  1. And the best thing you can do is win on the road or neutral sites, especially against non-conference opponents. The road win against Marquette and the neutral site wins over USC and Dayton are looking pretty good and help elevate the SOS of the Big Ten. Not sure if I'm missing something, but I only see four home losses and all are to teams that are projected to be in the tournament (Wake is bubble - in some, first out others, but 8-6 in the ACC usually gets you in).
  2. Not correct. Nets receive two 2nd round picks from the Bucks (2028 & 2029) plus draft rights to guard Juan Pablo Vaulet from the Pacers. Pacers get three 2nds from the Bucks plus Nwora, Hill, and Ibaka.
  3. And only one for the Broncos in the last 24 years. Drew Brees only won one. Dan Mariono, Phillip Rivers, Matt Ryan, Warren Moon, Dan Fouts, and Fran Tarkenton never won one.
  4. How is that different than any other pro sports league? In the NBA, if superstars want out, they get traded. See: Brooklyn Nets. If Kyrie wants out, Kyrie gets traded. If LeBron wants to play with his friends, LeBron gets to play with his friends. If their contract is up in a year or two anyway, might as well get something for him rather than him half-arse it there because he doesn't want to be there.
  5. Northwestern is 16th in the nation if number of FGs given up per game, 12th in the nation in 2-point FG% (UW's bread & butter). The only question is if they make their shots/free throws as they have one of the best defenses in the nation. Last year Wahl shot 57% from 2-point FGs; this year he is 43%. Last year he shot 70% from FTs; this year, 60%. Something is wrong with him. Similar with Crowl - last year he was 80% from FTs; this year, 60%. Last year Hepburn shot 42% from 2-point FGs; this year, 34%.
  6. Raptor's career as a reliever: 26-7, 2.90 ERA, 205 IP, 56 BB, 183 K, 1.185 WHIP, 8.0 K/9, 3.27 K/BB, .686 OPS-A Dude got the job done.
  7. I'm struggling to think of any time that I've gotten food delivery that wasn't pizza and/or for a large gathering. I always go carryout as you get the food faster and less things that can go wrong along the way.
  8. Yep, the layoffs, particularly in the tech sector, come with severance that I'm sure many are going to use to take some time off, travel, and do some bucket list things before job searching. The unemployment claims are forthcoming. Other context to the jobs report: The labor force participation rate edged higher to 62.4%. Greater supply of workers. Every 0.1% increase in labor participation rate is an additional >$300K workers. A broader measure of unemployment that includes discouraged workers and those holding part-time jobs for economic reasons also edged higher to 6.6%. A bulk of the created jobs (128K) were in the leisure & hospitality sector, which involve a lot of part-time and lower-wage jobs.
  9. Not just Bally/Sinclair, but anyone who watches business news/CNBC/etc. knows that ad spending by businesses is down as businesses look to brace for a possible recession. While that may not significantly affect TV revenue in 2023, there is lots of other advertising that goes on within the realm of baseball (stadium billboards, other sponsorships, etc.) that is specific to a team and will have an effect on the team's total revenue.
  10. Except for Johnny Davis, and Micah Potter, and Aleem Ford. But other than those guys, yeah, they're not developing and churning out NBA talent.
  11. Yep, there was the whole Adidas (and non-Adidas) corruption scandal that came to light in 2017. The Elite Youth Basketball League, the grassroots basketball division of Nike, was served with a subpoena by federal investigators. Diamond Stone allegedly received over $14,000 from ASM to attend Maryland. Now, with NIL, it's even worse - they have NIL deals with Nike (and Adidas, and Under Armour) that can legally stipulate that they must attend a school that they sponsor in order to get the NIL money (they get around it by not specifying a school in the deal and just say "any school" that Nike is affiliated with). Nike is the dominant player in NCAA BB. Nike is in a lot better financial shape than Under Armour and has a lot more $ to give out on NIL deals.
  12. Because it's the Raiders - the Anaheim Angels of the NFL.
  13. What I meant was guys staying, redshirting their freshman year, coming off of the bench for a couple of years, and becoming something their 3rd/4th year in the program. A la Frank Kaminsky, Jordan Taylor, Ben Brust, Tyler Wahl, Bronson Koenig, Jared Berggren, to a lesser extent Nate Reuvers, D'Mitrik Trice, Johnny Davis didn't redshirt, but he didn't start any games as a freshman and was a high 3-star recruit. Happ was good as a freshman, but he redshited and learned under Kaminsky for a year while never playing. If they go to a different school, they don't get the same development. Different coaches, different system. How many of those guys would have stayed had the portal existed? We'll never know.
  14. Don't underestimate the power of AAU coaches and camps in steering players towards their sponsors. Remember Diamond Stone?
