  1. There shall be no disrespecting the Brouhard
  2. Have to wonder what the plan is for Mis's next scheduled start. With no days off that might be the biggest cloud hovering over the bullpen. Like you said, can't have another short start. Could be a planned piggyback with Rodriguez. Since Patrick was the extra man for the DH he can be called up at any time. Would not be surprised if the plan was to keep Mis in the rotation through the Cubs series, then move him to the pen to mitigate his innings. Was encouraging to see Gasser go 4 IP the other day, but it was only 52 pitches so he isn't ready yet. Barring someone going on the IL, Myers has to wait until September. Adding Mis to the pen also gives them another multi-inning reliever, which they could certainly use.
  3. WWE doing their best to alienate me. First, they move RAW to Netflix. (Nope, not worth the additional cost.) Now, they are moving all PLE's away from Peacock (which I paid $20/year for on a Black Friday promo) to ESPN's new streaming service... at $29.95/mo. Current cable subscribers can gain full access to the new streaming service after being authorized by their cable provider, company executives said on Tuesday. However, the company added, full authorization remains unavailable through select cable providers as ESPN resolves outstanding negotiations, meaning some cable subscribers will be unable to access content broadcast exclusively on the streaming service. Such content will be initially unavailable to customers of Comcast Xfinity, YouTube TV, Dish Network, Sling TV and Cox, the company said. https://abcnews.go.com/Business/espns-new-streaming-service/story?id=124772511 Of course, I have YouTube TV. And "cable" here in Denver is xfinity. And if it's like YouTubeTV "negotiating" with MLB Network, two years later I still won't have access. And what % of "cable" subscribers don't have one of those companies listed? Like, 10%?
  4. YOU obviously have never been to Edley's BBQ...
  5. If they give up a 7-game lead with 38 games left to play, they deserve to lose the tiebreaker.
  6. All they need is one of the last two. To only give up one game in five H2H games is plenty acceptable.
  7. Are you referring to the best 15 umpires at calling balls/strikes call the balls/strikes for every game? If so, getting in and out of a crouch behind the plate would be very physically taxing to have to do every day. They rotate bases to cover to give them a break from being the home plate ump.
  8. Well, he was on bereavement leave, so it's understandable if he's been a bit distracted lately
  9. The Cubs sphincters must be so tight right now
  10. Yeah, I'll take them getting Boyd out of the way against Patrick and punt that one. Their (arguably) best pitcher against our worst. Give them one, try to get to the bullpen as much as you can, and then get at least one of the last three games. If they get one of the two today and then one of the last two I'll be ecstatic.
  11. They would have to send someone else down to call up Rodriguez. Patrick is the extra pitcher (technically roster spot #27) for the DH so they can't replace him tomorrow. They could send someone else down (such as Anderson) and call up an arm to replace that person. Payamps hasn't pitched since 8/16 so my guess is that he's in Chicago ready to be called up (with an Easton McGee DFA to make room on the 40 and Anderson sent down) for tonight or Wednesday if a fresh arm is needed.
  12. This. They get an extra pitcher and they need a starter. Henderson is on the IL, Gasser isn't there yet in his rehab process, and the only other starters on the 40-man are are Patrick and Carlos Rodriguez. Patrick is unquestionably the best option.
  13. #11 is if seats were sold to different people (or different partial season ticket packages) for the two games, who gets the seats for the doubleheader? My guess is that with how well the Cubs did the first half of the season that there weren't a lot of unsold tickets for the series.
  14. So I'm not allowed to have an opinion that differs from yours, even if I have stats to support it, because it's an "agenda post". Got it.
  15. Myers this season: Pitch count 1-25: .632 OPS-A Pitch count 26-50: .900 OPS-A Myers was at 24 pitches.
  16. It's the Great American Bandbox. I think they said the wind was flying out a little. Anderson's HR rate this year is 0.9 and Myers is 1.3. Personally, I would have stayed with Myers but I'm not upset about the decision.
  17. If you knew me, you'd know that I don't ignore anything. If a team has a lead, I'd rather that the pitcher challenge them to hit their way on then give them free baserunners that didn't earn their way on. Walking more batters isn't a consequence of being unhittable - you're ignoring the fact that there's no correlation between those two things. Walking more is a function of command and control. Good hitters don't swing at balls outside of the zone. Being "unhittable" is a function of "stuff". I never said he didn't have good "stuff".
  18. A veteran reliever with a good track record prior to this year is just a DFA away...
  19. It wasn't really a platoon, it was more based on the types of pitches that the pitchers threw. I recall them saying that one guy was starting because he hit 4-seam fastballs really well and that's what the starting pitcher threw.
  20. Sure hope Hall didn't do that throwing his glove on the ground in the dugout yesterday.
  21. It raises your stress level while it's happening. There are many, many posts within IGT's on this site that have documented that. Particularly walking guys when you have the lead.
  22. In 193 PAs with the White Sox he had an OPS of 0.531. In 120 PAs with the Brewers he has raised his overall OPS to 0.723. That's incredible.
