  1. Does anyone think he has a shot at getting in this rotation? I really wanna see Manny Parra and Him get in there with dave bush as a bullpen guy.
  2. Carlos Gomez as some of you might have forgotten was really the center piece in the Johann Santana deal. He obviously has a lot of talent that just hasn't broken out yet. Remember he is a 23 year old player and i think that his speed and defense will really help this team next year and will allow us to have a future in center field along with being very cheap. If he breaks out this year great if not he will still provide us with 10 + triples, great defense, and a speed threat on the bases. But i think he will break out this year with a higher average than in the past and really help this team. He's also coming into the national league which would probably help any young hitter. An earlier post suggested that a team with escobar, gomez and possibly Lucroy/Salome is a younger club well its also a much more talented club that can last for the long hall. If we can aquire a few good starters i really do see this team contending Rickie Weeks Carlos Gomez Ryan Braun Prince Fielder Corey Hart Alcides Escobar Jonothon Lucroy Casey McGehee That is a really solid lineup.. Much better than this years with the potential to sign/trade for an established starter or 2. i like this trade i think it will benifit this year
  3. i think its obvious we are outta the race at this point. This team has been terrible of late and things aren't going to do a 180 in just one month even if they did the cardinals would start losing which they won't do. The best thing to do is sell some of these good players that we have. Hoffman, Cameron and Couns could definetly get us something useful in return. We might as well evaluate what we have going into next year and i think they will eventually start to sell.
  4. Amen.. if i see jason kendall in a brewer uniform next season i will probably throw up and freak out. He is an absolute joke up there offensively. Let them duke it out and the loser goes to AAA. I think in the end Salome will win it as he is starting to heat up in AAA and he has more offensive upside then Lucroy.
  5. If Casey wins the Rookie of the year perhaps? or he hits over .300 even he could become a very valuable trade chip. But if he has that type of success i would think the brewers would want him to stick around. Bill hall has got to go somehow, Hardy is being pushed too hard by escobar, counsell will find a better situation where he can be a starter, and no way lopez stays on. Rickie Weeks would possibly have high trade value so if McGehee puts up really good numbers the rest of the way you gotta think the brewers might shop Weeks and leave casey at second. The infield is in for a shakeup and someone is getting dealt for pitching but lets see how casey does the rest of the way before we pinpoint his value.
  6. I wouldn't expect a team starting 3 rookies plus a guy with less than 150 MLB at bats to do much more than win 70-ish games. Katin would be lucky to put up a .275 OBP at this level. i disagree with that because i think escobar can easily put up the numbers that hardy's puttin up minus a few homeruns but he adds speed and athletisism.. Gamel i think may break out next season and have a really good season. And jason kendall in my opinion is the worst offensive catcher in the game. Hes horrible up at the plate. Salome could easily put up those numbers plus some pop in his bat. And a healthy weeks and hardy or McGhee getting us a starter that team could win alot of games. And as i said Katin down there in the order just needs to drive in runs and he can do that down there
  7. i hope the brewers can bring back Cameron but idk if they'll be able to pull it off.. If not i'd really like to see Cain or maybe even a guy like Logan Schafer step up and take it from Gerut.. But idk we'll see.. Another scenario is to move Hart to center then put Katin out in right field. He has the best arm in the brewers system according to baseball america. And as far as i'm concerned i think he could put up the same offensive numbers besides the steals that Cameron could. I have no doubt that he could hit .240 or so and thats an average season for Cameron and hit at least 20 hrs. I'm a really big fan of Katin and a big reason is because of his BA's with RISP. He might not get on base much but a lineup like this next year: Escobar Gamel Braun Fielder Hart Weeks Katin Salome Would make me really happy and Katin wouldn't need to get on base a ton he can just drive in runs which he is very good at.
