AZL Rangers 7 AZL Brewers 2 Box Score Rehabbing pitchers and few hits were the story for the Brewers. Andre Lamontagne and Vinnie Chulk each threw a scorless inning. Francisco Rivero, a bit of mystery man for me, was stretched out to 2 innings on the night. He held them as well. Next was Danny Keller and he did some Danny Keller-ish things (see: gave up a bunch of hits, walks and runs.) Carlos Sosa saw an inning and gave up a run too, but the big disappointment is how Zachary Quintana got smoked. At the plate, Dustin Houle went 2-3 with a 2B. No other hits or walks for anyone. Seeing how we played the Rangers, maybe now is a good time to remind everyone about one of the quirks of this past draft. Here is how the Rangers and Brewers picks stack up over the 1st 2 rounds. 1st Round: 27: C Clint Coulter (R-): 150 AB's .287/.429/.413 9 XBH 3 SB (37.5%) SOlid start to his career, but Brinson has been amazing. 28: OF Victor Roache (Instructs): NA, but his offensive ceiling is very comparable to anyone on this list 29: OF Lewis Brinson (R-): 216 AB's .301/.363/.565 36 XBH 13 SB (86.7%) With Gallo promotoed, Brinson is probably the MVP of the AZL League 1st Round Suppy 38: OF Mitch Haniger (A): 49 AB's .289/.379/.429 5 XBH 1 SB (100%) Not the same ceiling as the HS kids but there is still All-Star potential in the bat. 39: 3B Joey Gallo (R+): 177 AB's .288/.422/.718 33 XBH (21 HR) 6 SB (100%) Also, striking out 38.4% of the time, but he clearly has an 80 power grade. 53: P Collin Wiles (R-): 32.2 IP 7.71 ERA 22:11 K:BB Seen as an overdraft, but is super projectable. 2nd Round: 83: OF Jaime Jarmon (R-): 119 AB's .185/.326/.235 4 XBH 5 SB (62.5%) Raw as can be. 92: OF Tyrone Taylor (R+): 75 AB's .387/.434/.667 14 XBH 6 SB (66.7%) Was clearly headed for Brewers' Rookie League MVP award. Did Texas actually not draft a raw HS OF? I'll take him. 93: OF Nick Williams (R-): 182 AB's .319/.382/.467 17 XBH 14 SB (93.3%) Looks like another keeper for the talent laden Rangers. If I still care about such things in 20 years, it would be super-duper interesting to see which group of players produces the highest WAR. Texas probably has the betting edge for most scouts currently, but Brewers prospects always seem to squeeze plenty of value out of themselves despite less than stellar reports. Game Log

Deja vu on the final score me thinks. Helena 3 Grand Junction (Rockies) 2 Box Score Game ball goes to Tyler Wagner. Just a wonderful start. He recorded 21 outs allowing just 2 H 2 R 0 ER 2 BB while notching 7 K and a sparkling 11:1 GO:FO ratio. It has not been the smoothest transition to the pros for Wagner, but many expected that. If this kid can be a quick learner, he may just be a quick riser. Big arm that just needs some direction and innings. Mike Francisco tallied a save with 2 scoreless innings and 3 K. At the dish, Chris McFarland (1-4 HR) provided the big blow while Paul Eshleman (1-4) captured the GW hit. Adam Giacalone hit a 2B. So did Emmanuel Quiles and Jose Pena except both of them also added singles finishing the night 2-4. Pena and Giacalone each stole a bag too. I just realized I have been spelling Eshleman wrong. My bad Paul. Game Log Wagner was perfect through 2 and no-hitting 'em through 4.1 innings

