  1. Wow, cynical much?Nope, just realistic; and had a grandfather that was a pharmacist; and have had more than one pharmacological problem solved by pharmacists over the years simply because I had the knowledge to ask a pharmacist. Most people don't have that knowledge. You're obviously one of them and I don't mean that to be an insult by any means. Like I said, most people don't know to ask a pharmacist. Doctors, even specialists, study a lot of things. Pharmacists study drugs and drugs only.
  2. In many instances, all a doctor knows about a drug is what he's been told by the drug's sales rep. If any of you ever has questions about a medication, ask your pharmacist.
  3. People also react to different medications in different ways, not to mention the myriad possibilities of drug interactions to other drugs. I personally am 100% immune to Morphine, and am not alone in this. I think the number is 2% of humans are immune like me. I can't eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice due to one of my meds. I have had to change some meds because they interact badly with certain other meds. The point is, we don't have nearly enough information to come to any kind of reasonable conclusions, be they for or against.
  4. I'm just convinced we have some really dumb fans. and that.
  5. Also burnzy is there clarification that this is true "The likely reason that he is not having a press conference is doing so would be in violation of the arbitration agreement which was agreed to in the CBA. Right at the beginning, Braun's people stated that they couldn't comment further due to the ongoing appeal process. Haudricourt had it in a piece. I can't go look for it now, I get to go play with my grandsons (maybe GI Joe, maybe race cars- either way, I win).
  6. I thought he was completely innocent...what tactics are needed besides stating the truth? Ask that to any one of the thousands of innocent people sitting in prisons... and they had tons more rights/protections at trial than Braun ever will.
  7. In a word, yes. If you were going to court, would you state your specific defense and tactics to the public before your trial? Obviously this is a little different than court but it's still a hearing... Well said, rawbecht. I find it strange that knowing that Braun has far fewer rights and protections in this than he would have in a regular court, many seem to think he should be less cautious than one would be in a regular court proceeding. I just don't get that.
  8. So is having herpes like having a tattoo these days? I hope not. I've got a lot of tattoos.
  9. Obviously, we have very differing viewpoints as to what does and does not constitute humanity. I bet you guys are a riot at parties.
  10. Okay.. you're selfish. I'm a human being first and a fan second. Edit: spelling.
  11. I guess I'm in the minority here. I would much rather Braun get busted for PED's than for him to live with herpes for the rest of his life.
  12. More foolishness. This genius is trying to connect Braun's increases in SB and triples to PED use. No mention at all of the managerial change or the different philosophies in the running game used by those managers..
  13. I won't condemn him until he is proven guilty at all, but as far as the "innocent until proven guilty" clause goes, that is the creed of the American justice system. It has zero value when it comes to MLB and public opinion. You are, of course, 100% correct in this assertion; which is what's really troubling about it. It's a LONG way from "innocent until proven guilty" to "guilty until proven innocent." Sadly, many Americans today won't be able to grasp that. Not to mention that guilt has already been handed down in the form of the failed test. The onus is on Braun to prove his innocence via appeal. Nope. Braun hasn't failed anything at this point and he isn't even "guilty" in the strict eyes of MLB as yet. He has tested initially positive for a banned substance but that's all. It's an ongoing process. If/when he is found guilty, he'll be suspended. Then, and only then, will the onus be on Braun. I don't know that he will or will not be found guilty, but unless and until he is, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt; much as I'd hope to be given the benefit of the doubt if similarly bad allegations were made against me. Otherwise, this forum is basically turning into TMZ plus National Enquirer, shake it up, and pour it on the screen. Indeed. Between this thread and the "Greinke switched agents" thread, BF.Net looks of late much like the reader's comments on a JSOnline blog. WELL below normal standards; and that isn't on the mods- that's on all of us.
  14. I'll laugh myself silly if this turns out to be that Braun had a cold sore (HSV-1) and used a prescribed medication that caused this.
  15. I really want to believe Braun is innocent, but that fact has to be proven to me first. Wow. Guilty until proven innocent, and he hasn't even been suspended.
  16. Let us also remain aware of this: Priority One for many involved in testing, much as it is with many low level bureucrats, is to justify their own existence.
  17. Occam's Razor would suggest to me that the test is flawed. That seems to me far simpler than Braun beating the system for all these years. But admittedly, that could just be me.
  18. Funny how that works, eh? In face to face verbal communication there would probably be little to no confusion. Voice inflection, body language and overall demeanor would likely leave little doubt. When all that is lost and all we have are words on a screen, interpretation is so much more subjective.
  19. Fwiw (nothing), I read your question in the same manner as Backupcatchers seems to have read it.
  20. Hawing, Office Space is one of very few movies that I've seen so many times that I may know the dialogue verbatim. Yet, if it's on, it's automatic; I'll watch it again, and I'm not much for TV or movies.
  21. I still hold out hope, well beyond reason, that Prince will be back.
  22. Well, that tears it. If I'm the defendant, and I see any BF.Net gear on the jury, I'll just go ahead and strap myself into the electric chair.
  23. I have it on good authority that Braun's new-for-2011 hairstyle was brought about by his need to hide his forehead, which grew to 3 times its normal size over the 2010-2011 offseason and may or may not have started to sprout horns.
  24. What ESPN did wasn't technically wrong. 30 years ago, it would have been branded as "irresponsiple journalism" but that ship has long since sailed. There's little room in today's society for ethics. We need to look at ESPN's report just like a new car commercial. Meaning, they'll make any wild claims and allegations they possibly can, but as long as they are technically correct there's nothing to be done. Remember the old Dodge Dakota ads? "Best in class towing, hauling, horsepower, torque AND mpg!" What they never told you was that for many, many years the Dodge Dakota was the ONLY vehicle in it's class. I fully believe that Braun has initially tested positive for something. I'm just not ready to condemn him yet.
