  1. Eh, I think you're right. Like I said, it was mostly gut-reaction, and a lot of it may have been based on last year before he came back up. He used to really like that breaking pitch outside. I would just like to see him be a little bit more aggressive on the 1st pitch. Obviously not all the time, but enough that he gets it into the pitcher's head so they don't just take a free 0-1 count every time.

  3. Right, but where would you put them then? On the bench? If they both hit the bigs with the Brewers, there won't be any room. I guess that makes them trading chips. Prince's arby will be pretty expensive considering what Howard just got. If he doesn't sign the extension, which I doubt he will, I could see him being traded 2 years before FA.
  4. But at this point, based solely on hitting, who would be projected to hit the bigs first? If LaPorta can hold off a little longer than originally thought, the outfield could project to be Braun-Hart-Gamel. Then if Prince leaves, LaPorta would be (hopefully) ready to fill in at 1B. Or LaPorta could move to the OF and Gamel could move to 1B.
  5. Yes, we should. The problem is that Rickie isn't picky about his pitches. He just takes some pitches and swings at others, and it seems like it's kinda random. If it's a bad pitch, you take it. If it's a good pitch, you swing. But for some reason, it just seems like these guy have this idea that if it's a certain count, you take it. Gut-reaction, but it has always felt like Rickie will take pitches until strike 2, then he'll start swinging. The problem is that it's 0-2, 1-2, or 2-2, and he ends up swinging at crap because the pitcher knows he'll swing at it.

  7. This would be embarrassing if I had been the one that posted that. Unfortunately for you, I didn't. Check the post again.
  8. It's unnofficial, but perhaps this will help. It looks about right to me.
  9. Why, oh why can't we have a DH...or two.
  10. There has been very little, if any, hindsight coming from most of us. Just because this particular thread has posts that were posted after the event doesn't mean the poster didn't feel that way before the event took place. And in many, many cases, the poster made their feelings known in a different place on the site. Seriously, the only argument that I've seen on this site so far to "support" Yost is that somehow, we're all using "hindsight". Because of this false hindsight that we are using, Yost is somehow a good manager? Absolutely false.
  11. And please don't use wins as a way to measure this.
  12. Man it was wonderful to come on here and see Sheets' name. Oh yeah, and that Cameron guy, too http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm so pumped for this game. I hate having to work until 7 and get home at 7:30. Come on clock, do you thing!
  13. I've said this about a million times on this thread alone...it's about probabilities. Ned puts the players at a lower probability of winning than a manager that makes common sense decisions. The reason that no one ever says that a win is "on Ned" could be a way of saying that we're unreasonable, or a way of realizing that Ned is just that bad. He doesn't outmanage other managers. I have yet to see it this year, and I can't remember any examples from last year. Any manager could make a bone-headed decision that ends up being lucky and working, or they could make the more logical decision and have it fail. But that doesn't make the bone-headed decison right and the logical decision wrong. It's my opinion that Ned makes a lot of bone-headed decisions.
  14. The problem is that there is no thought put into it whatsoever. What's the point of paying a guy to make a decision if he doesn't even make a decision? And I'm really getting tired of hearing that I'm just seeking reasons to criticize Ned. It's a completely empty argument. I feel that these decisions impact the team much more than others, thus the criticism. Seems to me that if we're paying a guy, he's there to make decisions. The last two conversations in this thread consisted of 1) picking names out of a hat, and 2) discussing whether Ned actually calls baserunning plays. In fact, that conversation consisted of Yost supporters saying that Ned doesn't make the decision for the player to steal. So now I'm getting confused...what does he do exactly?
  15. Because from the way it sounds, it wasn't because he wanted to give one of the guys the day off. He just wanted to give Counsell a start. Manager Ned Yost wanted to give either Hall or 2B Rickie Weeks the day off to let INF Craig Counsell see some action. If they both look gassed and need a day, it's one thing. But to sit a guy just because you want to give a bench player a start? Come on.
  16. So basically he's admitting that his decisions are completely random? I would think a manager would base their lineup off scouting reports and other things surrounding the game, the ballpark, the opposing pitcher, how well the player has been doing recently, if the player looks tired. Oh no, ours picks his out of a hat. I can't take anymore of this. I want to scream.
  17. Is anyone else having the problem where prospects are being trained more on power than contact? It seems like even the new prospects and draft picks come into the league with a ton of power but no contact ability, and even though I max out training $ on both contact and power, they always seem to gain points in power at twice the rate of contact. Any solutions?
  18. Anyone remember which one of these I throw with? Honestly, I see that as almost increasing his odds since he'll have more games to lose http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. 1986 Olds Calais, then 1992 Ford Tempo (worst car ever), then my last year of H.S. and first year of college was a 1985 Olds Celebrity...followed by 1996 Olds Achieva Apparently I had a thing for Oldsmobile. Wait, maybe the Celebrity was a Chevy. Oh well, it was a piece of crap but it started in the dead of winter. I'm now 26 and just recently bought a 2003 Hyundai XG350, which is my first "real" car. I was forced to buy a new one because the driver's side airbag on the Achieva went off. No accident, it just decided to go off and punch me in the face while I was driving. Needless to say, I love my new car.
  20. Wow. I wonder how much money he would make per loss http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Seriously, what a joker. From everything I've seen of him, he has no business being out there. There has to be something wrong.
  21. Very nice articles, Alex. I especially like the frame-by-frame analysis. I would be really interested in seeing something on Escobar. I don't get into the Minor League stuff as much, but I imagine he's one of, if not the, closest to the bigs. Watch your back J.J. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. doa, I think you're thinking of Pseudophedrine. That's what is in Claritin-D and Allegra-D, and it's also the reason you have to go to the pharmacy with your DL to get those medications. I used to take Claritin-D, then regular Claritin, and now I take regular Allegra. It hasn't been working all that well, but I think that's partially because I just had surgery on my nose 3 weeks ago and it's still a little swollen (not a nose job, btw). I'm actually excited to see how my allergies are when I'm fully healed.
  23. This depends on who you talk to. If you think we're heading towards a depression, then yeah, investing wouldn't be good. But considering the market is so low, investing now would be a great time because you would be buying extemely low. That is, if you think it will go back up...

  25. Very well said. I guess the way I've always seen this is that I boo Gary Sheffield, and there are 0 ballplayers that I would put on that level. So I'm not about to treat Wes Helms in the same manner. That would be disrespecting my feelings on Sheffield http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