Lakeland (Tigers) 3 Brevard County 2 F/7 Box Score Nick Bucci started the 2nd half of the twin bill for BC. He was what I would call sloppily effective. 15 outs allowing 3 H 2 R 2 ER 6 BB and 1 HBP with 5 K and a 5:3 GO:FO ratio. I am certainly optimistic about Nick going forward. Once he firms up his command again, look out. Eric Arnett finished the game with 2 IP but he gave up the winning run to Lakeland on a homer in the 6th. At the plate, Joey Paciorek had a very good game going 3-3. Reggie Keen and Nick Shaw were each 1-2 with a BB and Mike Walker had 2 hits. John Dishon stole his 15th and 16th bases. This BC rotation could be very strong again early in 2013. Gagnon, Miller, Pierce, Bradley, Moye, Goforth and Hall are all options. Although, the way Gagnon is going, he might be in Huntsville with Jungmann, Bucci and Nelson. Game Log That is just so Keen of him to do down 1 in a tight playoff chase. Brevard County Bottom of the 7th Pitching Change: Matt Little replaces Ryan Woolley. Joey Paciorek singles on a line drive to center fielder Luis Castillo. John Dishon pops out to second baseman Hernan Perez. Franklin Romero Jr. grounds out, pitcher Matt Little to first baseman James Robbins. Joey Paciorek to 2nd. Reggie Keen singles on a ground ball to center fielder Luis Castillo. Joey Paciorek scores. With Nick Shaw batting, Reggie Keen picked off and caught stealing 2nd base, pitcher Matt Little to first baseman James Robbins to shortstop Dixon Machado.

Lakeland (Tigers) 3 Brevard County 2 F/8 Box Score Man, what a tough loss and at a crucial time. Drew Gagnon continues to impress, this time in a big time game. He recorded 15 outs allowing just 3 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB and 1 HR. He notched 5 K and 2:5 GO:FO ratio. The fact that Drew is maybe 10th or 11th in the pitcher pecking order in the minors should have Brewers fans very excited. Just a solid prospect with room to grow. Greg Holle got 6 outs but he gave up the tying run in top of the 7th. Being a shortened game, that was not good timing at all. Alan Williams came on next and promptly allowed the winning run in the top of the 8th. At the plate, Jason Rogers (1-3 2B IBB) continues his assault on minor league pitching. Nick Shaw and Cody Hawn each had two hits. All of BC's runs came on a 2-run shot from Parker Berberet. It was his 2nd with the Manatees. Game Log Nice bounce-back for Drew. Lakeland Top of the 4th Tyler Collins homers (7) on a line drive to right field. Wade Gaynor called out on strikes. Dean Green strikes out swinging. Curt Casali called out on strikes. Holle almost squeaked out of it. Lakeland Top of the 7th Dean Green singles on a line drive to right fielder John Dishon. Offensive Substitution: Pinch-runner Matt Perry replaces Dean Green. Curt Casali out on a sacrifice bunt, third baseman Mike Walker to first baseman Jason Rogers. Matt Perry to 2nd. James Robbins strikes out swinging. Hernan Perez singles on a line drive to right fielder John Dishon. Matt Perry scores. Hernan Perez to 2nd on the throw. Michael Rockett flies out to right fielder John Dishon. Williams almost squeaked out of it. Lakeland Top of the 8th Pitching Change: Alan Williams replaces Greg Holle. Marcus Lemon singles on a ground ball to right fielder John Dishon. Dixon Machado out on a sacrifice bunt, pitcher Alan Williams to first baseman Jason Rogers. Marcus Lemon to 2nd. Tyler Collins hit by pitch. Wade Gaynor flies out to left fielder Juan Sanchez. Offensive Substitution: Pinch-hitter Luis Castillo replaces Matt Perry. Luis Castillo singles on a ground ball to left fielder Juan Sanchez. Marcus Lemon scores. Luis Castillo out at 2nd, left fielder Juan Sanchez to second baseman Shea Vucinich.

