  1. Is there a pitch Johnny Estrada WONT swing at?
  2. Why do you say that? Because they don't have the pitching. Starters, or bullpen.
  3. This is not a playoff team. Simple as that.
  4. Nice job Claudio. Thanks a lot. God, I hate when the pitchers for this team ALWAYS seem to give runs right back when the offense rallies.
  5. As good as last night's win was, it means nothing if they can't back it up with a win tonight. The Brewers need to start winning some series, and maybe pick up a sweep or two.
  6. I find it odd that they're going with Suppan on Saturday on 3 days rest. I wouldn't be surprised if that changes, and they flip/flop Suppan and Bush.
  7. He may not officially be "done", but I dont see how he can be trusted in a close situation anymore. He threw 10 pitches tonight against the Mets, and maybe one of them were close. If Linebrink is with the club, this is his inning.
  8. Cant pin tonights game on Suppan. No pitcher's gonna win with a grand total of 1 hit in support in 6 innings.
  9. Your 2007 Milwaukee Brewers: snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!
  10. Man, this team just cant hit. This is sickening to watch. We've drawn 5 walks and have scored one run.
  11. If the bullpen doesn't cough up 3 leads in the last week, would you still feel this way? Overreact much? No, I wouldnt feel this way, because it would have been a much better road trip. And NO, I dont think Im "overreacting". This team lost 3 of 4 to one of the worst teams in the league and the last place team in our division, then blew two games where they led 6-0 and 5-0. Before that, they were beaten soundly in 3 of 4 at home by a bad Giants team, and are not far removed from losing series to bad Washington and Pittsburgh teams. This isn't overreacting. This is real. This team is playing horrible baseball. Perhaps if some of the players were "overreacting" like I am, things might change. Other than Ryan Braun, nearly every brewer hitter is under .250 for the month of July. Our starting pitching has been spotty at best. Our bullpen - touted by our management as one of the best in the NL - has given away three wins this past couple of weeks and nearly gave away a couple others. This isn't overreacting. Its actually realizing whats happening, and finding out a way to fix it...not just saying "its okay" and "theres 2 months left".
  12. I'm not accepting it this year. Something is wrong. Im not saying it should be accepted, Im just saying its the way it is. Because of that, changes need to be made. We were told as fans that being mediocre was no longer acceptable. Apparently, thats not the case. But, as long as the home games keep selling out, apparently the Brewers brass feel that the fans think its okay, which its not. If the stands get a little emptier in August, maybe their thoughts will change.
  13. Maybe its time for us as fans to come to come to the realization that this is just a .500 team...heck, they are 40-40 in the 80 games since April. They played an awesome month of baseball that gave them a decent lead in a bad division. When they had their 10-20 streak earlier this year, everyone else in the division sucked too, allowing them to keep their lead. Now, the Cubs are playing like they are capable, and the Brewers are probably reverting back to where they should be.
  14. This last week has been one of the most frustrating in recent memory with how we've lost the games. Its also just not how they've lost, its that they've lost to terrible teams. Losing 3 of 4 to a last place team is unexcusable. Losing leads of 6-0 and 5-0 against a sub-.500 team is unexcusable. Ned Yost and this team need to come to the realization that everything isn't just "okay".
  15. And you know what? There's still 2 MONTHS of the season left. 2 MONTHS! 2 MONTHS! Im going to keep saying it as if it could ever sink in Yes, there's two months left. And since finishing April 17-9, this team has gone 40-40 in the near three months since. This team has played one good month of baseball all season, has been the definition of mediocre since, and has been buoyed all season by being in the weakest division in all of baseball.
  16. So, any discussion thread starting a topic on how we treat the rest of the season is considered as a "vent"? Give me a break, man. I know some of these topics are being discussed elsewhere, but that doesn't mean the thread I started doesn't belong. I wasn't venting, I was hoping to start a meaningful thread. Apparently, you have to have a "positive" thread, be one of the "moderators", or have thousands of posts to be able to start a thread.
  17. Looks like people are gonna care about Packers training camp after all. Hey, it starts this week! Woohoo!
  18. Since my last post got locked out because of an error on my part, lets try this again... In what appears to be another blown victory today for this team, and the Cubs now just one more win away from taking over 1st place, I think its now time to consider what direction this team goes for the rest of 2007. - Is Ned Yost really the manager this club wants in 2008 and beyond? I feel that because this team is young enough and has not peaked yet, after this season is the pefect time to rid Milwaukee of this manager who, while no doubt being a fine "people-person" and manager of personalities, is at best a below-average baseball manager who consistently makes poor after poor in-game decisions. - The closer situation. If it is decided if Cordero wont return for '08, the Brewers need to start looking at possible candidates in this role...perhaps Villy, Linebrink (if he is offered arby or is re-signed), perhaps even the newly acquired McClung. - Is Rickie Weeks the future of this club at second base, or is it time to at least look at alternatives? Sure, the wrist may be bothering him to some extent, but his complete lack of focus at the plate this year has to be cause for concern. - Its time for a complete overhaul of our bullpen, especially middle relief. Turnbow continues to be untrustworthy, Wise is inconsistent...its clear that our bullpen needs to improve to be a true contender in '08. Its time to make serious thoughts about the future, folks. In what directions do we go for next year?
  19. One thing I will say: I like the trade a lot more for the Brewers when you hear vet pitchers like Trevor Hoffman and Jake Peavy bash the Padres for trading him, as they were both quoted publicly yesterday.
  20. I havent sifted through all of the posts in this thread, so I apologize in advance if some of my thoughts are duplicated from others here. I personally have no problems with the deal. Lets remember that Doug Melvin and Jack Z are two top-notch people in terms of scouting and development...obviously, they felt that letting Inman go for a half-season rental of Linebrink isn't going to damage this team for the future. While Inman does have upside, he also has a lot of things about him that aren't so good. As far as Linebrink goes, I think he hops right into the top setup guy in the bullpen. Lets remember that Carlos V has thrown a TON of innings so far this year, and the chances of him wearing down in August/September are mighty good at this current pace. That, and Matt Wise seeming can't pitch back-to-back days, sometimes leaving Yost problems in organizing the pen on a day-to-day basis. Getting Linebrink allows Yost one more arm in that pen to keep the strain down for everybody. Also, keep this nugget in mind...Cordero is likely gone after this year. While Linebrink is also a FA, perhaps the Brewers want to look at him as a possible closer option next year. He has the stuff to do it, and will be a cheaper option than just about any FA closer on the market.
  21. There's no reason Villy shouldnt be this team's 8th inning guy, at least for the rest of this year. None whatsoever.
  22. What the hell is wrong with our bullpen? Good god, an 0-2 count and Villy serves a meatball that Encarnacion nearly gives the Reds the lead on.
  23. Get him out, Yost. Now. This is where managers make a difference.
  24. Turn-blow. The starting pitchers should revolt if the bullpen blows this one. Doug, we need bullpen help. ASAP.
  25. Torn tendon..... oh dear That's what the Brewers were expecting. The key is just how bad the tear is....if its like the one they saw on the MRI today, its the two-three week recovery. If its totally torn under the knuckle, its six weeks or more...supposedly those tests are coming tomorrow. Just as a word of comfort, every time something is "sprained", something gets torn. Its just a matter of how bad it is.
