  2. Once again, I am no meteorologist, but in watching the radar around New York there are some showers moving through right now but there appears to be a clearing in the near future - at least thats how it looked on the radar map I looked at. Didn't look like anything too heavy. Any New Yorkers on here that could confirm or update us??
  3. Personally, I think he deserves a ton. He was put in a tough spot when he took over a struggling team that lacked confidence after the Philly debacle. Since then, he has handled everything in stride and with sheer professionalism - despite what a mess the starting pitching was/is not to mention injuries to Kapler and later Durham. In my mind he has made all the right calls. He seems to have something that I never thought Ned had - a true feel for the game. A prime example was tonight when he stuck with McClung, especially in the 9th. He could tell how bad Seth wanted it and the conviction he had. Also, when he let CC go back out for the 7th. To me he just has a feel for the game, this team, and the players that Ned never seemed to have and I am pumped about it! What do you guys think? PS I'm kind of drunk - had to celebrate what a great day today was! (mod note: added to Designated Threads List; also note that the Who's the manager in 2009? thread has been designated for discussion of Dale's 2009 managerial performance. --1992)
  4. Yeah, that dork killed us last night. RICKIE!!!!!!!
  5. I may be biased because I was one of the few that was very pleased to see Dale replace Ned, but it sure seems like he has made all the right moves (someone with computer skills should put up a pic of that movie or something)
  6. Its amazing what having a pro-active manager can do for you. Ned would have waited for Ray to tear his hamstring and then denied that he was hurt and then would have said these things happen
  7. I may be in the minority on this, but I am a big, big McClung fan
  8. Best flare I've seen in a long time! Maybe a coupla those for Corey tonight will get him goin
  9. I'm sorry, but that was just a great piece of hitting
  10. Good inning Seth and great throw Jason!
  11. Maybe that will scare Lou into sitting the starters now! Man, I sure hope he takes Dempster out now
  12. I know and I agree. I was just laughing because he has been so bad lately that we all expect the worse at the first sign of trouble
  13. I've been watching the whole game but just got to a computer - its pretty funny reading through the IGT and seeing all of the Suppan bashing going on. Looks like he's pitching pretty well to me! Although the defense has definitely helped him out a lot! Keep it up Soup! Thanks for keeping us in the game Soup and D. Now lets go bats - get Dempster out of the game and get some runs!!

  15. Hardy "tweaked" his thumb By Tom Haudricourt Friday, Sep 26 2008, 04:00 PM Everybody can settle down now. I just talked to J.J. Hardy and he said he's fine. Hardy said he "tweaked" his left thumb during the scrum around home plate last night after Ryan Braun hit his walk-off grand slam to beat Pittsburgh. Hardy had trainers look at it after the game and it was determined to be nothing major. Hardy said he was surprised today when word began circulating that he had a hand injury, possibly a major one. "It's nothing," said Hardy. "I just tweaked out there. I don't even know how." Hardy came out early today, put his fielding glove on and determined the sore thumb was not enough to keep him out of the lineup tonight against Chicago. He said he made a conscious effort to stay on the outside of the pile of players and therefore was surprised he tweaked the thumb. "I don't want to get in the middle of that," he said. "Every time that happens it's a possible disaster. "We're not just tapping each other out there. We've got spikes on and people are stepping on each other's feet. I'd compare it to a mosh pit at a heavy metal concert."
  16. Looking at the forecast and the fact they continued to play in the rains they got last night I would say there is a pretty good chance they get the game in tonight. Or at least get it started
  17. CF Mike Cameron 2B Ray Durham LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder SS J.J. Hardy RF Corey Hart 3B Craig Counsell C Jason Kendall RHP Jeff Suppan Shortstop J.J. Hardy is in the starting lineup for the Brewers tonight against the Cubs, so either he wasn't hurt in the celebration last night, as speculated, or it's not enough to keep him out of the lineup. The other alternative would be that Hardy is tentatively in the starting lineup. We won't know for sure if anything happened until we get to talk to Hardy or interim manager Dale Sveum later. If you read the earlier Brewers blog, you know that there was speculation that Hardy was injured, possibly hurting a hand, in the home-plate celebration last night after Ryan Braun hit his walk-off grand slam against Pittsburgh. Assistant general manager Gord Ash, through media relations director Mike Vassallo, said he would have no comment until he heard more about the situation. So, either Hardy never was hurt, wasn't hurt that bad or he's tentatively in the lineup pending the pre-game workout. We'll let you know as soon as we hear.
  18. That's wonderful news and I hope that is accurate! The last thing I wanted was to get everyone's heart in their throats. I was told it was a hand injury and that it was serious. Let's hope what olliegjw is reporting is right and that it is less serious, although a thumb dislocation could still be somewhat hindering - especially if it is on his throwing hand.
  19. That would be great news given that he is actually well enough to contribute and not actually hurt the team