Grand Junction 9 Helena 0 Box Score Joel Pierce put together a pretty darn good outing with a nice 11 out start. He gave up just 3 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB while setting down 5 and posting a 2:3 GO:FO ratio. His ERA is now under 9.00 on the year. Baby steps. Connor Whalen pitched (1 IP 0 R) after Pierce pushing Leonard Lorenzo towards the end of the game. Lorenzo really struggled allowing most of the Grand Junction damage. Elliot Glynn was summoned to suffer through the end of this one. He gave up a few more insurance runs in the 9th. At the plate, Helena could not get much going. Ruben Ozuna did rap out two more hits. Jose Sermo hit a 2B among his two hits. Chrs McFarland also hit a 2B. Game Log

AZL Reds 1 AZL Brewers 0 F/6 (Completed Early) Box Score Not much happening at the plate. Jose Sermo went 2-3 with a 2B. SS Angel Ortega also hit a 2B in 2 AB's. Clint Coulter and Jalen Harris went 1-3. Dionis Hinojosa went 0-1 with a BB and 2 SB's. The pitchers were much more exciting. First, Eduard Reyes continues his fine season with 4 more very solid innings. He allowed 6 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB and notched 6 K and a 3:0 GO:FO. Rehabbing Santo Manzanillo finished the game with 2 perfect innings. No hits, no walks, no wild pitches, no balks and no K's. Just 5 GB and 1 FB for Santo. Dustin Houle has a clean 6 innings behind the plate. Can someone tell me if Wandy is related to Wily (Peralta, that is)? I spent 5 minutes trying to figure it out, and so far I see no mention of that. Game Log

Late rally powers Owlz past Brewers 6 hours ago • Independent Record Michael Snyder scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Sherman Johnson added an insurance solo home run in the eighth, powering the Orem Owlz to a 6-4 Pioneer League home win over the Helena Brewers on Sunday afternoon. Jake Boyd (2-0) pitched 2 2/3 innings of one-hit relief with four strikeouts to get the win for the Owlz on a night where both starters got roughed up early. Helena’s Ryan Gibbard lasted just four innings on the mound and allowed eight hits, three earned runs and a walk while striking out three. Damien Magnifico (0-2) entered in relief in the fifth inning and took the loss after a wild three-inning stint in which he allowed four hits and two runs, walked two, tossed a pair of wild pitches and struck out four batters. Orem starter Gabriel Perez stuck around for 5 2/3 innings despite giving up nine hits, four earned runs and a walk while striking out four. Robert Powell was perfect in getting the final two outs from the mound for the Owlz to get his fourth save. Wendell Soto was 2 for 4 with a double and a pair of RBIs to lead the Orem offense. The Owlz outhit the Brewers 13-10 on the night and stranded nine runners to Helena’s seven. Jose Pena had a two-run homer in the second inning that momentarily knotted the score for Helena early, and finished 2 for 4. Paul Eshleman and Ruben Ozuna had two hits apiece. Helena is off today and opens a four-game homestand against Grand Junction on Tuesday.

AZL Brewers 14 AZL Reds 8 Box Score Heck of a night at the plate for the Brewers. Patience, power, and plenty of contact. Leading the way was Clint Coulter (1-1 4 BB). Despite just 42 AB's his SR year of HS, Coulter has displayed an advanced approach at the plate. The K's are somewhat concerning as it they mat indicate a longish swing, but his overall numbers have not suffered. Coulter's August line: .333/.500/.529 with a 15:16 BB:K and 5 XBH. There are plenty of others to mention at the plate. Edgardo Rivera went 1-4 with a BB and SB. Jalen Harris went 1-3 with 2 BB and SB. Dustin Houle went 2-5 with a 2B. Taylor Smith-Brennan stacked good games with a 2-4 night with a 3B, BB and 5 RBI. Jose Garcia, who has been starting for the promoted Jose Pena, went 2-5 with a Bomberotti. Rounding out the hitters, Dionis Hinojosa went 1-2 with a BB and HBP making it three times on base for him. On the mound, Vinnie Chulk made a successful rehab start throwing the rare scoreless inning in this one. Mike Francisco was thrown to the wolves for almost 5 innings as he gave up most of the damage. Ryan Fasano did come on to close things out. Ryan got 10 outs allowing 4 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB and recording 3 K and 3 GO for a multi-inning save. Think back a few months to the draft. The Brewers are thinking hitters. We need a SS. Why not pop Tanner Rahier in the 1st or Suppy 1st rounds, right? In fact, after we did not, I can remember Keith Law chastising us. Law is bullish on Rahier, but our guy Coulter has had the better career thus far. After being taken in the 2nd round by the Reds and signing for overslot, expectations were that Rahier would hit the AZL League hard. That has not been the case. Game Log

