7. If your dog made that mess on the rock in the second picture, that is quite impressive. hehe
  8. Sounds like you already found out about "the sex" thing. (sorry, sort of had to) Wish I'd have seen this thread sooner. Congrats all around. My little princess is about to be 6 years old, so I'm still a cool dad, the best in the world. I'd have to imagine her opinion will change when she is 12 and I remove her bedroom door from its hinges. I am also placing a baseball bat beside the kitchen table, the living room couch, outside her door, etc. Think I can dig in and survive the teen years if I approach it like marriage. "yes dear." "sounds great". "looks real nice." "I'll be out in the garage."
  9. I'm still lookin' to get Brian, -THE Brian- into that HOF. BTW: No offense, but I have absolutely no idea who the doorman is. Seriously. Not a clue. (other than a member of BF.net) or how the nick name came about.
  10. For me I guess perhaps both? I hadn't thought about the earned run loop holes. 2 outs: runners all over the place, an error occurs that should have ended the inning. Pitcher then can not get the third out until he allows half a dozen hits, and maybe 4 runs to score. All unearned, yet he's still eligible for a quality start if he gave up less than four earned runs but 7-8 runs scored in 6 IP?

  13. I was unable to find it listed as such, and I'd agree. It does seem a bit bulkier than other bobbles I have.
  14. Gotta go with the flow here and call "quality start" a misnomer. If a pitcher gives up a ton of walks, around 8 hits, trouble the entire time, and 5 runs (3 earnies, 2 on by walks or something) how is that "quality" pitching? If it were 3 runs or less, and less than 4 walks ro something like that, I'd be better about the quality of a quality start.

  17. The switch from "Milwaukee" to "Brewers" came about when the 5 county tax passed. In order to somehow not alienate the other 4 counties, "Milwaukee" was dropped. It is for this reason I do not foresee a change in uniform appearance. I would like the change, but it would surprise me to see it happen. FWIW, I would also like to see the retro uni's dropped entirely. Get out of the old days, praise today.
  18. No problem with it. When Miller Park used to be pretty empty for games, I'd move all the time. I would buy a cheaper seat and then after inning #3 or so, move down to level 100 with a location in mind, ask the usher, and almost always be told OK. I'd do it when I went to games alone (with headphones and scorebook, perhaps a dinner I brought in) or with my wife. I always told the usher I was not at all going to cause problems and I'd move if needed. It enabled me to hit an extra few games per season by saving money. Now that sell outs are commonplace, it's sometimes hard enough just getting a seat in the first place let alone moving around.
  19. It's been an interesting conversation. It seems to me that mostly everything has been said, but only a few seem to be considering HY's point of view. I too would be interested in HY's making a post here but after how the guy got flamed up, I'd think he may be a bit put off to say the least. The guy is a ball hawk. Who gives a rip? The guy HY asked for the bat from is a no name on a no name team who is probably forgotten by now. Don't look up at the thread title, and tell me the player's name, quick! Didn't think so. Do you honestly believe that a guy who is sworn to uphold the law is going to go around knocking down children intentionally? What's next? HY is accused of grabbing a little girl by her pig tails and throwing her into the visiting bullpen for attention? Gimmie a break. The guy is obviously rather well known and would be booed mercilessly or confronted by security if he were tackling children. Show me proof he is a monster like that. People go into scrums for balls. I don't, but people do. You know what's going to happen, yet you go. Don't cry if you get your shirt messed a bit. It's been stated HY is a ball "hog". Look at where he gets the balls from. BP. Tell me the last time you hit the gates early and intentionally hunted down a BP ball. The only ones basically going into BP on a regular basis are all guys like HY. They dig it. Mostly, they get it signed and then sell it on ebay or in a shop. HY keeps his and shares with friends.
  20. I pointed out baseball's greed because everyone was talking about HY's "greed". I don't see it as "sticking it to them" at all really. I see it as asking a selling price in a business atmosphere. "Capitalism" is what is understood in baseball. They always take what they can get. Remember when CC Sabathia left Milwaukee for capitalistic gains? He saw what he could get, he took it. He owed us nothing to stay here, HY owed the Marlins and Coghlan nothing in return. I have not seen in any published site besides this one, and I have to imagine it only a malicious lie, but if you look at the AP article nowhere does it state that HY claimed to be of any specific profession or claim any salary at all. He said he works for a living at an honest job. This was likely stated by HY to remove doubt on the Marlins behalf as to whether or not the bats would be on ebay that night.
  21. The Major League Player's Association calls baseball a business. The owners of the teams call baseball a "business". The Management of the teams call baseball a "business". The players hold out or gripe all over the media about money and "business" YOU as Brewers fans go to the ball park and look for a jersey of your favorite player, and the price tag reads "$250" (not game worn BTW) YOU as a fan are expected to pay several hundred dollars for a broken bat from a player. YOU get charged $12 to park, $30 for a seat, $6.50 for a beer, $3.00 for a bottle of -water-, $5.50 for a Bratwurst, etc. YOU go to 10 games a year. YOU have given the Milwaukee Brewers around a grand for the season, of which MLB gets a cut, and shares revenue. The Happy Youngster goes to probably 40+ home games, 5-6 away games, spring training, clubhouse sales, fan events, and a game or two per year not involving the Brewers. He coughs up including travel, lodging, etc, a huge chunk of cash. I'm thinking he's at least a pretty good Brewers fan. I'm thinking he understands how baseball treats fans at times. "It's a business" baseball says, and they are then shocked when a fan accepts that approach and "calls a spade a spade". He started off asking for what he asked for (not relying on the Marlins media to paint a neutral picture ya know) and expected to go much lower because of a "business". You guys are vilifying some hip cat for getting a baseball bat in return for a ball? I don't care who signs the stinking bat. I don't care if he asked for tickets to a game somewhere. Baseball supplies what fans want. HY had the opportunity to supply baseball what it wanted. Do you really feel he was wrong for asking something in return? If I had caught that ball and I said I wanted a couple tickets to 2-3 future Brewers games, am I wrong too? Remember now, baseball charges for souvenirs fans want. HY had a souvenir a player wanted. He charged for it. You call him greedy or selfish. Baseball is greedy too but you guys are kind of forgetting that right now I think.
  22. Since we have a roof over our ball park, it seems quite foolish to build a baseball stadium with out one. Oh well. I can see where St.Louis has other issues to be concerned with though. A payroll that is and has been out of site, and being so concerned about other teams jerseys and all.....
  23. Thanks FTJ. Rachel and I will check on things after she gets home from school. The more people looking at her videos, the happier she gets.
  24. Looking forward to seeing Gamel. I have to go with some earlier sentiments though, the timing seems kind of early. I would have thought that next week when we need a DH would be more appropriate. Who ever gets the boot to make room for him matters little. Counsell is about the only one playing like he deserves the slot. I am interested however, in what happens with Hall. I guess Hall's future is up to Gamel at this point.
