  2. All valid points. To me, the fact of the matter is that Counsell will be starting one way or another tonight - whether it be at short or 3rd. So why not put Counsell at 3rd and Escobar at short? Considering the options: Hall at 3rd against a tough RHP, Lamb at 3rd who is left handed but apparently not too sharp defensively, or Branyan if he's available defensively, which I'm not too sure he is. At the very least you would have a strong defense on the left side of the infield against a team that pulls the ball quite a bit and Suppan who is usually a ground ball pitcher when right. Plus, should Escobar get on base, he has great speed.
  3. I really wish I knew for sure if Branyan was available defensively. I would love to see him at 3rd tonight - this team could use his pop with JJ out
  4. I agree. If they are so enamored with Counsell, put him at 3rd, although I would like to see Russell if he's healthy enough
  5. Is it confirmed that Branyan can't play the field? I think he could put up a line like that against righties, for sure. The offense will certainly take a hit against lefties, though, with Counsell in there. That's what I thought I remembered reading or hearing, but I am not 100% sure. It could change due to circumstances. I would bet it is not Branyan saying he can't play the field.
  6. Defense seems pretty important to Sveum and rightfully so. I would think that when you lose your best defender (besides maybe Cam) that you would want to give Escobar a shot seeing he is considered a phenomenal defender. I have seen very few of his at bats, but in the ones that I saw he did not look overmatched.
  7. I would never do that. I live and die with the Brewers and was as devastated to hear this news as anyone. I guess we will all find out tonight.
  8. Not even close. Don't even know who that is. I'm just a Brewer fan that hears things from time to time
  9. I'll be curious to see what they decide to do. Obviously it would depend on if we are facing a righty or lefty, but tonight I would imagine Counsell will be a SS and possibly Lamb at 3rd? I thought I remembered hearing that Branyan wasn't available in the field. I hate to even imagine us without Hardy right now, but it would be interesting to see Escobar out there, thats for sure
  10. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I have heard from a source close the organization that JJ Hardy injured his hand last night during the celebration at home plate after Braun's walkoff and is most likely done for the season. I was not told many details; just that it is a hand injury and that he is most likely out for the season. I do not know if that means just the regular season or if it also means the post-season should we make it that far. I am not trying to be some big newsbreaker here - just figured I would pass along what I heard from a reliable source. If you choose not to believe me, that's fine. Trust me, I don't want to believe it either. I am just saying keep your eyes and ears open. Please don't lambast me if you don't believe it. Like I said, I am just passing along what I was told, which is obviously not good news.
  11. Would Gallardo be available at all in the bullpen Saturday or Sunday if need be? You know their answer will be that they will have to wait and see how his body responds tomorrow
  12. Sounds like the rain should be pretty light til about 10, but I'm no meteorologist. I did, however, stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night
  13. I'll go if you don't mind picking me up in Eau Clairehttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  14. Here's the Brewers' lineup: CF Mike Cameron 3B Bill Hall LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder SS J.J. Hardy RF Corey Hart 2B Rickie Weeks C Jason Kendall RHP Yovani Gallardo
  15. I am really contemplating if I should try to take him up on his offer. I mean it isnt to often you can get free tickets, but they will be in the 400's for sure. They are actually scattered all over the park
  16. That's pretty awesome Gagne! Good for you! Take advantage people!
  17. IMO Hardy is the answer at 3rd. His arm would be a waste at 2nd. Has decent pop for a 3rd baseman and you probably aren't going to find a more steady defender, plus his lack of range won't be much of a problem at 3rd
  18. Besides having no faith in Hall I like the lineup. Dale doesn't really have any other option at 3rd against LHP, so I guess you might as well try to do something different in hopes that he will wake up, or get HBP, or something...
  19. Per TH: (please make it clear when you are quoting a source -TC)
  20. Did the same with my dogs - who in turn started barking - which in turn wokeup my girlfriend and hopefully my neighbors
  21. Ridin shotgun right there with ya man on all that
  22. Couldn't agree more on both accounts. I think Clunger would give us a pretty good start
