  1. Exactly. At no point did anyone say he was playing horse or anything as docile in nature. Sounds to me like it was a full on game of some sort - and knowing Greinke's competitive nature I'm guessing he doesn't play many sports half-butt; pick up game or not. As far as getting into a car goes, that to me seems like a necessity if he wants to get to and from Maryvale or anywhere else for that matter. If he got in a car accident that would be very unfortunate and just bad luck. Involving yourself in a game of basketball as ST starts is completely extra-curricular and unnecessary and something that should have just plain been avoided.
  2. Some very interesting comments from Roenicke on Greinke's injury and a few other tidbits- http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/117662418.html
  3. I can only speak for myself, but I wasn't saying that he was in violation of his contract. I had read too that DM already said he wasn't. I was just saying that getting injured playing pick-up basketball during the first week of ST isn't the brightest thing to do. He has all off season to play basketball. I know that he could get hurt then too, but if it were a somewhat minor injury such as this he would hopefully have plenty of time to recover as opposed to getting hurt once ST had already begun. For a guy that seems to hate any and all things that distract him from what he loves doing the most, playing baseball, I can't imagine he is real happy with himself. Melvin also said that had this happened in a men's league as opposed to a "pick-up" game and the injury had been more severe there would have been repercussions: From jsonline blog- I just spoke with Brewers general manager Doug Melvin about the manner in which right-hander Zack Greinke suffered a cracked rib, which will put him on the DL to start the season. Melvin said Greinke did not violate his contract by playing a game of pick-up basketball, which is how he was injured near the start of camp. "The contract stipulates against playing 'competitive' basketball," said Melvin. "They don't want you playing in men's leagues or things like that. If he had suffered a severe injury playing in a men's league, there probably would be repercussions with his salary.
  4. Couldn't have said it better myself. DM himself said had this been a more serious injury, there would have been consequences.
  5. I'm sorry, but what a ridiculous way to get hurt just as ST is beginning
  6. Casey talking about the incident with Colon a little bit: http://www.jsonline.mobi/...?ua=android&dc=smart&c=y
  7. FWIW, I think it'll be Greinke, Marcum, Wolf, Yo, Narveson...so Greinke on the 6th
  8. Just read on the Peanuts and Cracker Jack blog that Roman Colon struck Casey McGehee out with the bases loaded and 2 out in the bottom of the 6th and Colon celebrated rather loudly. McGehee didn't care for it and Prince came out of the dugout shouting at Colon and the benches cleared but nothing really happened besides some pleasantries being exchanged
  9. Not sure. But Roenicke seems to like him: Roenicke also said that Erick Almonte remains in the running for a bench spot because he has a good bat from the right side, and the Brewers want at least one right-handed bat there to provide some balance for what appears to be a left-handed-hitting group. That being said, I think the chances of Almonte making the opening day roster are very slim
  10. I agree with him needing to proving it. I cannot see a fault in attempting a bunt yesterday though. He is probably our best bunter and there is no better time to work on it than ST
  11. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/117592838.html Really enjoyed this read for several reasons. Great to see Gomez putting in all the extra work to try to better his approach at the plate. I, for one, am really pulling for him. I just like him and I feel he can really bring an element to this offense with his speed and agressiveness if he can get on base more often. I think his speed will definitely be utilized with Roenicke's approach should he find a way to do that. I also think its a testament to Sveum's dedication to and influence on this club. To me it is immeasurable. I really like how Gomez was basically willing to surrender and do whatever Dale tells him. I'm excited about Gomez's outlook for this season
  12. Because if you read between the lines on Roenicke's quotes he makes it a foregone conclusion. He's already counting him and Counsell as lefty bench bats; that's why he wants the final guy to be RH or switch (Boggs)
  13. Yes, that is just ridiculous that they black out a tape delayed ST game. What a joke!
  14. Not sure about the Milwaukee area, but I have rented porta pottys in Eau Claire a couple times for $75-$100
  15. Truedat Invader! Nor does he appear to wear the "skinny jeans" version of baseball pants
  16. Just curious if there are any early thoughts or impressions of our latest pitching coach. I really don't know a whole lot about him, nor have I found much reading on him. So I guess maybe a thread where we can discuss him and his influences on the pitching staff as the season progresses. Looking forward to what people have to say...
  17. Don't think so, but MLBN is replaying it at 8:30 I believe
  18. Ouch. Thanks Patrick. Now considering the Radisson Phoenix/Chandler...
  19. Anyone ever stayed at the Ramada Tempe at Arizona Mills Mall? How was it?
  20. Another question...I am looking to get battery life on my HTC Incredible than what the original battery provides. Any suggestions of a good place to buy an after market extended life battery? Thanks... Didn't want to start a new thread for this...if it belongs elsewhere please move
  21. It's great to hear people's preferences and opinions. I did not know blackberry had a tablet coming out. Very early impressions of the Xoom is that its very fast and not as similar to using my Droid phone as I thought it would be
  22. It may have been TH that said it...I really don't remember. I thought Gamel said that originally but I don't remember for sure and I don't feel like trying to look it up. I actually think this is may be 3 spring injuries in a row now?
