  1. The talent is starting to percolate. The bit in Mehring's blog about Jimmy Nelson: Pretty exciting to hear that. Maybe Nelson jumps up into the grouping with Peralta, Thornburg, Jungmann and Bradley? If his stuff has truly turned the corner, we pretty much need to throw out his first 1.5 years, no? He seems to be a different guy. Is he in better shape? Then there is this about Orlando Arcia: Amazing. I have noticed he is getting some reps at second base. I also am hoping we hear an up-to-date scouting report on Ruben Ozuna soon. Was he a top 30 for BA? There is just no way this is the 26th ranked farm system next year.
  2. Why are people like Jayson Stark glorifying this kid? It seems pretty obvious that we will be reading a "Why Brett Lawrie needs a fresh start" article within 2-3 years. From John Farrell's comments, it just seems they completely took the reigns off him. That is not what this kid needs. He needs to stop being a douche nozzle. Sounds like the Jays are letting the inmates run the asylum over there. The better hope they do not start 15-25 or 20-30, because the Jays have the sound of a team very capable of self-imploding. Regarding his comments about the Brewers, the fact that Lawrie just completely disregarded and disrespected the Brewers' suggestions for Fall League, the same Brewers who are run by Canadian Baseball HoF'er Doug Melvin, is just super immature. And that incident seemed as if it was the last in a line of many. I for one am glad this loose cannon is not on our team. It is just one of those situations where I would rather root for the better person, not the better player.
  3. Sound like Nick Ramirez and Max Walla got hurt today. @Mass_Haas: Another must-read report for #Brewers minor-league fans from @CMehring in Maryvale -- thanks, Chris! http://t.co/CvbeI75X
  4. He deserves his name on the ballot if he continues to be productive, but in no way should he get in. The Molitor comp is insulting to Molitor.
  5. That is fantastic news about Arcia.
  6. I read all of the lists available and I thought they were fantastic. I wish they went 20-30 players deep. I think Thornburg is overlooked by everyone. Saw him pitch yesterday and he was nasty. Lucroy was quoted (by the TV guys yesterday) talking about how Tyler's last bullpen was one of the best he has personally ever seen. Also heard Sedar say he watched Jed Bradley throw on a back field yesterday and he was very impressive.
  7. Today, I thought I heard the TV guys say that the MiLB season actually starts before the MLB season.
  8. I know I have a lot of time at the beginning of the season (April/May). And it is possible that open schedule lasts longer into the summer. I would certainly be willing to contribute while my schedule allows.
  9. Just moved back to Milwaukee in September. I played a lot in Minneapolis. Let me know if there is an open spot.
  10. Thank you so much, Mass. So are you retired? Or retired like Favre retires? (holding out hope that this isn't true) Edit: Shameful spelling failure.
  11. It is Danny Ray along with Adrian Rosario. Edit: http://a3.twimg.com/profile_images/433886516/HaudricourtandPhilliePhanat_normal.jpg@HaudricourtTom#Brewers complete K-Rod trade by sending RHP Adrian Rosario and LHP Daniel Herrera to Mets.2 minutes ago via txt
  12. This should tell you all you need to know. Lineup protection is irrelevant. Its not as important as some make it out to be but it does exist.Exactly, it is irrelevant. It does exist, but it is not really significant enough to be relevant. And to the Bonds comment, he had Jeff Kent, a former MVP, hitting behind him. Bonds walked a lot because he had a very good eye, elite bat speed, and incredible power. Pitchers pitched around him while at the same time he only swung at mistakes.

  14. Speaking of Madden 12, can anyone succinctly describe any new changes? Specifically, I am hoping the draft improves by making it more difficult to find stars. Also, will they ever match finance/salary cap settings to actual CBA rules? Anything new for contract negotiations?
  15. These are not projections, they are equivalents. You will get a different answer if you use 2010 stats.
  16. You must have forgot his HBP's?
  17. This is the one I use. No idea how reliable it is. Edit: Green's overall MLE slash line: .292/.358/.483
  18. Endless questions of "Do I look fat?" I would assume. Lucky it lasted with that to overcome. "Yes, honey, you are as big as a boat house."

  20. If you could have one guy.Taylor Green, Mat Gamel, Logan Schafer or Caleb Gindl? twitter.com/AlfredAugust by Tedaldtada29 on Aug 25, 2011 8:02 AM PDT hmmmWell I saw all four of them over the weekend. It would depend on what my team needed I suppose. I don’t see any of them as so tremendously superior as to outshine the others. If I needed a guy who could play center you have to go with Schafer. If I didn’t care as much about that but was looking for more of a bat for platoon work, Gindl. What I saw of Green over the weekend wasn’t really that impressive. He just looked like a guy to me, nice swing but didn’t stand out. If it wasn’t for his stats and reputation, I don’t know that I would have thought a lot about him. by John Sickels on Aug 25, 2011 8:05 AM PDT
  21. I met my partner way back, but I started dating her when she was 6.5 months pregnant. I felt weird just typing that, but it is true.
  22. Whoa, Peralta is really coming on.
  23. With rave reviews like that, I fear I ranked Yaddy to low on my Top-10. Still, dude needs to work the count and drive the good pitches. Dishon is definitely making progress. A couple plus tools (speed, bunting, possibly D) will take him a long way.
  24. Well done, fellas. My biggest beef is how in the heck is Drew Gagnon 13 spots ahead of Jimmy J Nelson?