Orem (Angles) 6 Helena 4 Box Score Another loss for the Brewers but there are interesting tidbits to mention. Jose Pena seems to be handling the promotion okay with a 2-hit game including his 2nd HR for Helena. He seems primed to join the full season ranks with a strong off-season. Ruben Ozuna was in the leadoff spot again and he smacked another 2 hits and stole his 9th base. Ruben turns 21 tomorrow and now, with a solid finish, can claim three straight solid seasons at the plate. The fielding is another story. Paul Eshleman, who is not the best with the bat, cracked 2 2B's tonight. On the mound, Ryan Gibbard was hit hard. The electric Damien Magnifico came on next for an extended relief outing. He was pretty good again. 3 IP 4 H 2 R 1 ER 2 BB 4 K 2 WP and 2:2 GO:FO for Damien. In all honestly, I was kind of expecting Evan Fredrickson-esque wildness from Magnifico, but he seems to have a much better handle than that. Cool! Alfredo Rodriguez went hitless and made his 17th error. Ozuna also made another error but he did gun out a guy at 2nd base too. Game Log

One silver lining for the 'Tees is that they roughed up Phillies prospect Austin Wright. Threshers rally to edge Manatees 14-13 08/19/2012 5:10 PM ET By Joe Charlton/Clearwater Threshers August 19, 2012 - The Clearwater Threshers won in extremely exciting fashion on Sunday, rallying to top the Brevard County Manatees 14-13 in a wild game. It was the day of the hitters on a sultry sunny afternoon, as the teams combined for 27 runs on 35 hits. There were also seven errors and 10 walks, contributing the matchup which lasted nearly three-and-a-half hours. Trailing 13-12 in the bottom of the ninth, the Threshers used two hits and two errors to rally and score the tying and game-winning runs to win in dramatic walk-off fashion. Neither starting pitcher found any kind of rhythm on the mound, as Threshers lefty Austin Wright was unable to complete three innings. He was tagged for eight runs (six earned) on nine hits, and also walked three batters. Manatees starter Brandon Williamson wasn't much better better, as he yielded eight runs (five earned) on six hits and a walk. Early home runs helped fuel the Threshers in the beginning stages of the game, as Zach Collier hit his third round-tripper in as many games, while Jim Murphy and Carlos Alonso also went deep off Williamson. Brevard's big inning was in the top of the second, as they plated four men off the strength of RBI hits by Nick Shaw and Shea Vucinich. The game's pace picked up in the middle innings, as Threshers right Hector Neris posted 3.1 shutout innings, while Manatees righty Seth Harvey went three shutout frames. The bats came alive again in the latter third of the matchup however, as both teams scored in the seventh and eighth before the Threshers put it away in the ninth. Brevard plated four more runners in their half of the seventh, as Juan Sanchez hit a two-run double while Jason Rogers and Mike Walker contributed RBI singles to bring more teammates home. The Threshers countered with one in the seventh and three in the eighth, as Pete Lavin, Harold Martinez, and Carlos Alonso all contributed RBI singles. In the bottom of the ninth, the Threshers put their first man on when Edgar Duran struck out but reached when the catcher's throw was errant to first base. After a sac bunt moved Duran to second, Jim Murphy lined an RBI single to center which scored Duran and allowed Murphy to go all the way to third on an error by center fielder Reggie Keen. Anthony Hewitt came on to pinch run at third, and after an intentional walk to Chris Duffy, Alonso lined an RBI single into right field to plate Hewitt and score the winning run. Martinez finished 4 for 5, while Alonso went 3 for 6 to help lead the home team. Rogers finished 4 for 6 for Brevard while Sanchez went 3 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs. The Threshers will take a day off along with the rest of the league on Monday, and then return to action at Bright House Field Tuesday to start a three-game series with the Daytona Cubs. Shark Bites: Tyler Knigge, the former Threshers closer earlier this year, has a 3.71 ERA and two saves for Double-A Reading... The Threshers are 10-9 this season in games that are tied after eight innings... Only two teams have an ERA higher than the Threshers in the month of August, while only three teams have a higher team batting average this month.