  15. Executive summary - their biggest issues are: They have been a developmental program, and now with the portal if kids don't play as much as they think they should right away they look elsewhere. Kids in the portal look to start, not be backups (unless it's a legit Final Four contender). They are an Under Armour school, not a Nike school. Wahl was injured and apparently Hepburn has been fighting an ankle injury for a while too, which might explain some of his play.
  16. Once they cut Carr they will have ~$50M in cap space. They can add a a few more pieces with that. Part of it will be needed to re-sign Josh Jacobs, who is a FA, but if I'm understanding Rodgers' contract correctly, he'll only count about $15.8M towards the cap in 2023. That's why I said they could also trade for Bakh and bring in more of Rodgers' buddies.
  17. I'm sure you can. When your doctor orders it, it will be shipped to your home. After you receive the kit you can take it, poop, and ship from anywhere. Maybe check the shipping requirements, but I don't see why it has to be shipped from your home.
  18. It is easy to search and find teams - hit CTRL-F (or Command-F on a Mac). A prompt will show up that will search the page for text. Took me less than 10 seconds to find the teams.
  19. Cologuard. Not sure if you're high risk, but for people who are average risk the American Cancer Society says that either a colonoscopy or a stool-based test (i.e. Cologuard) is fine. And Cologuard is covered 100% on my health plan, whereas a colonoscopy isn't - and I have a high deductible health plan. Unfortunately my doctor knows little about Cologuard and fought me on my insistence on Cologuard even though I'm low risk.
  20. People forget that Josh Jackson looked good his first year. Then, perhaps due to a change in defensive scheme, he was a poor fit for what they were doing. I think he thrived in zone where he could sit back and read the QB and see where the play was going in front of him but struggled with man-to-man and having his back to the QB. (Or vice-versa.) Sometimes players just aren't a good fit for the scheme that they run, especially if they change coordinators (Jackson). Sometimes you can't uncover that a player has a substance abuse issue (Sternberger) or that a player is going to get lazy once he gets some money in his pocket (Rodgers) or predict that he'll get hurt right away and lose development time (Deguara). Josh Jackson and Oren Burks are still in the league. Four players drafted in the 2nd round and four players drafted in the third round in 2018 were out of the league as of the start of the 2022 season, Four players drafted in the first round in 2020 are out of the league.
  21. There is a third option - trading. A team that is a legitimate contender for the Super Bowl but has an iffy LT/OL would gladly trade for Bakh because they only have to pay him the cash portion of his contract for two years. The signing/restructure bonus $ stay with the Packers. Getting a Pro-Bowl caliber LT for $17M in cash in 2023, $20M in cash in 2024, non-guaranteed without having to sign to a long-term deal is a bargain. Even if Bakh's knee acts up again (which it didn't after week 9), a team can cut him without any dead cap because the portion of the contract they are taking on is not guaranteed. Similar with Aaron Jones - he was 9th in the league in total yards from scrimmage last year, and he is tied for 8th all-time in YPC (and three of the players ahead of him are QBs - the only RBs in the modern era with a higher YPC are Jamaal Charles, Nick Chubb, and Jim Brown). A non-guaranteed $16m this year, $12M next is not a big risk for a premium 3-down RB. Lots of cash, but none guaranteed and no long-term deal required. If Rodgers is traded, I expect Bakh and Jones to be traded as well. If they keep Rodgers, they'll restructure/extend.
  22. Wisconsin's Final Four teams were 332nd in pace of play (2013-2014) and 346th (2014-2015) in pace of play. In 2014 they lost to Kentucky who was 193rd in pace of play, and in 2015 they lost to Duke who was 141st in pace of play. You could have checked the link I provided... Teams win championships because they are efficient - they score at a high % of their possessions.
  23. Saw Arby's Sauce and Arby's Horsey Sauce at the grocery store yesterday. Picked up the Arby's Sauce. Only 4g of added sugar per serving. Didn't get the Horsey Sauce - bottle was too big for how seldom I'd use it. But if you haven't dipped Arby's curly fries in a mixture of Arby's Sauce and Horsey Sauce... you haven't had fries. I just don't have fries that much, or roast beef sandwiches.
  24. The year that Virginia won the national championship they were literally last in the nation - 353rd - in pace of play. The team they beat in the final was 268th.
  25. One of UW's challenges with basketball recruiting is that they are an Under Armour school, not a Nike school. The kids that go to the Nike camps/AAU teams get steered towards Nike schools. Under Armour is more of a football brand than basketball, and Nike is the top brand for basketball - the Nike camps/AAU teams usually get the best basketball players. That has contributed to some of the in-state kids going elsewhere (Podziemski initially going to Illinois, a Nike school, as he went to the Nike-sponsored Phenom camps; that, and he thought he was a 1-2 year player and UW had Davison and Bowman, so he had no interest in UW). Purdue, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State are all Nike schools and, not so coincidentally, the top basketball schools in the conference.
