  1. Comp picks are always at the end of each round. Cannot be early 5th.
  2. That's a different tune than Wingo was singing this morning/yesterday evening when he replied to a tweet from Andrew Brandt and said that neither the Packers nor the Jets knew anything.
  3. Two lucky plays. I just keep thinking back to the Kansas game, and what would/could be had an out of bounds call been made at the very end of regulation on the Kansas player whose foot was touching out of bounds when he threw the ball back in play and they made the shot to tie it. That and the circus shot at the end of overtime on the offensive rebound. Then the Michigan game where their center heaves one up from 27 feet at the end of regulation to tie it. Add those two wins and there is no discussion about them being in.
  4. There's one other slight but important difference between UW's final four teams in 2014 and 2015 and now. Starting in the 2015-2016 season, the NCAA reduced the shot clock from 35 to 30 seconds. Those teams had five more seconds to work their offense to get a good shot. Doesn't seem like much, but now at five seconds you have to take what you can get but in 2014-2015 you still had 10 seconds and didn't have to rush.
  5. Yeah, that sample size needs to be at least 400 per team
  6. Especially women, more specifically older women, who know what it's like to be (afraid to be) replaced by someone younger.
  7. Why would the Jets give up a good WR if they're bringing in Rodgers? If they're going for it, they're giving up picks. And probably more in 2024+ picks than 2023.
  8. Essegian is a true freshman - he's the last person who deserves any criticism. I've seen worse than the first half. They had a few turnovers (I believe six in the first half, but only 10 for the game) but they had several plays where they got the ball inside, got fouled, got the shot up and on the rim but rolled off. An inch or two here and there and they could have had at least 4-5 and-ones. Instead they got free throws and only made one of two. They got good looks but rimmed out. I don't think Hepburn was 100%; he just looked off. Essegian's a true freshman; he's the last person who should get criticized. But Hepburn and Essegian combining to go 2-13 is what caused their downfall.
  9. I'm sorry, but this is so little-brother. Nobody has been claiming that they're going to get in for sure. Marquette hasn't won a game in the tournament in a decade. If a "clock cleaning" is a game that was within four points in the last minute of the game, then what was Marquette's 95-63 loss to UNC in the tournament last year (the same school that UW beat 85-62 the year before in the first round of the tournament)?
  10. Safety and LB are two positions where if a player has excellent instincts and can quickly read and diagnose plays he will make up that speed by being in position and already being 2-3 steps toward where he needs to be before other guys figure that out.
  11. Same AD today as was on June 22, 2021 when the recording was leaked.
  12. Then why didn't he fire him in 2021 when the recording of the team meeting leaked? They finished 18-13 that year and unranked.
  13. Why wouldn't Rodgers just tell the Packers who he wants to be traded to in the first place? I highly doubt that the Packers trade Rodgers anywhere without getting his blessing, or try to force him to stay if he doesn't want to. And I highly doubt that a team will trade for him without getting assurances from Rodgers that he wants to play for them.
  14. (deleted)
  15. My understanding is that about 10 years ago the P5 conferences guaranteed 4-year scholarships so there is no more "Creaning". There could be exceptions, such as if a walk-on was explicitly given a one-year scholarship because another scholarship player transferred, which could be the case with Gilmore. But I don't think Ilver or Hodges can be pushed out the door.
  16. You're seriously comparing "hurt" to an incident where someone got killed? 1) Name them (the last NFL player I can recall who drove at a high rate of speed killed someone and has been in jail ever since) B) How many of them aren't either in jail, kicked out of the league, suspended for a significant period of time, or were released? 3) How do you know that Carter didn't instigate it? How do you know that Carter isn't the one who challenged the other vehicle to a race? What if he did? It takes two to tango, and if Carter doesn't race them do they race themselves? Highly unlikely. Also, while Carter was "at the scene", he allegedly left the scene before police/emergency personnel arrived and came back two hours later. He also changed his story; he first told police that he heard the crash from a nearby apartment complex, but then later told an officer he had been driving both behind and beside the SUV. Not sure how leaving the scene isn't a crime.
  17. Loads of guys in the NFL are involved in racing accidents that get people killed?
  18. Arrest warrant issued for Jalen Carter in connection with the vehicle death of his teammate Devin Willock after the national championship game. Allegedly he and the girl driving the other vehicle were racing, driving recklessly, swerving in and out of traffic, driving in the oncoming lane. The girl who was driving the other vehicle apparently had a BAC of .197. Carter is being charged with misdemeanors at this point, but have to think that this is going to make him drop quite a bit as the behavior risk just shot up.