'Tees drop 14-13 slugfest to Threshers 08/19/2012 5:14 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees finished up their six-game road trip with a wild 14-13 defeat at the hands of the Clearwater Threshers on Sunday afternoon at Bright House Field. The afternoon started with the 'Tees (29-27 second half, 58-66 overall) getting on the board in the top of the first on a two-out, two-run single from Cody Hawn. Clearwater (29-26, 65-56) though would take a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the first and a big part of that came from homers by Zach Collier and Carlos Alonso off of Brevard's starting pitcher Brandon Williamson (3-9, 6.15). Brevard County would answer Clearwater's four-run inning, with one of their own in the top of the second. Both Nick Shaw and Mike Walker recorded one-out RBI singles, as Shaw's drove in one run and Walker's drove in two. Shea Vucinich would close out the scoring in the inning with a sacrifice fly to right that plated Jason Rogers. The Threshers scored four runs again in the second inning, this time all with two outs. Edgar Duran's sacrifice fly cut Brevard's lead to 6-5 and then Zach Collier tied the game up by reaching on an error by Vucinich, which allowed Albert Cartwright to score. Jim Murphy then blasted a two-run homer to center to give Clearwater a 8-6 lead. Once again, the 'Tees would answer the Threshers' big inning in the top of the third, thanks to a two-run homer by Juan Sanchez that tied the game at 8-8. After two innings, Williamson's day was over as he allowed eight runs - five of them earned - on six hits, while walking one and not recording a strikeout. The game remained 8-8 until the top of the seventh inning, when Sanchez's two-run double gave Brevard a 10-8 lead and then back-to-back two-out RBI singles from Rogers and Walker gave the Manatees a 12-8 lead. Seth Harvey had relieved Williamson in the third and threw three scoreless innings, while striking out three batters. Thomas Keeling came on for the 'Tees in the sixth and after throwing a scoreless sixth, ran into trouble in the seventh and eighth. After a John Hill sacrifice fly in the seventh cut Brevard's lead to 12-9, the 'Tees were able to pad their lead to 13-9 in the eighth on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Sanchez. Keeling retired the first two batters in the eighth but then allowed a double to Christopher Duffy and then a single by Alonso plated Duffy and made it a 13-10 game. After yielding a single to Lavin, Keeling was lifted for Greg Holle. Holle proceeded to allow back-to-back RBI singles to Harold Martinez and Cameron Rupp as Clearwater's deficit was now cut to just one run. Brevard was unable to plate a run in the top of the ninth as the Threshers now had a chance to win it in the bottom of the ninth. Duran would strike out to lead off the inning, but would reach base on the dropped third strike as Cody Hawn could not make the catch on Joey Paciorek's throw. Drew Hillman then sacrificed Duran to second on a bunt and then Murphy singled to center to plate Duran, as Murphy would get all the way to third thanks to a fielding error by Reggie Keen. With the game now tied, Rogers came in from the outfield to be Brevard's fifth infielder and Duffy was intentionally walked as the 'Tees could now either cut the winning run off at home or turn the double play. Neither scenario would occur as Alonso's single to left ended the game and completed the comeback for the Threshers. The loss capped off a 1-5 road trip for the Manatees. Brevard began the trip just one game back of first place and they will come home three games back with 13 games remaining on the regular season schedule. Brevard County and Clearwater combined for 27 runs, 35 hits and seven errors on the wild afternoon. Brevard's 17 hits were one shy of a season-high and the 'Tees were 8-for-16 with runners in scoring position. Six Manatees recorded at least two hits as Rogers tallied four and Sanchez notched three and five RBI. Walker drove in three runs and Hawn added two RBI of his own. After an off day on Monday, the 'Tees will be back in action at Space Coast Stadium for their final homestand of the season, beginning on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. against the Lakeland Flying Tigers (30-25, 66-54). Box Score Well, it was a good game if you like tons of runs, hits, and errors along with a smattering of failed 1-run strategy. 