  1. Oh- forgot to add that Landmark sent a lefty out to the mound to face our all right handed lineup. He walked quite a few batters and got hammered with a shaky defense behind him.
  2. I'm proud to report that your Brewerfan.net Softball team plated 24 runs this evening and got the victory. We gave up 14 runs which can't help Brewerfever's ERA, but it's still a win. Everyone played quite well, lots of nice hitting. I managed to strikeout to lead off the game, but ended up 1-3 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. I wish I could have stayed longer after the game for the good eats Brian and Nicole brought for us, but home duties called. Thanks for all the hard work Nicole, it's appreciated.
  3. You guys better get off brewerfan and get ready for our game.
  4. Chris Capuano will take the mound tonight for Milwaukee for the 12th time. Cappy is Mr. Quality start, a large contrast from the now all too common 5 run first inning performances the pitching staff has been allowing. Did you know that Chris has struck out 64 while walking only 16? Capuano has pitched at least six innings and surrendered three or fewer runs each time out -- making him 11-for-11 in "quality starts" -- and the Brewers are 7-4 when he pitches. ? Brewers starters have recorded just six quality starts in the last 22 games, four of those by Capuano. When a Brewers starter pitches at least seven innings, the team is 13-3. ? The Brewers continue to rank at or near the top of the National League in offensive categories, but their pitchers have surrendered at least five runs in five straight games and nine of the last 11. Opponents have scored in double-digits four times over the last 10 games. ? They have been outscored, 26-4, in the first two games of this series by the last-place Pirates, and the Brewers' team ERA has ballooned to 5.26, worst in the National League Pitching matchup MIL: LHP Chris Capuano (5-3, 2.88 ERA) Capuano is just 1-3 with a 5.79 ERA in three career starts at PNC Park. PIT: RHP Ian Snell (4-3, 5.98 ERA) Snell leads the team in wins, and has been charged with three or fewer runs in five of his last seven starts. Pirates right-hander Ian Snell will look to notch his fifth win in seven starts Wednesday when the Bucs host the Milwaukee Brewers at PNC Park. Snell has rebounded nicely since beginning the season 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA through four starts and drawing the ire of manager Jim Tracy for his propensity to leave pitches over the middle of the plate after getting ahead of hitters. One of the keys for Snell during his recent stretch of success is that he no longer tries to rely on stuff alone to overpower hitters. Most importantly, he's learned to get by when he doesn't have his best stuff. Game is televised on FSN north
  5. a 9 pm game rules out Mary and Rachel, so I'll be the only one eating from our family. Put me down for one please.
  6. It's raining, so who knows what'll happen come Thursday. (sarcasm)
  7. I really have -no- clue what's going on with this Brewers pitching staff. This is pathetic.
  8. I think I'm going to lay off this conversation. I'd like to see what you all mutually agree to as far as subtitutions go. I have some thoughts, but this team is run by it's players. All of it's players. I think everyone should play and nobody should be shorted innings. I don't like the idea of "better guys" and "not quite as good with the bat or glove" guys. I realize however, that there is a difference in talent between all of us on the team and we are ultimately trying to win ball games here, so if it's necessary that we examine and possibly change our methods, that's going to have to be voted on and accepted by the team.
  9. No one comments on Chris Mabeus' deer-in-the-headlights 8th inning, with at least a half-dozen Rick Ankiel-style backstop tosses? LOL. Never saw it. I had the game off by that point. Had stuff to do. I hope it'll be on the news a little bit.
  10. Ugh. Doug Davis needs a nickname change from D squared to B squared. (BB=b2=base on Balls) Or something else untill he reverts back to '05 form.
  11. I'd think a whole chunk of substitutions is the way to go since gradual replacements will drastically reduce playing time. Then again, you can never tell if we're actually going to play.....
  12. Only four days left to get your Fan Fest tickets folks. There are 8 tickets left at the moment, and we need to sell these puppies out, SO I've come up with a way to humiliate myself yet again. If (and ONLY if) we can get rid of these last 8 tickets for Fan Fest, I'll stand in front of all of you and sing 'I'm a Little Teapot'. I'll even do the cool teapot handle thingy. This is only if you guys can sell this event out though, and remember; not only do you get the fame, but you get an awesome tailgate dinner, a shirt, and drinks (beer charge a few bucks extra) but I'll be giving out some prizes so bite the bullet, and order up your tix. If it's a touch-and-go situation, PM myself or Nicole for some help. We want lots of site members there and their guests, so come on out, support the Brewers, and see a 35 year old in a Dave Weathers Jersey sing to the party. (I hope) I -dare- you to buy some tickets!
