  1. I will always remember where I was the day X said something nice about Melvin...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I agree that still having Rogers around is a huge coup. I still insist that many will be pleasantly surprised by the talent we still have in the minors.
  2. My take is that I would much rather take my chances with the elite pitching. Doug Melvin really is having a monster offseason. Hopefully Schafer can compete for the CF job in ST.
  3. I'll give you mine even if you didn't ask for it. Until he shows he can start I think he'll be valued as a reliever by other teams. He is still young enough to go back to starting without it being a big deal but while he's projected to be in Milwaukee next year as a reliever he'll be lucky to come up midseason 2012 as a starter. Maybe that is how other teams value him. How do you value him? Do you see him as a starter?
  4. Jeffress cannot be suspended for marijuana as now he is on the 40 man roster.
  5. I don't think he has the body type to play until 50.
  6. Maybe the 'everyone' the thread originator was referring to is the scouts and non-Brewer fans who love to comment on how Mark is a reliever only. I highly doubt there is anyone in the Milwaukee org. that sees Rogers as anything but a top end SP.
  7. Ha, my bad. I meant uninformed.
  8. Most assessments I see on the Brewer system are incredibly uniformed. It's usually just regurgitated, and unfortunately, not from the good people here at bf.net. This Fangraphs top 10 was better then most, no doubt. Still, how can Kentrail Davis not rate ahead of Hunter Morris? I guess it's just all opinion and projection. I do know that everyone over at the Sickels site think we have a bottom 3-5 system, but imo, they are pretty uniformed about the Brewers prospects. Sickels himself is higher then most on Milwaukee's system, but the regular posters over there remain unimpressed. I just think that in 5 years, we will be pretty happy with the young guys our system produced.
  9. Normally, I am a keep the prospects guy, but if you can get Greinke you have to do it. My only caveat would be that the Royals could only choose one of Odorizzi/Rogers/Peralta/Jeffress. Take Alcides, Lorenzo, and/or Mat. We can replace the offense, it is much harder to get a Greinke.
  10. Call me a homer, but I think our system is vastly underrated. No way people will look back in 5 years and say, 'That was a bottom five system'. It's good to see a bunch of pitchers, though. I still think Rogers should be penciled in for 20-25 starts in the bigs next year.
  11. Only has given up 10 homers in 300+ MiLB IP. http://www.baseball-refer...ayer.cgi?id=egan--001pat
  12. Only has given up 10 homers in 300+ MiLB IP. http://www.baseball-refer...ayer.cgi?id=egan--001pat
  13. Everyone rejoice! The Eric Farris era will start in 2012!! Just kidding, but seriously, everyone rejoice! Scooter Gennett is...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. Welcome back Logan! I'm loving the lineup card today.
  15. Calen Gindl hit his second bomb. Fiers was up to 90-91 a few times that I saw. Merklinger topped at about 88.
  16. This was pretty awesome.
  17. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2010/10/9/1740612/rookie-review-lorenzo-cain Short Sickel's article on Lorenzo Cain. He seems pretty optimistic. Sickels: "I don't expect Cain to hit .300+ every year, but I can see him as a consistent .270-.290 hitter with some seasons that get beyond that. If he boosts is isolated patience a bit, maintains his polish on the bases, his offensive and defensive skills will make him quite valuable."
  18. BA has been terrible lately, to me at least. They seem conceded and, as we have seen, make quite a few due diligence errors. I think Sickel's might be the best of the 'prospectors', (except for ColbyJack of course).
  19. Lawrie checks in at #5 on the SL list. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/rankings/league-top-20-prospects/2010/2610759.html Lots of Cubs on there too. There have been a lot of Cubs on all of the corresponding lists.
  20. Couple of posts from a Sickels AQA: 1. Brewers Prospect: Can you talk a little bit about Wily Peralta? What have you heard? peralta He’s got very good stuff but his command slipped in Double-A….the ERA was still good but the peripherals went bad, poor K/IP ratio for a guy who throws pretty hard. He still got grounders though. although used as a starter, I think he might be better off in the bullpen in the long run. 2. Brett Lawrie Have seen some talk about bad body language from various sources on Brett Lawrie. Is he the next Milton Bradley? Of course not, but do you see his questionable makeup as a concern for development? lawrie the term from scouts i’ve heard about Lawrie is “red-ass”….aggressive, highly competitive, kind of a jerk but very intense and wanting to succeed. I’d be interested in what “bad body language” means…that could mean a lot of different stuff. Is he getting lazy or something? I’d have to check my sources about that.
  21. That WI rotation is exciting to say the least.
  22. An incredibly deep list. Nice job guys.
  23. I have no idea where, but I think I might have called this a couple months ago. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Congrats to the guys! Great seasons for sure.
