  1. leaving on wednesday and was curious as to the time of games. on the brewers website it has start times of 3:05 central. from my understanding Arizona has no daylight savings time, so what time do the games start there?
  2. as bad of a hitter counsell is, he's still getting on base a heckuva lot more than the great Bill Hall is lately. I guess i don't have as much of a problem with counsell as most, granted I don't ever want to see him as an everyday player. I hope he gives Kendall a day off soon too
  3. pretty bush league in my book and makes the entire organization look like a laughingstock. what's the point with 12 games left. is it his fault his hitters forgot how to hit? while i agree that if they did not make the playoffs, at the end of the year he should have been fired, this is useless. so long ned, you didn't deserve it like this
  4. I blame Ned Yost http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  5. I like and support them all because they're on the Brewers but my favorites are: 1)Braun 2)CC 3)Sheets 4)Hardy 5)(tie)McClung Branyan
  6. totally agree with you. the original reason i enjoyed coming here was to learn more things and to see what other people thought about all things going on in Brewer world. I still get that but it seems like there are way too many extreme comments that are just way over the top, especially the Yost thread. Seems like just way too many angry posters lately, much like talk radio hosts and callers, instead of trying to learn while stating your own opinion, its many posts just complaining about a particular player, coach, or situation. I like posts that make you think, even if i don't necessarily agree. its not just here that its bad though. i have a harder time even talking about the Brewers with any one at work. it seems its always, so and so sucks, why are they doing this, etc. and it just gets so old I don't even bother trying to talk Brewers or baseball with many people anymore.
  7. you're not the only one. i could care less what a manager says to the media, not the most important part of his job. this whole thing is not on Ned and he is right in saying its none of our business. i'm sure the team is handling the situation internally, and what that is is none of our business either. sure I'm curious as to what it is but I know its none of my business. I was more mad that they lost the game and still aren;t hitting the ball well. lets keep it in perspective, winning the games is most important. hanging out with people with different attitudes and opinions for 8 months, these things will happen, its just too bad it couldn't have happened in the clubhouse instead of the dugout where it can be overanalyzed to death.
  8. I'm sorry if anyone disagrees but Ned is not the reason that the team has totally crapped themselves in this series. It is a combination of the Cubs pitching and hitting ridiculously well, and the Brewers not being able to get a hit with RISP if the lives depended on it, plus this type of baseball just happens during a long season. While I thought it was weird that we hit and ran with the pitcher up to bat, Parra has definitely shown that he can handle the bat well, and with the way the team is playing, Ned has to try anything and everything to get them out of their rut. Maybe the team needs to head out to Water Street as a group and find some Slumpbusters.
  9. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Hang out with your friends and have fun, its what that age is for. That age was the best time of my life, don't worry about a girlfriend for now, you're living the High Life right now
  10. No way. Look at his OBP http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif In all seriousness though, I think in the last couple of weeks he has definitely entered the discussion, and if he keeps it up I believe he has a chance, allbeit a small one right now.
  11. you're 100% wrong in everything you just said. he is no where near any comment you just made. i smell a cubs fan
  12. perfect post, couldn't agree more. although I was hoping he would take Suppan out, these things happen every year to every manager in the league, so I understand. It's too bad there is not a perfect manager out there who makes perfect decisions every game.
  13. I absolutely loved it. It was a huge moment in the game and obviously you're going to show some emotion. If it was the first inning or they were getting blown out that is one thing, but to have it put the team in the lead in the ninth inning I think its perfectly acceptable to sit and watch for a bit. The whole you shouldn't show much emotion thing in baseball is ridiculous. If a pitcher wants to pump his fist after a big strikeout, great. If a batter wants to do the same thing I say great as well, it shows they're human and are as excited as we are. How many of you who didn't like what he did were going crazy for that home run in your house? Now just imagine what he felt when he hit it. Can you realize now why he reacted like that?
