  1. good ol' mench...single handedly accounting for the offense on both sides. (did he just say he'd piss on himself over that pitch?)
  2. I'm sure many of you have seen this but it's worth posting...even though Julio will be back in uniform in no time. Julio Franco: A history in pictures
  3. Hawing: Yes, I did work for "the information Broker." I enjoyed working for him. A stickler for the rules, but he had to be. I was at the desk long enough for him to trust me, so we had a good working relationship for a few years.
  4. So Rickie is officially benched for the Counsellnino platoon. Thoughts? Does he need time to get his head together? Are you predicting something similar to Jenkins benching last year where he put together a decent September? I'll take a decent September when Counsellnino eventually tire out.
  5. UW-Madison '01: Real Estate and Finance. I spent six semesters and a summer at the Helen C White computer lab (2nd floor). Helping people answer questions such as "where is the internet?" and "What is wrong with my floppy disc?" Good times.
  6. That's a great LJ blog from the Mariners perspective. I remember seeing at massive brawl on TV when they were in Seattle. I was hoping Dave Parker was going to swing his bat at somebody. I remember Bob Sebra...he had a hell of pick-off move.
  7. 10 pitches. 3 outs. Ominous start. I sense a "pitchers duel" where we strand runners all day long.
  8. BBS '96. Durkee County. Lewis might have been my city as well. I rose to the ranks of state senator and participated in parliamentary procedure over....nothing, i suppose. I recall during that week the stadium approval process hit a legislative bump. My counselor wore his Brewers jersey and told us the brewers were leaving wisconsin. ..then when nobody said anything he said: "ah, whatever...everybody in this state's a twins fan anyway." ...and to think the milkmaids from back then are well into their 20's now.
  9. another start like the rest...Cappy kept us in the game, so I guess we can't be that disappointed. I'm looking forward to seeing Villi II, er Yo. Now the Pittsburgh guys are praising Braun for deke-ing Davis back to second on the run. Good move.
  10. - Make sure you have a decent sound card otherwise anything you record won't sound as good as the equipment you might purchase. Assuming you have a newer laptop, you should be okay. - A good microphone under $100 should do the job, but if you really want a clean sounding guitar, invest in an acoustic pick-up so you can go directly from the strings to the computer. The beauty of recording software is that you can layer your vocals...so you can attain clear tracks without the ambience. Recording Software : Protools, Cakewalk, Acid (my preference)..they all pretty much do the same thing. They're expensive programs, but if you search hard enough (wink wink) you'll find a good deal out there.
  11. September 28th ('02 brewers won #56 the 3rd to last game of the season) Real guess: July 19th
  12. I'm about to head to the park in half-an-hour. can't wait....'though i can definitely wait for Mench to foul out to the catcher. If the winds pick up, get ready for some small ball punctuated by a Fielder HR.
  13. the spike in sosa's numbers make me laugh every time. you can at least make the argument that Thomas was consistently around his career SLG average while sosa needed some spectacular years to bring his up. http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/255_302_DH_cseason_full_2_20070627.png
  14. Frank is a big guy, has been slugging at a consistent clip (when he's not hurt) and when included in the 'roids conversation, he's more than willing to talk about it because he is proud to be a 'natural' player. It should be noted that two of his two lowest .ops seasons were during the HR binges of '98 and '99. classic. If there's any victim of the Juiced Ball era, it's probably Frank since 500 HR is no longer a big number.
  15. I usually walk from my house and there's always plenty of parking in my neighborhood. Just look for the Popeyes on Addison and start looking for parking. Also: I've been meaning to fly a brewers flag on my porch after games to make that drive home even longer for cubs fans...does anybody have an extra brewers flag they could sell me...i'll meet ya at the game tomorrow and we'll pick fights. PM me.
  16. What is our record now when Damian starts? 16-5!
  17. blammo. lucky enough to leave work early enough to catch the last 4 innings at home on TV. They tried to go inside and served up a meatball. Damian "the scab" Miller = hero for a day.
  18. Table Tapper i'd rather have a fridge keg, but it's a good bar gimmick.
  19. Sometimes I wish Bill would replace "partner" with "hoss." I thought he should have changed it after Matt left, but I guess it stuck.
  20. Actually wasn't he the guy that admitted to doing them the year he won the NL MVP? You're thinking of Ken Caminiti. I definitely don't see Bags getting in on the first ballot. But I'm thinking he'll stay on the ballot for a while.
  21. sheesh. the Giants put six pitchers out there today. this ain't the 7th game of the world series.
  22. yeah...i'll take what they call a '2nd half MVP' trend from Bill Hall. Is everybody's gameday caught up? I'm at top of the 6th, 0 out
  23. If Hall can continue to do what he's done the last 2 weeks. This team is going to win 100 games. going 60-31 is a tall order. batters 1-8 have to go on a tear for that to happen.
  24. yikes. rough series for Fielder. I'm going to start calling him "tiny" if this keeps going.
  25. kerblewy....i get off the plane from portland, settle in to my couch and this is how i'm greeted by the bullpen. I should fly out more often. Don't give up hope on this game, folks. It's still the Cubs bullpen.
