  1. Predictions for # of pitches thrown in the bottom of the 9th?
  2. I thought the same thing. While I always look forward to the awesome IGT opening posts, if they win without it, is it wise to tempt fate?
  3. What is the longest losing streak of a team that went on to make the playoffs? Where would I find something like that?
  4. I agree. I don't remember them being this bad in previous seasons. Maybe first place is going to their heads. I keep expecting the camera to cut to them and see that they're wearing cheerleader outfits. I also can't stand the way they act as if Helms was actually really good in Milwaukee and the fans there are irrational about his performance. And that the only reason the Brewers are below .500 is because they've played the Marlins.
  5. I agree. I don't remember them being this bad in previous seasons. Maybe first place is going to their heads. Maybe the Brewer's season just has me more irritable than normal.
  6. It may have been the calmest vent of all time. I would just like to see Braun or Fielder come to the plate with runners on base and not swing themselves to oblivion trying to hit a homerun. While I realize gappers have a lot to do with good fortune (you can't really aim for the gap) it seems this team rarely hits a line-drive to the gap, and certainly not with runners on base. With runners on base they seem much more likely to pop out to the catcher. That frustrates me.
  7. Were those back to back HRs? How many times have the Brewers given up back to back (to back) this season?
  8. Wouldn't want the Brewers to get too excited about that last inning!
  9. So, is there room for a quallitative analysis of baseball to respond to Sabermetrics?
  10. Wow Ignitor, you really ignited something with that post!
  11. I think the Brewers all need Lasik. It would be a good promotion for some local eye surgeon.
  12. Because a 2 - 1 loss is more fun to watch than 7 - 1? Because it's nice to have a pitcher with enough composure to overcome a bloop rbi
  13. I like the Gagne Grade. It's depressing, but I like it. Hmmm. I missed last night's debacle, but I'll be back in front of the TV tonight. The bats can't lay dormant much longer. Go Brewers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. This is probably a stupid question, but these kind of comparisons always make me wonder: doesn't a team that loses a lot of games always end up 'having played' teams that have won a lot of games. Every game you lose is one your opponents won. So in the end, do the 'worst' teams record wise have stronger strength of schedules? It must cancel itself out over the course of the year as your opponents play 'other teams' more often than they play you, but still it makes me wonder. This is probably a dumb question, but maybe someone could explain my idiocy to me.
  15. I agree with the earlier lament, but also FTJs response. There is a lot of 'hating' on this board, but it's hate that comes from passion. I complain as much as anybody else, but it's only because when this team finally gets to the promised land no one will be happier than me. I think about when the Packers won the Super Bowl after the 96 season, and I multiply that by infinity to estimate my joy when the Crew finally wins it all. Relative to that perceived happiness, it's hard not to be extremely upset about the way things are right now. Also, why doesn't FSN-Wisconsin use the 'Pitch Tracker' that I see other team's broadcasts show (it shows pitch location)? It would have been interesting to see Gagne's pitches yesterday. This is the Vent Thread after all.
  16. Do any of the stat whizzes know how often Prince scores after hitting a single? It seems like a tall order to get him in without a homerun.
  17. I'm feeling oddly optimistic today, not just about the game but about the season. Maybe it's just because I can't imagine it could get much worse, but I think they'll break out in the next week and at least pass the Cardinals.
  18. I agree with this post. Eventually he's got to start consistently producing. I realize getting on base is important, but if you only get on base because you get hit or walked, it's not going to last. And the thing is, I still like him. Every hit he gets, I think, alright, here he comes. Edit: Leadoff homerun, I'm 100% behind him again!
