  1. There have definitely been a lot more chances being taken on trying to take that extra base and whatnot. I'm sure a lot of it right now is to see what they have for baserunning ability in some of the guys so they know how much they can push each of them during the regular season. I think Eddie Sedar's arm will be sore by the end of March
  2. Thanks a bunch for the info laserbomb. I ended up ordering a Seidio 1750 mAh battery for my phone but I haven't received it yet. It is the biggest replacement battery available that fits in the original door so hopefully it helps. I will have to try out one of the browsers you mentioned so I can get the full jsonline site
  3. It started late due to a ST game running over its time slot
  4. True. And that's a concern. But he is hitting .364 and taking a lot of balls up the middle and the other way. It's all small sample stuff but that changed approach is much important to me than those 2 numbers (0, .364) and could be huge if he sticks with it.
  5. Kottaras in essence played his way behind Lucroy by not being able to throw out runners. Nieves threw out 24% of runners attempting steals, better than Kottaras' credited mark of 15% (8 for 52). Kottaras actually threw out 4 of 48 runners (8.3%) but catchers strangely are given credit for "caught stealings" when the pitcher picks off a runner at first and he breaks for second. 6. I read 8% too...I think the 15.4% might've included baserunners picked off by pitchers? Either way, its bad
  7. I think there is a BIG difference between doing the non-baseball athletic stuff during the off season and doing it once ST has started.
  8. Betancourt with tightness in his right quad. Gindl with a right knee sprain. And Gomez 2-2 with a double and a 2 run bomb
  9. That's awesome and I'm pretty sure its not the first time Roenicke's mentioned being impressed with Schafer and Gindl this spring!
  10. Definitely. Schafer is considered an excellent defender with a strong arm from what I've heard and read. During the radio broadcasts and webcasts this spring there have been several mentions of how easy and effortless he makes it look in cf and how he carries himself as a guy that "just belongs".
  11. not sure about komatsu, but at the end of the game today with both gindl and schafer in the game, gindl was in cf and schafer in rf
  12. Agreed. I was just saying. I really like them both and will continue to follow Cain. I should note that I am a fan of Gomez also so I like where we are at in CF
  13. Yes Schafer excites me too. If not for the trade, it could've been Cain. I think he's going to be special
  14. A quick question that is somewhat related...I can get the JS Peanuts and Cracker Jack blog on my PC and our laptop with no problems, but I cannot get it on my HTC Incredible or our Xoom. Any ideas? Thanks
  15. Just a note on Reed that I've picked up on thru listening to the web casts and a few video clips...he appears to have a terrible arm
  16. Weeks...4 Counsell...6 Kotsay...9 McGehee...5 Almonte...3 Reed...7 Boggs...8 Nieves...2 Gallardo...1
  17. I wonder how big of a concern their coastal nuclear power plants are?
  18. Awesome prices! Very jealous of your trip! I must get to Fenway before its too late
  19. Interesting. Thanks for the info. I hope their prognosis on ZG is correct...
  20. Even on days when they need a 5th starter (6th, 16th, 26th)??
  21. Can't argue with any of that. I will say he is rather poor defensively; especially throwing the ball
  22. Lineup….. Weeks 2B Gomez CF Braun LF Fielder 1B Betancourt SS Counsell 3B Dickerson RF Nieves C Narveson P
  23. And at no point did anyone say that this was an incredibly aggressive game with elbows being thrown and the like. This is all speculation. The risk of serious injury from playing pick-up basketball with friends is so low that it's really not worth even considering, hence the fact that it's not prohibited by his contract. But the fact that he did get injured (and an incredibly minor one, at that) suddenly everyone becomes an armchair actuary and acts like it was an incredibly dangerous and high-risk activity to have even considered engaging in in the first place. He's a professional athlete in better physical shape than any of us probably ever will be, I think the fact that he isn't allowed to shoot some hoops with friends in his driveway without everyone wringing their hands over it is pretty ridiculous. What you said sounds very speculative to me. No one said this happened "shooting some hoops with friends in his driveway". I would like to think that an athlete of Greinke's caliber can go up for a rebound and come down on his own 2 feet so long as he isn't interfered with. The fact that he went up for a rebound and landed on his side fracturing a rib suggests to me he was undercut or pushed or contacted by someone. Sounds fairly competitive to me.
  24. Sure, during the off season. It would seem that a season consisting of nearly 200 games and everything that entails would be enought to keep him busy and in shape once it has begun.