  19. I disagree on the TE depth. There are maybe 5 guys that could go in the top two rounds, which is more than most years, but after that there is a huge dropoff. Barring some surprising performances at the combine/pro day, maybe 10 TEs that could get drafted before the 7th round. That's why I think that they'll get overdrafted - there will be a scramble to get those top 4-6 guys (Mayer, Washington, Musgrave, Kincaid, maybe LaPorta & Durham). Guys like Kraft, Schoonmaker, Whyle, Mallory, Latu will have to show something at the combine/pro days, but are likely backups at best in the pros.
  20. Don't care about the seed so long as they aren't in the same region as Purdue. Don't really have an answer for Edey, although most teams don't. Everyone else they have a legitimate chance to beat, but Purdue will be by far the toughest matchup. Gonzaga will be a tough matchup too. I could see Purdue being the #1 and Marquette being the #2 in the Midwest which would suck. Alabama as the #1 and Marquette as the #2 in the East would be better. The committee likes to put Marquette in the East.
  21. The TEs will get overdrafted. There are 5-6 good ones in this draft, then a huge dropoff. Meyer - depends on what he runs. If he clocks in at 4.65 or better he will be gone by #15. His PFF grade last year was 92.5. Kincaid - depends on what he measures (and runs). He's listed at 6'4", 240, but I don't see that size on film. If he comes in under that he will need to run sub-4.6 to get drafted in the top two rounds. I saw a couple of their games and I believe in the Pac-10 championship game he had a horrible drop in the end zone that would have been a TD. Everyone has drops, but he was wide open facing the QB with a chest-high pass. Easiest pass you're going to get. I'm not a fan. Washington - one of those guys whose talent may have been hidden by the system and what he was asked to do. If he tests well, at that size he won't make it out of the first round. Career average of 17.2 ypc. Musgrave - late 1st to mid-2nd, depending on how teams value his blocking (which at the Senior Bowl wasn't good). Limited film due to missing most of 2022 with injury. If the Packers strike out on the top guys, at the next tier is Payne Durham of Purdue who might be able to be had in the 4th. Durham looked good at the Senior Bowl and is one of my sleepers. Other than Durham you have LaPorta in there, maybe one or two small-school guys in the mid rounds, and then a huge dropoff to 7th round/UDFA talent.
  22. I know people who have sold their home and the new owners rented it back to them for a month or two before the new owners were able to move in. If there is that much demand, there will be demand for yours, and just say that you can't move out for 2-3 months and see if someone will bite. Make a bigger offer. Money talks. Another friend (who has a young child) sold their house and then rented via Air BnB for a few months before they were able to buy a place (in another city). There were several factors including a job change, but see if you can rent a place for a couple of months so you won't have a contingency. That rent will be above market rate to have flexibility in lease term, but every other option will cost you money too.
  23. As nate mentioned, younger Millennials and Gen Z don't go to Hawaii. Go to Tulum, or southern coastal Italy, or (name your national park hiking trails in North America), or Nashville/Austin, or (name your ski resort in North America) and tell me what you see. I manage a team of younger Millennials and Gen Z (5-7 people) and two have been to Tulum, two others have been to Italy (along with a couple of other international destinations), and another to Colorado all in the last year and none of them make anywhere close to $100K/year. I just got back from Park City. Single day walk-up lift tickets were $260 for holiday weeks, $219 for non-holidays. The mountains were not empty, and they weren't Gen X'ers or Boomers.
  24. That, and the younger Millennial/older Gen Z population has an absurd level of "Keeping up with the Joneses" not seen since the 1950's. With everybody bragging about "living their best life" on social media, there is a tremendous amount of pressure to keep up on travel/tourism/Instagram-worthy destinations, clothing (such as Canada Goose jackets), apartments (have to live in that new apartment building with the rooftop pool, yoga studio, coffee bar, dog wash...), etc. They've said that in Q4 consumer credit card debt rose sharply, and now with interest rate hikes they're paying for it. Milton Friedman said it takes 12-18 months to see effects of rises in interest rates, and we are only one year out from the first rate hike. It also takes a while for people to get out of their apartment leases and into cheaper housing (if they can find it). It's coming over the next 6 months, but as I mentioned above... what substitutes are there?