  13. I'd like to thank Jimbo for all the hard work he's put into the building of, and maintaining of the Brewerfan.net Softball Team's home page. Within the hallowed fences known as the Brewerfan.net Softball team's website you can find stats, rosters, and other information to satisfy even the sickest of softball fans. Brewerfan.net Softball
  14. Milwaukee will attempt to go 5-0 over the Phillies tonight behind the arm of Dave Bush. Bush had a rough outing his last start and is currently 3-5 with a 5.06 ERA. In what could be a slug fest at Citizen's Bank Park, Philadelphia sends the 4-2 Right Hander Gavin Floyd out to the hill after only three days rest this evening. Floyd's ERA is currently 6.07. Philadelphia will see Aaron Rowand return to action this evening, after a two week absence due to a broken nose caused by a collision with the center field wall while making a catch. When Philadelphis came to get sweeped in Miller Park, they were a few wins better than the Brewers, but are now one win under Milwaukee's total. Pitching matchup MIL: RHP Dave Bush (3-5, 5.06 ERA) He's lost four of his last five decisions. PHI: RHP Gavin Floyd (4-2, 6.07 ERA) He allowed five runs in 5 1/3 innings in his May 17 start in Milwaukee. Player to watch Chase Utley has an 11-game hitting streak, which ties his career high originally set from May 16-28, 2004. Utley was 1-for-5 in Friday's game, which left his average at .324 Pitcher Photos: Giraffe Neck (Dave Bush) http://www.creationism.org/articles/gir_side.gif Gavin Floyd http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/images/players/action/ph_425856.jpg
  15. I can't make it on Saturday at all. My mother has claimed that day already and if I don't show, I'm a dead man. I have the practice balls so if someone wants to pick them up, feel free to contact me. I wish I could practice, but I just can't make it on Saturday. Sunday would have been a different story though.
  16. How did the field look? I don't know why games were cancelled. Perhaps field conditions, perhaps our field manager is highly conservative about weather. Sijan field is a mess as it is, add some water and it's probably horrible. Maybe the umpires had something else to do? Maybe... who knows. Edit: Poor Ajay, missed the only game we've played. Anyone wanna venture over to the East Side this weekend to hit the ball and field a bit?
  17. Another game ppd. We're going to have lots of double headers...
  18. I just called again to see what the deal is. MKE Rec has added 2 more fields to the cancellation list. I've still not heard about our -first- make-up game, let alone this one. It's going to be difficult for me to call tomorrow and get this information, but I'll try. Wish we could have played, field conditions must be pretty poor.
  19. This is Brewermary15...Jamie just called...tonight's game has been cancelled...sorry folks.
  20. I work 10am-7pm tomorrow so if there's cruddy weather, I'll have to figure out how to get that information to you all. Watch for Jimbo to get the information out. I'll pass him the field report hotline number to him.
  21. We Pickled Claussen! Sorry. I had to say it.
  22. Sorry for the delay in posting, I worked, the wife was sick so I had to go do laundry when I got home, take care of the kid, do dishes, and talk with WSSP about tonight's Farm Report and future events. I'm here now though. Jamie batted lead-off for the season opener. Does he still bat lead-off? I thought lineups were staying about the same for familiarity? I'd like to try another game or two with the same lineup, watch ourselves, and then determine the best possible lineup. If guys are no shows, no biggie, just skip them. If guys are late, just deal with it and keep their spot in the order. If Thursday's game gets out of hand, which it may, should we bring one or both in to pitch an inning or two? Yes. No point in missing an opportunity to let others practice pitching with an arc when we are up by a good 8 or more runs. Iron Chef only played one inning in the field last week. We can't let this happen again. Zack sort of volunteered for that, I agree on equal time for all though so let's be willing to distribute playing time, but also give ourselves the best opportunity to win games. Temke: You'd need to sign up for the league before playing and you'd have to pay the fee as well. Thanks for the offer, but at this time, I don't see us needing another player. Anyone can go recieve the ground rules from the ump Jimbo- that'll be you tomorrow so I can take fielding practice. I'm also going to designate someone to get the signup sheet filled out before games. Different person each week. I think we should make the changes at the 30 min mark That was always the plan, man. Pitchers: While Josh will get the start at P each game he's here, he may not finish the game there (as mentioned before). I'm still of the opinion that we need to have 3-4 guys comfortable on the flat mound for obvious reasons. Of course, all this is your call Jamie. Nah, it's a team thing, just like we're talking right now.
  23. This Brewer pitching staff is just battered to snot. These guys look exhausted and beaten before they even step on the mound. Look at Kolb; the guy is just ahnilated.
  24. Winklesas just got a runner out without giving up a run. He came into the game of a Major League ERA of 180.00, I wonder what it just dropped to? Probably a record for drop in ERA don't you think?