  8. is it possible that they just brought him in for long relief? Doug Melvin would be a totaly moran to think that Vargas is gonna help us out at all as a starter. This is a total joke if he is supposed to be our savior
  9. The latest news is that the brewers made an offer but the royals didn't counter the offer. But this is good news that they are at least talking. Bannister is the one pitcher i would love to have. We can have him until 2012 and i would offer hardy, and some younger pitching or maybe caleb gindl? id even think of offering lucroy or salome.. He is one pitcher i would love to see aquired
  10. I really hope this injury to suppan doesn't pressure melvin into doing something stupid.. we are screwed with or without suppan at this point and selling parts of next years team is surely not the solution. I wanna see a rotation of Gallardo, Looper, Villa, Dillard, and Parra.. i honestly think that we have a better chance at winning games with that rotation then one with suppan in it. Villa was very impressive last night until Macha left him in way after his pitch count and you could tell he needed to come out. Dillard also really impressed me with throwing good srikes showing obviously some nerves. His velocity was very inconsistant. At times his fastball only hit 87 and i also saw it top out at 93. I think stretchin out villa and letting Dillard throw is the best solution. However if DM and KM both believe that Villa belongs in the bullpen i wanna see josh butler get a chance. he has pitched well all year and he is rumored to have really good stuff so lets see it
  11. I believe that we just hit the low point of the season. i've never seen such horrible pitching in my entire life. Honestly i'm sooo sick and tired of seeing Suppan, looper, kendall, hall and so many other of these "veterans" go out their every fifth day or every day and just play like total ass.. I think its finally hit me that this team isn't going to win this year its just impossible to come up with enough pitching to get them a championship. i wouldn't be opposed to selling at this point in the season. Why not bring up Escobar and Gamel and maybe give some of these pitchers like Dillard and Villa and Cody maybe Butler some spot starts or something just to see what we have. Cuz at this point im not only concerned about this year but next year. I wanna see what we have in some of these guys and i wana see some people step up so we can push some of these old ass veterans outta town so we can win. I'm so sick of these guys and you guys can't tell me you aren't either and would like to see another youth movement if you will
  12. Of all of the pitchers the brewers could get besides Lee and Halladay which appear to be unlikely, Washburn is my favorite.. he has had a really really good year and although he is a free agent he is the most likely candidate to sign a deal.. he was born here and i remember the brewers activly pursued him the last time he was a free agent.. I'd say trading Hardy and playing escobar will make our team instantly better even if we didn't get a pitcher. to have a line up of: Escobar Lopez Braun Fielder McGehee Cameron Hart Kendall would win us a lot of games. But besides hardy who do we throw in? We certainly won't be able to get the mariners to straight up trade him for Hardy.. My deal is that we Trade Hardy and Gindl and Shaefer for Morrow and Washburn..
  13. Cliff Lee is the guy that i would look for the Brewers to aquire if they get anyone.. Despite Heyman's report about the Brewers possibly aquiring Halladay i just don't think it would be smart or necessary to trade Escobar or Gamel. To get Cliff Lee we need to give them some pitching. I'm thinking that Manny Parra would absolutly have to be included in the deal. We get Cliff Lee next year as well so that poses the question, who would you rather have Lee or Parra the next two years? i would say lee However the way i look at is in 2011 i think some of these younger arms in the minors may finally be ready and willing to take Lee's spot. Braddock is another guy that the indians may be intrigued by. He isn't far from the big leagues in fact i would look for him to be in a major league rotation next season. They need pitching and truthfully we have a lot of it but i think manny will have to go. Taylor Green and Jon Lucroy could also be in a deal as the Indians like the both of them last year.. Lee is the way to go in my opinion if they are to aquire a starting pitcher
  14. 1. Braddock 2. Peralta 3. Anundson 4. Arnett 5. Scarpetta I am very high on zach braddock and i got to see him pitch this year in Huntsville while we were on vacation and he was consistantly 93-96 and his changeup and slider were devastating. I know very little about Peralta but judging by the stuff everyone says he has he coud seperate himself however he is still in low A ball so lets see how he does a little higher up before we get carried away. And i love Anundson because it appears to me that he knows how to pitch and has life on his fastball and has put up just insane numbers in high A ball. Itd be nice to see him get bumped up to AA really soon so we can see what he can do. Arnett and Scarpetta are two other guys i need more time on but both have the stuff to be a number 2 or 3 in the bigs. i believe our rotation of the future will be 1. Gallardo 2. Parra 3. Braddock 4. Anundson 5. Peralta This could change depending on how Arnett does as he moves up the levels but until then i believe this will be our rotation in 2011 or 12
  15. Does anybody know where i can watch the game on MLB.com? i can't find it anywhere
  16. Well guys after yet another game lost to the cardinals and another game we fall behind them in the race for the NL central i'm seriously looking at our team and i'm not only concerned for the remainder of the season but for our future as well. We are getting not nearly enough production from the catcher's spot, shortstop, or right field. I'm just tired of seeing corey and jj and jason kendall doing absolutly nothing in games offensivly and just getting a free pass just because of their track record. We have gotta try something new. And the pitching staff: Can we really expect Yo to completely carry our pitching staff this year and in the future? The kid can only do so much.. I don't know what to think about this team and some of these players as we move forward. Casey McGehee has proven to me that he deserves a shot to be in the brewers plans for the future and for the rest of the season.. Mat Gamel i believe is going to be a stud at 3rd or wherever he may play, Escobar is an elite defender with speed and he is becoming a pretty damn good hitter as well... Ryan and Prince have already proven they are part of the future as well.. The catchers spot is still a little dim even tho salome is starting to warm up in AAA and the outfield is a mess with Cain being hurt this year and corey just seemingly not wanting to hit anymore.. What are some of your views on what the brewers have for the rest of the season and moving forward into the future?? Who should stay and who should go and who can give us a spark to start winning some games?
