  1. Thank Youkilis.
  2. It's about time this stuff starts to come out in earnest. The surest sign of coming Cubs chokery.
  3. Nice job today by the offense. Beautiful day, roof open. Nice leisurely game today. Nothing real special.
  4. I enjoy the majority of the "This is SportsCenter" series. I find the recent Miller High Life ads amusing. The premise is insulting to my intelligence, though. Here's a crap beer, lets drink it and be proud of its crappiness because we like baseball and cheap burgers too. I do see it as likely being highly effective, though, so hats off to them. I also LOVED the shortlived "Terry Tate: Office Linebacker" series.
  5. For anyone who frequents Minocqua, I recommend stopping into the Northwoods Wildlife Center - http://www.northwoodswildlifecenter.com/ It's a wildlife animal hospital that caters specifically to non-domestic animals, and they give tours to see their "resident" animals - owls, turtles, snakes, etc. It's the kind of place that I'd imagine the elementary and middle schools use as a field trip stop often, but it's a really cool (and free) walkthrough if you need something to do.
  6. Oh come on... they should be flying him in to Reagan. Russell will send word of his arrival with a message-wielding carrier pigeon bludgeoned toward the team hotel with a magnificent hickory bat.
  7. Washington baseballsAre quivering in fear; a Plane lands at Dulles
  8. McClung goes 5 strong, throws tons of strikes (46 of 68), goes after guys. Torres has a strong showing closing out the game, despite Bill Hall buffoonery. Russell the Muscle is called up from Nashville. Cubs lose. Pretty good day, I'd say.
  9. John Grabow and Matt Capps with a big time relief performances to keep the Pirates tied up with the Cubs going into the bottom of the 14th. Go Bucs!
  10. I can't help feeling like the second to last pitch to Boone would be in the seats on a lot of other right handers. Thankfully, it was Aaron Boone. Solid win. Can McClung keep pitching against teams that haven't seen him long enough to bridge the gap until we can see if we want to be buyers?
  11. Well, Bill, that was an odd thing to do there. Odd thing indeed.
  12. They just showed a shot of where BA and Rock are, and the camera is actually positioned between them right in the booth, which would explain the strangely high angle. Also, it looks like it has to be controlled remotely, which is why the movement seems different. It's almost making me motion sick.
  13. I think that the funniest part of the whole Manny thing on Wednesday was the shot of him and a couple other guys in the dugout watching the replay on a nearby TV camera and busting out laughing. Usually I'm uptight about maintaining certain aspects of integrity in the game, but for some reason Manny just makes me smile. Maybe it's because I know that, deep down, he's just a nutcase on his own planet.
  14. I enjoy it. I appreciate the distinctiveness of the two leagues and the intrigue that comes with the All-Star Game and the World Series, but it's great to be able to see just a couple different teams each year especially when it's tough for me to afford to get to any AL park to see games (w/ time, money considerations, etc.) For me as a baseball fan it adds a little more interest and still regularly fulfills "What if?" scenarios (as evidenced by how excited I and others are to see the Brewers play at Fenway), and in seeing the team in person it makes the whole of Major League Baseball just a little more accessible.
  15. Squirt? Sprite? Soda? Sour? Sweet? Cyanide?
  16. I want to say I picked up Jeff DaVanon on my fantasy team in '03 after his flash in the pan. Whoops.
  17. It's possible that you're just craving it a bit - I have always been a big, big citrus eater myself. I'll fly through a bag of oranges/grapefruit/etc. super fast. Anything with lots of acid, basically. I wouldn't worry too much about it, because you're getting your fill of Vitamin C now if you're eating a lot of oranges. Since Vitamin C is a water soluable vitamin, any extra that your body doesn't use just passes through.
  18. Student for 9 more days. That's 216 hours. And Counting. Summertime: Sailing instructor for adults and youth
  19. Like people have said, a lot of it has to do with what type of learner you are. I'm a big fan of the VAK (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic) model of learning - more info can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Learning_styles#Visual.2C_Auditory.2C_and_Kinesthetic To those who like to write things out, even that can be Kinesthetic. Most people are some form of combination of the learning styles. I'm mostly kinesthetic and visual. If something is just auditory (like a professor talking at a podium with no powerpoint or notes) I get lost/disinterested really quickly.
  20. Yes, it sounds like for you it'll take some sequestered time in the library or other quiet spot. If you only have a small amount of time you'll have to be productive so reducing distractions is a must. While I know some people (like myself -- just check the timestamp -- or gbpacker40) are productive at late hours, it will generally be a mistake to cut out a good night's sleep if you are memorizing concepts or terms. In my opinion, if it comes to it, you're better off studying 75% of the material and getting to bed than taking an extra couple hours to cover everything and then miss out on sleep.