  14. I thought about the PSP as well, but I think I'd like a system that is not handheld. For $125 or whatever they are now, the PS2 is cheap enough for me, I just thought it was likely that the new games would stop coming soon. Maybe I should just hold out until Christmas and hope for a PS3 price decrease or for Santa to bring me one http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. I've been somewhat interested in getting a new video game system. I don't play much and when I do it will be pretty much all sports games. Due to not playing it much and the ridiculous costs of the new systems, I was thinking of getting a PS2 due to it being much cheaper. My concern is that as soon as I pick one up they will stop making new games for the system and I will be stuck. Does anyone here have any clue on if they plan on making new games for the PS2 for the foreseeable future or are their plans to stop making new games soon?
  16. The wife and I just booked our flight today! I can't wait, and the best part of it is it was her idea. I have no idea where we're staying but I'm guessing in the Phoenix area. We're heading out March 11 and staying until March 18. Definitely need to do more research on the nightlife. I'm for sure not the club kind of guy, but would love to find some bars and venues that have bands.
  17. that is true. my main point was that they are on TV now to generate revenue, and while they have been around for a long time, now that they are on TV, people can be even more critical of a manager for what is mostly inconsequential material. i'm sure when they weren't on TV mamny, many managers acted even worse than Ned. A fan may think that he is entitled to a better answer than he gets, but in reality he is not.
  18. his job is to manage the team, talking to the media is a very minute part of his real job. these post game press conferences are mainly just so people watch and more advertising revenue can be generated anyway, same with the pre game shows.
  19. I think it comes from being questioned for 162 games that probably waers on any manager. Also having to answer the same questions night in and night out will probably cause anyone to not think about the answers given and just spout off the most basic answer. If he's not a nice person to the media, that doesn't mean he's a bad person. Heck with some of the dumb questions the media asks i"m surprised any manager can tolerate them. I know there are good reporters, but their are also a ton of hacks out there who want to bait and get people angry.
  20. This is a really good discussion and the feedback is well thought out, I wish more of the discussions could be like this one, too often it gets out of hand. I see your point and agree that sometimes he could be more forthcoming in his answering questions of the media, but as long as he is addressing the obvious concerns internally, then that is all I care about. I would rather have him answer questions poorly to the media and be forthcoming with players internally, than be eloquent with the media and have no idea how to address the players
  21. We'll have to agree to disagree then because I think his responses to these questions are inconsequential to the job he's doing as manager and have absolutely no bearing on the job he's doing. In the grand scheme of things as long as he's good with the players and the players enjoy playing for him and respect him and play hard for him that is what should matter. Not some answer to a silly question in a post game interview. Who cares if he's not good with the media. (edit: nested quote --1992)
  22. I agree that the whole "isn't nice at answering reporters questions argument for why he is a bad manager"is absurd. Why does this have any impact on how he manages the team. To answer some of these questions, especially after a hard loss, must be very difficult and should have no bearing on what he does as a manager. I don't think he should have to let the fan's know everything that is going on behind the scenes. its really none of our business. And no its none of our business because "we pay for tickets and their salaries therefore we should no everything". That argument doesn'e hold any weight in my book. I would give Ned an A- this year. He has done very well with this team, and after a slow start have rallied and he has to be somewhat of a reason for this, although they probably would have anyway. He has done better managing his pitchers and although there have been questionable decisions, if you watch any other team, those mangers face the same decisions that back fire just as much.
  23. what is rickie week's new song? the wife knew it but i can't remember it now
  24. gritty battler's are my favorite. here's my dream team, a team of David Eckstein's and Ryan Theriots's. with their OBP and gritty battleness, the Brewers would be unstoppable! Better talk to Doug about that
  25. with an obp like that he should not only be out of the all star game, he should be in th eminors or traded. who needs a player like that. trade him for Ryan Theriot, he at least has a .390 OBP, plus he's gritty, which I like