  17. I say there is no way he should be sent down. The only problem with gamel that I can see is that he's trying to do too much and striking out on bad pitches. The best solution would be to sit him down and tell him that he is the guy no matter what and plain and simply play h everyday. Bill hall has done nothin to earn himself the time be gets. Gamel doesn't yet know his role and that could be tough for any young guy to swallow. He needs to be thrown out there and mark my words we will see a possible rookie of the year.
  18. Well guys we just drafted Eric Arnett in the 2009 Draft. That means if we are lucky and he is as good as many including myself believe he is, that gives him about 2 years until he is up in Milwaukee. Jeremy Jeffress has the stuff to be incredible but he hasn't thrown strikes and he is a year or year and a half away yet. Odorizzi, Lintz, Scarpetta, Peralta, Rodgers are all at least 2 years away. I believe we will need pitching before that time. Why not Tim Dillard? The guy has put up solid numbers all the way through his minor league career and they are extremely good this year. Last year when he came up to Milwaukee he showed a hard power sinker that reached 96 MPH which is really good. He has thrown at least 7 innings several times this year and he doesn't walk many guys. I think that Dillard deserves a serious look if manny keeps struggling or if a pitcher goes down with injury. The guy has good stuff and has performed his whole career. I think he deserves a chance and i hope he gets it. How does everyone else view Dillard as a prospect and how do you think his future looks with the Brewers?
  19. I agree that having the best defender come in that won't give up unneccessary runs was the best choice.. and i'm also not a Hall supporter, i think he is worthless against righties however it was the right move at the time to bring him in. I believe that Mat Gamel will definetly start tonight against Lohse. We've already won the series, he's a righty, and Rickie is not going to be playing. If he doesn't start tonight then it's definetly time to worry and wonder what Macha has in mind
  20. http://milwaukee.brewers....mp;fext=.jsp&c_id=mil This move shows that the brewers still have high hopes for Rodgers
  21. If it was up to me i would trade fielder as painful as that would be for Matt Cain or Grienke or someonelse who is young and has 2 or 3 starter potential. Move Gamel to 1st Base and then aquire a veteran type player to play second base like the O-Dogg or Roberts or someone like that. Escobar at SS and Hardy at 3rd.
  22. No I made a mistake and missheard what they said. Pena is in AAA for the moment
  23. I too thought it was odd when they said Stetter. I think that Mota being traded or DFA'd is the way i see Pena getting up. I do want to see him up soon though. I believe that he is the kind of pitcher that if he throws strikes, can save the bullpen and help us get to the playoffs.
  24. I dearly apologize.. I thought this deal was official but i heard it wrong. They were all flirting with the idea of bringing up Pena and suggested that Stetter go down.. The deal isn't official. My apologies..
  25. Was just reported on ESPN Radio.. I think this is a great move. Stetter was a good left handed option out of the pen but had struggled lately. After Pena's performance last night in the AAA AllStar game he showed me a lot. An upper 90s fastball and a splitter in the lower 90s plus a slider. Pena IMO could be that guy the Brewers have been looking for to save their back end of the bullpen. A Great move..
