  1. Cubs haters will appreciate this one... I've always wanted to see a brawl in person. I got that wish a few years ago: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/49/150872137_d1d3476c6e.jpg Next At-Bat: Grand Slam http://farm1.static.flickr.com/46/150872830_95b098e596.jpg
  2. sheets could have slid, but that would have blown both of his hammys.
  3. So I was going through yesterday's game on my DVR again today and during the 9th inning when Kendal hit that single to load the bases, Len Kasper (WGN) said Sveum was waving Kapler around but Kapler's head was down...so...yeah....let's put that guy on notice. Edit: let's make Kapler a player/3rd base coach with Simba in when he bats.
  4. just got home from the game and am running through the video on my DVR. Man, what a finish. The air was sucked out of that park...but I guess it makes up for that game last year when Ramirez hit that bomb to win the game. I still have nightmares about that game. Today's observations: - Marmol threw great, but they have to go with Wood in the 9th no matter what. - I don't know why they sent two runners home for outs during the game (Fielder and Weeks). The Fielder/Soto collision looked awesome in person, but he was a sitting duck. - If you thought The Gallardo/Johson tangle-up looked terrible on TV, it looked a lot worse live. - Uecker's reception during the stretch wasn't as hostile as last year...I think. - Maybe it was the section I was in, but the fans weren't that obnoxious...except for the dude who bought the ticket I handed to the Streetwise vendor. - Gagne still makes me nervous. - On my way home, a fan was complaining that the Cubs should have pulled Soriano late in the game. I sort of see where he was going with that but they had to stick with him. The lesson here is that every fan has a gripe.
  5. Billy looked real good at the plate, but not on the field. The weather was definitely gnarly but at least it wasn't rainy. I took a scalding hot shower when I got home and I'm still chilly. Here's a question, are the Cubs fans getting worse every year, or am I getting older and less tolerant of the shenanigans each year? Other observations:Cameron played hungry and it rubbed off on the rest of the team. Most outs were crushed. When Gagne fidgets and doesn't look comfortable, you're in for a long inning. After Braun slid high to end that inning, he walked back to Theriot and gave him a pat...it seemed funny to me because it looked like he wasn't sorry.
  6. I remember the background song when they would roll the choices between videos...it had all these crazy rings (these days we call them ring tones) set to a beat. I also remember staying home sick from school once and seeing 'Rico Suave' about six times...somebody was jonesing for Gerardo that day.
  7. Good luck Gross. Looking forward to see if the "playing everyday" theory is true in his case (I mean that sincerely). Meanwhile, I thought there was a lot of negativity in the Jsonline blog comments, but you guys should check out the negative comment posted to the Gross Article on Tampa Bay Online.
  8. Having grown up in the area and driven frequently between Brookfield and Madison, one out-of-the way alternative would be to head north to Capitol Dr. and drive west to Hwy 164 then south back to I-94. It might avoid some of the congestion.
  9. I've always had philosophical issues with paying subscription fees for recording TV, so recently I found a Philips DVD Recorder with a 160GB DVR. It doesn't have the guide features like Tivo because it functions more like an old VCR. It doesn't necessarily "record HD" but the quality of video it pulls down from HD signals is good enough. It definitely not a plug and play component, but once you figure out how it works with your cable system, it does the job.
  10. Here's an example of two annoying Jumbo Tron cliches' going on at the same time (taken during an '05 exhibition game): http://www.leftoverchinese.com/images/random/2005/04_02_003.jpg
  11. I purchase memorabilia. Cases in point: - Brewers License Plate Frame (purchased 7/11/04) to annoy Chicago Motorists: Record at the time : 45-41. Record after purchase : 22 - 49 - 3x5 Brewers Flag (purchased 6/30/07) to hang on my porch when the brewers are in town: Record at the time : 46-33. Record after purchase : 19 - 32 (and continuing) This basically means I'm paying the Brewers and MLB to let me down.
  12. This thread is over a week old and nobody is calling for this to be in the Lambeau Leap forum. Where's the lock?? that being said, it just shows how growing up as a 'special athlete' can mess up somebody's head. This whole story makes his brother seem like a choir boy.
  13. albeit a tired line: McGwire: Young Bart here is right. We are spying on you, pretty much around the clock. Bart: But why, Mr. McGwire? McGwire: Do you want to know the terrifying truth, or do you want to see me sock a few dingers? Crowd: Dingers! Dingers!
  14. - that commercial is from 1992...a nice eerie parallel. - if they put prince on the mound now, would he pitch from the stretch? - who did prince check down at 3rd? - the way Cecil "swings late" on that pitch is hilarious because the swing is timed juuuust right. Makes you realize how slow the real game looks for good hitters. - what did the Fielder family do with the money from that commerical?
  15. Sounds like a subtle hint. Coincidence that we see this commercial after the Cubs lose Soriano for a month? I think not.
  16. I must say, there sure are some hot tempered folks around these parts the last 4-5 months. I've yet to get so mad I couldn't type a coherent sentence on a message board... there might be hope for me yet. crew07: your a jerkstore does that help?
  17. how about an IGT from the mets "perspective"?...no brewers talk allowed. if there's an IGT jinx, we can make it work the other way.
  18. second source confirms the agreement in principal. let's chase Dye's bat. the bullpen needs help from the offense.
  19. stupid question: game 1 is one's not posted on the MLB EI schedule. Does anybody know if the noon game will be on anyway?
  20. Meanwhile, Pete rose confused Cliff Floyd for Carl Everett. Class act. Jeffery "hammonds" Suppan? HA! That's gonna stick in my head.
