  1. Right, and like I have said previously, we may get bitten in the butt if we wait too long and he is gone. The only real reason I want in on Santana again is because he is a far better option than Bauers, and it isn't even close. I know we can fool ourselves into thinking we have a reasonable shot at Hoskins, but I 100% think someone else will pay him, and we'll be left with nothing if we wait too long.
  2. 100% agree. I hope he lands somewhere and has a good year.
  3. Yup, and in the end, when we inevitably miss out on Hoskins because a larger market team pays him, we'll lose out on Santana because he will be scooped up by someone else. If Bauers is our 1B come opening day, I'm going to be severely disappointed. SEVERELY!
  4. I'd take a year of Santana over two years of Ramirez, especially it it costs us a top 50 guy. Pass.
  5. My concern is we mess around and wait too long on Santana, and someone else gets him. If we go into the season with Bauers as our daily 1B, I hope like hell we have traded Burnes, Adames and Williams for future pieces...
  6. I think MA wants to stick it to CC in a very big way! I mean, he's a competitive guy, I just can't imagine that the thought hasn't crossed his mind. Will sticking it to CC be a driving factor in moves for the 2024 team? Probably yes and no. I don't believe that MA will risk the future of this team to beat the Cubs/CC this year, but there has to be a little bit of it in every big move. Maybe he will loosen the purse strings a little bit to drive his need to not allow CC to win the Central, but I don't see him breaking the bank, or doing anything that will upset the team in 2025 and beyond.
  7. and we don't have any of them now either... If we don't have the production replaced that they offered us after acquiring them, there is a pretty good argument that we have gotten worse... I'm choosing to believe that we do not go into the season with Jake Bauers as our starting 1B, there is just no way that happens...........................................right?
  8. Meh, then you simply have Alvarado pitch the 8th, with Williams as your proven closer. Imagine that starting rotation, with Alvarado and Williams to lock down the 8th and 9th?
  9. $$ talks, always has, always will...
  10. I just can't see them throwing 16 million at one guy, even if for only one season. I have been trained to think that is too much money, it's part of being a Brewers fan. I mean, if we really want to pay a bat, and according to most, Hoskins can be had for 2 years 32-36 million, why not take that route? We know that isn't going to happen though.
  11. Yes, I know I'm gonna get bashed for this idea, but he is still out there, and is going to want to prove something. Someone is going to sign the guy, why not us? I haven't seen a single thing about him this off season. Would he take a one year 10-12 million deal to cash in on a future multi year deal with someone else? Talk about a risk - reward situation...
  12. True, but then again, it's always the same people who argue with them...
  13. This is what we typically do every year, or so it seems.
  14. I should be a little more clear of my intentions when I post this meme. I post it every time someone says he is cheap, if I could post the meme in blue I would. It's not saying that I think he is cheap, just my failing attempt at sarcastic humor.
  15. If we don't sign Santana, Bauers will be our starting 1B in my opinion. We mess around and wait too long, Santana is going to be scooped up by someone else, and we'll be stuck again with no legit 1B. I feel that Hoskins is a pipe dream, especially now that a couple larger market teams have been connected to signing him.
  16. My gut tells me that Corbin will be pitching for a BIG MONEY contract this season. We should see CY YOUNG Burnes again if he has it in him!
  17. If the price is right, this would make sense. I am also not a believer in Moastereo as a key piece for a full season of 162 games.
  18. Hader got us Contreras, I will NEVER complain about that trade, especially with hindsight.
  19. If we still had Burnes and Woodruff anchoring the rotation, I agree, I wouldn't be as concerned. But the odds are that Burnes is gone, and Woodruff is already gone. Our pitching is going to be a giant question mark, no matter what fancy stats you throw against the wall. Our current offense (assuming Santana returns) is probably average at best. Add that to a rotation in flux, (I mean we know for certain we aren't going to sign a big name free agent) and showing concern is a pretty normal reaction to this team as it sits for the 2024 season.