17 hits for BC headlined by Jason Rogers (4-6) and Juan Sanchez (3-4 2B HR). It was Sanchez's 1st action in 12 days, so it makes sense he knocks in 5 with a bomb and two other hits. John Dishon (2-3 2 BB) was a beast too making the 8 and 9-holes in the BC lineup particularly fearsome. As should be obvious, the pitchers had it rough. Some of that is on the D, especially with the game on the line. There was one beacon of hope in Seth Harvey. Click the link to check out his very impressive career stats. Seth has risen to top of the BC bullpen list. The Cody Hawn and Reggie Keen errors are unacceptable. After big nights at the plate for each, I am sure they will remember the defensive miscues more than anything. FIELDING E: Vucinich (14, fielding), Hawn (5, missed catch), Keen (3, fielding). A much needed off day tomorrow. Game Log Man, that is painful. Clearwater Bottom of the 9th Edgar Duran strikes out swinging. Edgar Duran advances to 1st, on a missed catch error by first baseman Cody Hawn, assist to catcher Joey Paciorek. Drew Hillman out on a sacrifice bunt, third baseman Juan Sanchez to first baseman Cody Hawn. Edgar Duran to 2nd. Jim Murphy singles on a line drive to center fielder Reggie Keen. Edgar Duran scores. Jim Murphy advances to 3rd, on a fielding error by center fielder Reggie Keen. Offensive Substitution: Pinch-runner Anthony Hewitt replaces Jim Murphy. Greg Holle intentionally walks Christopher Duffy. Carlos Alonso singles on a line drive to right fielder John Dishon. Anthony Hewitt scores. Christopher Duffy to 2nd.

AZL Brewers 6 AZL Padres 4 Box Score This one looked like it was going to be a slugfest, but the finish was rather dampened by some decent pitching. Joel Dicent started and gave up all 4 runs the Papas scored. Anthony Banda had a very good outing considering his season to date. He recorded 8 outs giving up just 1 H and 2 BB in the process. The tall, thin lefty from Texas deserves plenty of time to develop in the system. Everyone loves the guys that hit the ground running, but late bloomers are just as important. Austin Blaski pitched a clean 9th for his 1st save. With the thundersticks, statistical anomaly, Taylor Smith-Brennan (3-3 3B), had a fantastic game. Renaldo Jenkins had 2 H but he also get picked off. The whole team cooled off considerably after the 4-run 1st. In the field, there were peaks and valleys, Clint Coulter style. FIELDING E: Coulter (7, missed catch). PB: Coulter 2 (19). Pickoffs: Coulter (Gabella at 1st base). Game Log 55% of the hits in the 1st. Brevard County 6 Clearwater (Phillies) 5 Box Score Hey, awesome comeback win for the water mammals! A night after Jesse Biddle, who was rumored to be a Brewers favorite pre-draft, no-hit them for 7 innings, the 'Tees scratched out an ugly win. Taylor Jungmann was steady as ever, going 6 innings allowing 7 H 2 R 2 ER 2 BB 1 HR while recording a K and an 8:3 GO:FO ratio. Clearwater scored in the 1st and 6th against Taylor. Alan Williams gave up a bomb along with 3 more hits in 2 pretty unsuccessful innings but he got a W. Casey Medlen saved his 19th game in impressive fashion. At the plate, Cody Hawn smacked 2 2B's including a big one in the 8th inning. Cody also walked twice putting him on base four times. Jason Rogers was on four times himself with 2 H, a BB and a reached on an error. The winning run came off the bat of Shea Vucinich as he scorched a 2-out run scoring 9th inning 2B. Nick Shaw committed his 20th error while Franklin Romero Jr. chucked out another baserunner. FRJ's best tool is