  1. I hope most of you aren't on the jury if I'm the defendant. Wow.
  2. Ehh, I was eeled once. It's really not that bad.
  3. Hmm, I don't know, maybe because Melvin's and Attanasio's words and actions have given the fan's no indication that a payroll near $120M is even a thought. Haven't they basically stated that the payroll budget will not change much from last year? If I've learned nothing else over the past few years, I've learned to believe nothing that Doug Melvin says; and I mean this in a good way. It seems like every time we (as a fanbase) think we know what's coming, bam(!) he throws us a curve. Sabathia, Greinke, Marcum... who next? Maybe nobody, maybe everybody. I sure as heck can't guess.
  4. Morgan Hart Braun Fielder (Gamel) Weeks Lucroy Green Gonzalez Pitcher
  5. I was just glancing at this and Sheets is ranked as #100 out of 111 free agents available this year? I feel kinda bad for those 11 other guys. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/12/08/an-updated-look-at-whats-left-in-free-agency/ 100. Ben Sheets (N/A) 101. Ronny Cedeno (Pirates) 102. Lyle Overbay (D-backs): D-backs – 1 year, $1 million 103. Juan Cruz (Rays) 104. Aaron Cook (Rockies) 105. Reed Johnson (Cubs) 106. Guillermo Mota (Giants) 107. Ivan Rodriguez (Nationals) 108. Zach Duke (D-backs) 109. Dan Wheeler (Red Sox) 110. Mark DeRosa (Giants) 111. Chris Young (Mets)
  6. According to this, he will decline. http://hardballtalk.nbcsp...ill-decline-arbitration/
  7. That makes me giddy.
  8. Might mot be Merle. Might be just someone dreaming of Merle. If you've read the comic, please no spoilers (I haven't read the comic). Thanks.
  9. I fixed it. I still can't find my teeth and I may have soiled myself, but at least I have tunes.
  10. At what point do they realize that they have to save the human race and start actively breeding? Or do they decide not to save the human race? Lori's pregnant (by whom?), Glenn got Zombie Apocalypse Sex (maybe a baby, condom or no), so who's next? And will they try to chart things and avoid inbreeding as far as possible? I bet the old veterinarian is pretty accomplished in in-vitro. Just stuff to think about. And let me know if you find my teeth.
  11. Craig Counsell?"Those that can't do, teach." Counsell made a lot out of a little in terms of getting the most out of his limited skills. Maybe he can teach others to maximize their potential as well. To look at it another way, Rod Carew was a great hitter, but didn't have much success as our hitting coach. One thing that worries me, albeit very slightly, about Sveum interviewing with the Cubs and/or Cards is the relationship between he and Fielder. Could hiring Dale as manager give a team an inside track on signing Prince?
  12. I'll miss him, but the day I really dread is the day BA leaves. I've really grown fond of him, and sometimes it seems like I can "hear" Rock looking at him like "You little such and such; I'll strangle you." Anybody else ever pick up on that or is it another delusion?
  13. It freaked out on me again last night. Wouldn't boot from either internal HDD or the external HDD. I managed to save it via "recovery console" off of the system disk but it was a chore. At this point my only guess is that the mobo is dying a slow death. I found a new-in-box Asus A7-V400 mobo for real cheap so I ordered it. It appears to be the same board except it has onboard video and LAN. If the onboard video doesn't perform well, I have a couple of high-end (for this old stuff) video cards on hand, so hopefully I can patch it together and keep it running for another year or 2. What's really sad is that I have a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum sound card somewhere but can't find it.
  14. Cables are correct, and device manager shows all devices working properly. It's really making me nuts.
  15. Please don't, Craig. Just don't.
  16. My PC had a complete meltdown. It did all manner of craziness and then said "Primary Master Drive Fails." Luckily I had everything backed up to a second partition on that drive, so all I had to do was install a new HDD, reinstall XP, boot it up and recover all my stuff from the old drive's second partition. I now also have an external HDD in play. My problem is that I now have no sound, other than at post it talks to me ("System completed power on self test; computer now booting from operating system"). No system sounds other than that and no mp3's, streaming audio, CD playback,or anything else. The mobo is an ASUS A7-V333-X with onboard sound. All jumpers are correct and the driver is the latest and is properly installed to the very best of my knowledge. I've had this in the past and it was some simple setting, but I can't remember what. Old age blows. I've gone through "Media Mixer" numerous times and all seems well there. I have it set to 2 speakers, as I have the old Cambridge Digital Desktop 5.1 and that is how it's supposed to be set and always has been. I've gone through "Sounds and Audio Devices" in Control panel and all seems correct. I know this thing is a dinosaur, but it was a killer when I built it (10 or 12 years ago?) and I can't afford to build anything better at this time. Do any of you tech-savvy folks have the answer, or suggestions as to where I might look? I really like my tunes and stuff and this is making me crazy(er). Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
  17. Not trying to be a pain - I really did find it to be hilarious and I thought I'd give the right answer. No worries. I barely speak English, much less a foreign language. I'm more the "grunt ad point" kind of communicator. I just wish Yuni would have done something like that (with Yo translating, of course). It would have been hilarious.
  18. Someone needs to post the official BF.Net Gold Glove flow chart so that some of you can understand how this works. For those that have not seen it, you'll understand perfectly once you peruse the pure genius of it all. I'd do it, but I'm old and %*@%!@*+ and can't find it in my computer.
  19. I don't get the whole idea of standing there watching the ball to begin with. Can they not watch the ball as they run towards first base? Will the ball somehow go further if they stand still and watch it? What is this fascination with standing there watching the ball, especially since there's a chance of it being a really long fly-out? As for the hypocrisy, I would hate Braun if he played elsewhere, but love him here. Morgan I'm not sure what to think of. A lot of his schtick is funny, but it's gettig borderline and sometimes a bit tedious. I was hoping all year that Betancourt would end an interview with "Aaah! Yo vaminos!"
  20. I don't think so. I've been riding my whole life and have never seen anyone mime riding in that fashion. The hands wouldn't be at the eyes and only the right hand would twist, etc. It was definitely a crybaby thing in my mind.
  21. I would like to think that Lucroy has now shown enough so that RR wouldn't even entertain the thought of needing a gritty, battling, veteran backup to mentor the kid or bail him out of a tough situation.
