  1. That's a little drastic. I'm sure we've had a homestand where we lost every single game and nobody cared. I'd consider that one worse than this one.
  2. Isn't Marquette doing something similar this year for their game vs the Badgers in basketball? It's a good idea.
  3. Weeks might have "achieved" his way to the bench.
  4. Of course I wouldn't be a good manager. I've never even managed a High School game. There's a lot of small details that I'd miss because I wouldn't have the experience of the job. If anybody on bf.net thinks they could step in and be manager or GM of the Brewers and do a formidable job, they are mistaken. I will rubber stamp that by saying that's just my opinion.
  5. Well I would be pretty confident in next year's team if we added another good pitcher or 2 in the Prince trade. Gallardo Parra [insert Rays, Angels, or Blue Jays pitcher] Suppan Bush That wouldn't be too bad depending on the pitcher that we got in return. I wouldn't mind inserting Adenhart in that spot, but I'd love to get Saunders or Ervin Santana. What is Garland's contract situation? He might be a good fit as an add in to Adenhart to even out the deal. I think our offense could manage without Prince by putting in a big bat like Gamel's, but that is just my opinion.
  6. Is it Manny Favre or Brett Ramirez? I'm not quite sure. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif It'd be nice to have Manny for a year or 2, but we simply can't afford him.
  7. Gamel has 900 OPS potential written all over him and of course he isn't a sure thing, but for $300,000 to $500,000 per year as opposed to 8-10 million per year, it's a pretty good bet that we'd get more bang for our buck with Gamel at 1B. Gamel does have more value at 3B so he should get every opportunity there, but if things are going like they are now with a 40 error 2008 season in AA looming, moving him to 1B at least has to be explored. For those of you not willing to trade Prince, I have a question for you. What is our starting rotation going to be next year? Gallardo Parra Suppan Bush McClung Is that the rotation you want? Because the odds aren't good that we resign Sheets or Sabathia so that's what you're going to get if we don't make a trade or look in Free Agency. And if you have to pay 40 million to get Jeff Suppan, guys aren't going to be cheap in FA so a trade would be the best option most likely. We also don't really have any pitchers in AA or AAA that are good enough to be in a major league rotation in 2009. Jeffress probably won't be ready until 2010 at the earliest.
  8. Not when you can spend a rookie salary on Gamel at 1B and get comparable production. Of course, but Beane always trades the players he knows he can't afford or sign to a reasonable deal. We aren't going to be able to afford Prince after his arbitration runs out, so why not trade him while his value is at his highest? Prince probably will flame out shortly after age 30 just like his father did.
  9. I'm glad I jinxed them. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  10. Is there a pitcher that is more unlucky right now than Johan Santana? Based on that turning around and many other things, the Mets are going to be in the race until the end. Carlos Delgado is on fire as well.
  11. Yeah we'll see, but it's only 12.2 innings. Even the great pitchers go through stretches like that in that small of a sample.
  12. There hasn't been a bigger game this season so far, and what's nice is they are all going to be this big from here on out. I love baseball.
  13. I feel so bad for Ron Ranto. (if you listened to the radio broadcast, you know what I'm talking about) http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  14. On the relative cheap? Is 10 million dollars cheap? That's what we will be paying him next year. Is Billy Beane not smart? He's trading his best players for minor leaguers. It's the model you have to follow if you're a small market team. That doesn't apply for everyone on the team, but it applies for players who have Boras as an agent and don't seem to want to sign long term.
  15. We really don't. That's just stuff for announcers to talk about when they run out of material. He might be having an effect, but it's not like a pitcher is going to say if they don't like how he handles them because the media would create a circus then. I'll go out on a limb and say he was better than Estrada though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  16. I think those 2 home runs just bought him 2 more weeks as the mostly everyday starter, unfortunately. Branyan should at least get 2 starts per week, though, hopefully.
  17. I think this only makes sense. There are other possible candidates, but the Angels, in my mind are the perfect match. I'd try to get Saunders or Santana in the deal, but if they don't budge, Adenhart or Wood would be nice with a combination of other prospects. Casey Kotchman wouldn't be a bad option to look at either.
  18. Turnbow was walking a lot more guys than Marmol was. Marmol only has 29 BB's in 55 innings this year, and almost a 3 to 1 K/BB ratio. I wouldn't make the Turnbow comparisons until we start seeing a lot more meltdowns and a walk per inning. A 1.06 WHIP is also nothing to be ashamed of.
  19. I think this is the best option we have left on the table. Brawndo brought up a good point in the chat room last night that you have to pay for saves and Marte is as good of a relief pitcher as any without many saves so we could get good bang for our buck here. Marte would be my #1 trade priority right now if I were Doug Melvin.
  20. Could you put the top 5 prospects of the Angels on there? I'm interested to see what they have for a possible Prince trade in the offseason. I assume Adenhart and Wood are on that list. Thanks.
  21. Since the Cubs have a rediculous amount of home games in the next month or so, I wouldn't be worried at all if I were them because they never seem to lose at home.
  22. Branyan still has a role on this team as a Lefty power bat off the bench. Many times he's the first player called upon to PH. I see no reason why you'd send him down to AAA if he still has a formidable role on the team. We need lefty bats.
  23. Given that we have to play the Cubs for 4 of those games, I'd take 4-3 and put it in the bank.
  24. So who do we root for between the Cards and Mets this weekend in their 3 game series?
