  1. It doesn't thrill me either, but it's above average for a CF and it's satisfied my expectations.
  2. I'd build a bathroom I can play baseball in. I love Nickelback. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  3. I called the Livan Hernandez signing a mistake at the time and compared it to the Ramon Ortiz signing the year before, and that mistake is being exposed right now because now they are committed to Livan in the $$$ department. Livan did give them serviceability for a half season, but was that worth 5 million dollars? I don't think so if it blocks a young pitcher from getting a chance in July. I'm pretty sure the Twins have other arms in AAA they could have used instead of Liriano, if not Bonser. And as lucky as the Twins are, I'm sure that player would have pitched like Sandy Koufax.
  4. I'd avoid the bleachers unless it's the family section bleachers. It can get pretty wild there.
  5. I'd avoid the bleachers unless it's the family section bleachers. It can get pretty wild there.
  6. Actually I expect Cameron to be slightly above league average which is right where he is at right now and it's where he's been at his whole career. Therefore I'm satisfied. I'm also very happy with his slugging percentage.
  7. Yes. I know this, but thank you. My point is that if he is above the league average in offense and playing good defense, which he has besides a few misplayed balls this year that stick in all of our minds, then he's right at where I expected him and I'm very satisfied with that. I think that being disappointed in Cameron at this point is not the correct, but that is just my opinion. OPS, OBP, OPS+, Runs Created per 27 Outs. All of those statistics have batting average somehow factored into them, but they also show more about a player than just the amount of hits they got per the amount of AB's. Since they provide a better picture of how Cameron is playing, I would lean towards those statistics as indicators and not just batting average. How do you feel about the walks Cameron is taking? Batting average doesn't take that into account. How do you feel about his slugging percentage?
  8. No, not if his OPS+ is 108. I'm not concerned about batting average. There are better statistics to look at out there.
  9. How much Major League Experience does Luis Pena have? To my knowledge n=0.
  10. Mike Cameron's Park Adjusted OPS+ in the last 4 years according to baseball-reference.com: 2008: 108 2007: 103 2006: 121 2005: 114 Note that the 2007 OPS is park adjusted so it does take Petco Park into effect. His average OPS+ from 2005-07 was 112.6. His OPS+ this year is 108. Does 4 points below really warrant a disappointment? You have to expect some sort of decline by age 35 in your expectations.
  11. That's a lot to ask for out of a pitcher that is of such a young age. If he comes up and has any sort of success, I'll be happy because that would be an upgrade over Mota.
  12. As long as you have the offensive firepower to hide a streaky player's bat in a lineup when he's not on one of his good streaks, then a guy like Branyan can struggle here and there and it doesn't hurt the team because when he goes on that tear, he's going to win some games for you. If Branyan was our cleanup hitter, I'd have an issue with the streakyness, but because his role is to bat towards the bottom of the lineup and only play against RHP, he's doing fine.
  13. Yes but his OPS is still the same if not better than his career average. He may be hitting less, but that means he's hitting more for power and his OBP is back up to .320 so in my opinion Mike Cameron is a solid B. Striking out more doesn't really bother me, but apparently it bothers you. Strikeouts do stick into people's memories more than a simple flyout does, but unless it advances a runner, you didn't really lose anything. I would be curious to see how Mike Cameron's Runs Created per 27 outs this year compares to his career average, but I'm not sure where to check that.
  14. You never did say that indeed, but since his numbers this year are pretty much on par with previous years as far as OPS, you're expectations of Cameron have been too high coming into this year if you expected more from a player at age 35. If that's not condescending, then I don't know what is.
  15. So you think a 35 year old player should go way above his career averages? I would differ from that opinon.
  16. Cameron has an .801 OPS this year if you haven't noticed.
  17. Don't say that! Robert Shapiro might be reading this! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  18. That's the tricky part. Especially for me. There's so much passion in sports, it's hard to discard that and think objectively. I am guilty of this as much and if not more than anyone.
  19. Just like the Pythagorean Theorem for calculating the hypotenuse of a triangle. I miss math class. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  20. Harden had 96 pitches when he left the game with 1 out in the 6th. That's not exactly efficient.
  21. Melvin and Yost are going to lose their job if we don't make the playoffs. Guys like Lucroy simply cannot be Players to be named later in deals unless it gets a tangible result. He's too important to our system.
  22. No, I wasn't being sarcastic at all. I was just seeing if we were on the same page. It looks like 1B is a position that needs to be addressed and maybe it was taken care of in this year's draft. We'll see in the coming months and years.
  23. Well if you look at that thread, it seems to point towards Nelson as a better prospect, but if you look at this thread a lot of people are down on Nelson. So I will conclude that neither is a good option to start at 1B in 2009 and that we should look at moving Gamel and his 24, 3B errors to 1B because we need the pitching from Prince being traded.
  24. So here in lies the question of who would be a better starting 1B in 2009 for the Brewers: Brad Nelson or Chris Errecart?
  25. I'm going to be saving this post for October 1st and then we will all see it again.