his arm. Game Log The gift. AZL Giants 11 AZL Brewers 4 Box Score This was a Brewers game and it was not a pretty game, but I repeat myself. Santo Manzanillo made a rehab appearance. Every out he made came via a strikeout. I really wish he would have made more than two outs. Danny Keller, an overslot signing out of HS in California, has been really struggling as a professional. At 6'5" and 190 lbs, he is physically imposing, but his repertoire, in its current form, is simply not. Hitters are batting close to .400 against him this season. The worst part, he has pitched worse this year then last. Gross. 2012 3rd rounder Zach Quintana was the only decent pitcher on the night between all three of the teams I cover. He managed 8 outs while giving up 3 H 0 R 0 BB and recording 4 K and a 2:1 GO:FO ratio. With a nice 3 pitch mix, Quintana has had some decent success in Maryvale. This is a kid born in 1994. Amazing. Alan Sharkey went 3-4 and Dionis Hinojosa went 2-4 with a 2B and SB. Clint Coulter took one BB but he also struck out three times. Jalen Harris also K'ed three times. Malcom Dowell was thrown a bone by being placed in the leadoff spot, but he could only muster a single hit in 5 AB's. Harris, Jose Garcia and Dustin Houle have far too many errors considering the number of chances they have had. FIELDING E: Harris (7, throw), Sharkey (9, fielding), Mejia, D (1, catcher interference), Ortega (14, fielding), Garcia, Jo (3, throw). PB: Houle (13). DP: (Sharkey-Ortega-Sharkey). Oh, what will tomorrow bring? Game Log

'Tees thumped 11-0 by Threshers 08/17/2012 10:03 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees managed just one hit and four base runners total as they were thrashed 11-0 by the Clearwater Threshers on Friday night at Bright House Field for their fourth consecutive loss. Nick Shaw broke up Clearwater's no-hitter with a one-out bloop single to center in the bottom of the ninth. Both Reggie Keen and Jason Rogers drew walks and Parker Berberet reached on an error to represent the only other Brevard County base runners on the night. The Manatees (28-26 second half, 57-65 overall) struck out a season-high 16 times, including 12 times in seven innings against Threshers (28-25, 64-55) starter Jesse Biddle. Brevard County's previous season-high in strikeouts was 15, which occurred just this past Tuesday against Dunedin. Clearwater jumped out to a 3-0 lead on 'Tees starter Matt Miller (1-1, 10.00) in the first inning, thanks to two-out RBI singles from Zach Collier and Carlos Alonso. The Threshers scored another run in the third on a sacrifice fly to make it a 4-0 game. The game unraveled for Miller and the Manatees in the fourth, thanks to a two-out RBI single by the rehabbing Placido Polanco and then the crushing blow being a three-run homer to right by Peter Lavin to make it an 8-0 game. Miller did not get past the fourth as he had his worst start of the season between both Class-A Wisconsin and Brevard. He allowed ten hits to go along with a season-high eight runs. He walked one and struck out six. Eric Arnett relieved Miller and allowed two runs in two innings of work including a solo homer to Zach Collier to lead-off the fifth inning. Tommy Toledo pitched the final two innings for the 'Tees and allowed one run on two hits. Despite their fourth straight loss, the 'Tees are still three games back of first place Tampa, but are in fifth place in the North Division. The Manatees will look to 2011 first round pick Taylor Jungmann (10-6, 3.61) to its losing streak on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. Jungmann is 2-0 with a 1.31 ERA in three August starts. Clearwater will counter with Seth Rosin (0-1, 4.50) who is making his second start with the Threshers. Rosin came over to the Phillies organization as part of the Hunter Pence trade with the San Francisco Giants back on July 31. Box Score Hand it to Jesse Biddle and the Phillies team tonight. They straight destroyed us. That is all. Game Log
