  1. T Plush's Twitter "If everybody has an Apple take a solid bite out of it and give a GO CREW! If u don't care 4 Apples I don't have anything!!!! Lol Layta Sk8ta"
  2. Since the previous discussion about the card, they've added Benavides-Wineland, Dolloway-Hamman, and Bruce Leroy-Leonard Garcia. Also, Danny Castillo-Volkmann has been downgraded to unofficial, while Makdessi-Paul Taylor has upgraded to that status. The theme of the card so far is lowish on caliber, quite high in excitement. You're going to see a lot of stand-up wars with these matches (not that I don't enjoy a nuanced BJJ contest). Now that Pettis "lost" Dana better include him in the card if he wants to get off a losing streak quickly and fight in front of a supportive crowd. Pettis hardly complained about losing the title shot and was willing to take as many fights as required to get what he was originally promised. Put him on there against Evan Dunham. Also, Ben Rothwell against Schaub for more local flavor. One of those could be the main event. Something has to trump Lytle-Hardy, which will be anti-climactic from a relevance standpoint.
  3. On 6/6 the Sounds posted innings of 6, 6, 6. If those players were going to sell their souls to the devil, why would they do it for a win over the Zephyrs. They must not have read the fine print.
  4. Carlos was, is, and will always be a good pitcher. In 2 different seasons he was arguably the Crew's most valuable reliever. His ERA's were often deceptive because he'd get bombed in a small minority of appearances but keep runs off the board otherwise. Then he had a little rough patch and the F.O. sold low like they often had. Now, the Jays are reaping the benefits.
  5. They're the unwritten rules of baseball because the people who devise them are illiterate. Maybe if Quade could reach the reactor he'd get oxygen to his brain and think clearer.
  6. Yep, that was a win otherwise. I feel dirty after most games we play against them at Miller Park. Yes, he they did earn it in part, but two inches further and that's four more runs for the Crew. It's mostly luck that's felling them in these series'.
  7. To quote another great Wisconsinite, Phil Hellmuth, "if it weren't for luck we'd win every one" against the Cubs at Miller Park. Last year it was one umping error after another in their favor, and now this.
  8. And your clever use of irony to me. It will endear him to many who would frequent a message board I imagine, but it does actually endure him to me because I HATE Star Wars. Now if he had said Dark City, that would have been a different story. He had an affinity for Memento so that somewhat makes up for the other bad movie choice in my eyes. In all seriousness he came off as a very likable guy.
  9. The Cubs have won about 3 games against the Brewers this season primarily due to umpiring in their favor. Cubs fans don't have to apologize for it, it's not their fault, but it's annoying to hear justifications and rationalizations about close calls in the middle of the game compensating for obvious incorrect calls at the end when a team has no chance to respond afterward.
  10. I hope I'm wrong, but I fear that the Indians are feeling good because we did about the minimum amount of damage as they reasonably could have hoped, and now will take advantage.
  11. This is a lot more than one game Macha may have lost us. We followed the debacle in Atlanta, with a sweep at the hands of the Rockies, at home. Talk about a momentum killer.
  12. Every manager in the game brings in the closer in that situation. Macha did nothing different than any other manager. Sure, in hindsight, he could have played it different. Plain and simple, Hoffman didn't get the job done tonight. It was bound to happen. It's not hindsight and some managers make the exception. Just because the masses are ruled by playing for a statistic, I don't see why you would justify that line of thinking. Managers and coaches follow a lot of stupid norms in all sports. Icing the kicker being an example in football.
  13. Ken Macha had to mess around by using the known to be wild Seth McClung. Just win the game you're in and worry about not having him available when it occurs. This game is on Macha if we lose, and I hope he accepts full responsibility if we do. Yost-esque managing of the bullpen between the final game of the Atlanta series and this one.
  14. Once Villa started talking to himself on the mound I knew we weren't getting out of the inning with a lead at the very least. He's normally a very poised reliever, but he let his emotions get the best of him this time. The location and idea on that 0-2 pitch was awful. The change-up seemed like an obvious pitch. Leaving this roadie 9 games over instead of 11 is going to leave a bad taste in my mouth. We haven't been able to get any traction since Rickie got injured.
  15. This offense is pathetic right now. If Corey is going to slump, at least he could do the little things and move runners over. He prevented us from getting a run that inning. Every one is valuable at this point the way everyone is scuffling.
  16. It doesn't exactly instill confidence in one's offense having Counsell and McGehee at the top of the lineup. Get well soon JJ. Don't get too fat on pina coladas Ray.
  17. Bill should get a clue. He's criticizing McGehee for not tagging from 2nd w/ 1 out, down 5 runs. One run doesn't make much of a difference anyways in that situation. And going 2/3 of the way to third when a ball is hit over an outfielder's head is the standard play anyways, to ensure scoring if the ball drops. If he makes it from 2nd to 3rd w/ 2 outs, he increases his chances of scoring, what, 5 percent?
  18. I think it's a little questionable to leave Villanueva in to face Pujols after what transpired last season. We don't need anybody to invigorate them. I'd rather see lifeless corpses and relaxing transition to the flight to Houston. We should win anyways due to the cushion, but why risk it against one of our top division rivals?
  19. It's amazing we're up 4 with all the fundamental mistakes from our players and coaching staff. I hope Steve Phillips touches on all of them tonight, as long as it's to supplement some positive coverage finally.
  20. Not many of our players would be invited alongside Fred McGriff, to be on Tom Emanski's fundamentals of baseball video. At least not during the fielding portion.
  21. I think you can probably make the case that Green is a better defender than Gamel. I've never heard anyone (i.e. professional scout/writer/GM) question Mat's ability to hit. Gamel has the potential to be a .900 OPS + hitter. Green has the potential to be a .800 + hitter. I don't think that. It was just questionable sentence wording on my part.
  22. Some alternative advice....wait on buying that home until a couple months from now. Just stay in the Pfister hotel for the next couple of weeks. Because regardless of how well your hubby plays, he's going to be demoted so we can avoid paying him millions for a couple more years. Don't be offended and miffed by it, because it happens to everyone and we are just dealing with the system provided to us.
  23. Fischer should have sent Fielder there with 2 outs and the pitcher coming up. He was around the bag when the centerfielder picked the ball up. That's even debatable to send him with one out and a position player up next. Any slightly errant throw and even a sloth like Prince should score.
  24. What kind of strike zone was that? 2 pitches in that at bat clearly were over the plate for called strike 3's.
  25. Will Inman's line on Sunday: 7 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 7 K, 1 BB On the season his ERA is down to a pretty impressive at 3.05, especially for the hitter friendly (to my knowledge) Texas League. Can someone inform me as to why he's at AA for the 3rd straight season, though. His ERA last season was nothing to sneeze at. Regardless the reason, it would be kind of nice to have a legit prospect like him at the upper levels of our minor league system who is actually performing. That Linebrink trade right now is haunting as of right now, and a lot of people who would criticize it would not be doing so in hindsight.
