  1. Interesting lineup in Brevard County. Seems like the struggling guys got a day to clear their heads.
  2. I read a Lindor v. Machado comparison somewhere and the jist was that Machado's hit tool and power potential are worlds better then Lindor's. Anyone have any personal feelings regarding Lindor's high end hitting line?
  3. I don't think Cron has the ability to play anywhere in the field, not even first. There are others who agree that he is a DH only.
  4. I wasn't enamored by his mlb-readiness. I like the attention to detail (great pickoff move) and the good, potentially plus, change. I also like low-90's heat from a lefty. He is in a tough conference and, for pick 15, he is an appropriate talent who isn't looking to break the bank. That is why I think he is a very nice fit.
  5. I don't know how anyone can look at Greinke's periphs. and not think that he has been very unlucky. You'd have to be a habitual contrarian or something.
  6. In the latest bit of draft news over at the Sickels Stable, there is mention of Oregon lefty Tyler Anderson: Tyler Anderson, P, Oregon He has a Pettite-esque pickoff move and the change is MLB caliber already with potential to be a plus pitch. His fastball has some movement and sits in the low 90’s and can touch 95, or so I’ve been heard. His slider is a good pitch and projects as a third average or above pitch. Whoever gets him in the middle of the 1st[/sup] round may have the fastest pitcher to reach the majors out of this draft, if they want to move him that fast. If all of this is true, this is who I want at 15. I love the bit about his pickoff move. That shows an attention to detail. Same with the bit about his change up. Reminds me of a lefty Odorizzi or A's lefty Trevor Cahill.
  7. Dude, I just feel for the guy. Freaking numbness? Can't grip the ball? Yea, that will hurt a pitcher a little bit. It seems to Mark is going to need a miracle to get past this.
  8. It would make sense with Halton going down. Take Logan with you, Hunter.
  9. I like them all. I think if things progress to plan, all of them will play in the majors. It is amazing how little love Gindl is getting around here. He is hitting the ball really nice in AAA and he is really young still. Komatsu scoffed at the AA jump. That is a fantastic sign. Kentrail, for me, is Denard Span'ish with power potential. Khris Davis just hits. He is remarkably consistent. I'll stop believing in him once he gives me a reason to. I hope Logan gets hot out of the gate. Big year for him. My fav though is D'Vo. The fact that he jumped to A+, and his numbers improve is a really good sign. Especially when the jump is into a pitchers league. He has dynamic talent. I picked him as my pre-season breakout MiLB Brewer, so I hope he can continue his success. Unlike Brent Brewer, D'Vo has done nothing but improve since the day the Brewers signed him. All he needs is experience. He should go one level at a time, making him ready around the time Hart's deal is up. PS, I know I tend to be on the optimistic side of things with our baby brewers http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. 94 is really, really stretching it with Bucci.
  11. I agree that Bucci is a back end guy. If he creates an extra tick on his FB or develops a Jamie Garcia/Shaun Marcum-like cutter, he could go higher. Love hearing he is a hard worker. That will get him far on its own.
  12. Goldstein has a recent tweet regarding Lawrie here. #BlueJays 3B Brett Lawrie was 3-for-3 with a 3B and HR today. After making 6 Es in his first 12 games at 3B, he's made 1 in last 27. I would still do both trades in a heartbeat. (edit: cleaned up links --1992)
  13. From FOX Sports Speedster Cole Gillespie is tearing up Triple-A Reno (Diamondbacks). Gillespie has been an absolute terror on the basepaths, registering nine triples and eight stolen bases in 32 games. He’s batting .350 (42-for-120) with seven doubles, 23 RBI and 16 walks against 21 strikeouts. Third baseman Brett Lawrie of the Las Vegas 51s (Toronto) is doing everything he can to get the attention of the big club by producing in all five standard categories. He’s hit safely in nine of his past 10 starts. Lawrie is batting .338 (50-for-148) with 12 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 24 RBI and eight stolen bases. The lone knock on Lawrie’s stat line is that he’s drawn only six walks. Alas, there’s a guy named Bautista in front of him. Brantley, Odorizzi, Lawrie, Gillespie, Jeffress, and even LaPorta, Wilhelmsen. That is a boat load of young, former Brewer talent having very productive early seasons. I'm happy for them is all I can say.
  14. Gindl and Gamel are hitting well too. Thorburg's velo is legit. There are bright spots. Short season ball is coming quick along with the draft.
  15. Yes, if he continued to play defense as he currently is, people would keep complaining. If he hits .300 with 20+ bombs, people would be ecstatic, but what does that have to do with poor defense?
  16. 'YB' is the worst thing to happen to this website.
  17. Odorizzi is off to a nice start. 13.8 K/9. http://www.baseball-refer...ayer.cgi?id=odoriz001jac
  18. Austin Ross with a complete game win in game 2 for WI. Keep it up, Austin!
  19. OMG! You are forgetting the vast importance of sacrifice flies! He is so amazing at hitting those weak fly balls.
  20. I'm just wondering why JB12 and SBiE seemingly want to go down as the 'YuBet Dudes' on Brewerfan.net...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Anyways, I don't think YuBet is good. Probably never will. But I sure as heck am going to pull for him every last second he is in a Brewer uni.
  21. we should take a low BA in the same amount of time to crucify his offense. Or you could refer to the thousands of career at bats like 'we' keep suggesting. It's angry when people say "he sucks" or he's "the worst ever" on a daily basis. That's completely over the top and not backed statistically. It is not only backed statistically, it is backed by professional MLB scouts and millions of fans across the country. But what are deficiencies in one area (low OBP, doesn't work counts, etc.) can actually in certain situations (man on 3rd, less than 2 outs) be positives because that player puts the ball in play (as he did twice in last night's game), and gets the runner in from 3rd at a high percentage. I would love to see one relevant statistic that backs this assertion. Please.
  22. Straw, do you understand the concept of statistical noise? Do you have any statistics based training or education?
  23. Was it Chris Hook, instead of Erickson, doing these last year? I liked his quantitative approach to scouting reports. Still, I love these player profile pieces. Edit: No, it was Isom last year, I think. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
