  1. Yeah, but if they win the World Series all of the additional revenue from tickets/concessions/merchandise will pay off the loan! (Straight from the Broke Gambler's playbook.)
  2. No 2024 though - wonder if there was a procedure (TJ, brace) that may have affected his 2025 numbers at Southern Miss.
  3. I saw that on the replay - ball hadn't even landed yet and Counsell had already picked up the phone.
  4. How do you think White Sox fans feel? They must be like, "What the (bleeping) (bleep)!?!?!?"
  5. Marco Dinges? Being the best A+ bat (outside of Dinges) this year is kind of like being the tallest Dachshund. Our top prospects are at other levels.
  6. Over the last 28 days, Contreras has a .598 OPS. If Murphy is going to hold Ortiz accountable for pitch selection, then he sure as hell needs to hold Contreras accountable. Jansen isn't a world beater, but Contreras has been pretty bad the last month.
  7. Dumber decision to call Yoho up. Huge series, not the time or place to try a rookie.
  8. His OPS and OPS+ are higher than Contreras. Needless to say, they are higher than Hasse as well.
  9. Maybe the Arkansas staff told him that they think he can start next year. Perhaps he believes that if he can excel as a starter as well as he did as a reliever that he can get more in bonus next year. That, or maybe he has a smokin' hot girlfriend at Arkansas. Wouldn't be the first time that a pretty young woman swayed the rational decision of a young man.
  10. He wasn't a huge power hitter in college. He was incredibly consistent in that he struck out 10% of the time every season at Cal. Career .495 OBP in college, over .500 each of his last two seasons. There was something there. Hopefully the Brewers have gotten him back to the pitch selectivity that he had back in college.
  11. Might be adding the Astros to the mix. Paredes went on the IL with a significant hamstring injury, and Alvarez still isn't back from his hand injury.
  12. Funny thing about baseball, when a team wins a lot of games in a row/stretch, they tend to lose some afterwards.
  13. My guess is that after the Cubs series next week Miz gets sent down and put on the AAA "Development List" to skip a start and Cortes takes his spot in the rotation. Miz will be back in the rotation for the 5-game set against the Cubs starting 8/15. Then, with no off days from 8/15 to 9/1, they could go 6-man. They'll get another arm for the DH against the Cubs on 8/18, but that will surely be a starter (Myers/Henderson/Patrick).
  14. I am absolutely shocked that *four* ballots completely left off the player who is leading the Southern League in OPS by a mile (and was top 5 in all of the minors in XBH when he got injured, so it isn't just HRs). Well, one of them doesn't shock me, and I can understand not having him in the top 10 as there isn't a ton of difference between #1 and #10 for me. But to not have him at all in the top 20? Question the K rate (which isn't terrible, is getting better, and is offset by a stellar BB rate), but I question how many of these A-ballers are going to be as successful making the jump to AA, especially hitters in the pitcher-friendly Southern League.
  15. O'Hearn has an OPS+ of 134 in 2025, 120 in 2024, and 122 in 2023. Bauers has an OPS+ of 91 in 2025, 85 in 2024, and 87 in 2023.
  16. I think he can just stay in MKE. They can put him on the "Development List" at AAA. Pirates did that with Skenes in 2023.
  17. The one guy who makes the most sense to me is Ryan O'Hearn. Upgrades Bauers, insurance in case Vaughn turns back into a pumpkin. Only making $8M this year. Free agent at the end of the season, so he shouldn't cost much. Two of Luis Lara/Mike Boeve/Jadher Areinamo/Carlos Rodriguez, can have Elvis Peguero if they want him.
  18. Brock Wilken Took a while to overcome taking a fastball to the face, but leads the Southern League in OPS and HRs by a mile, was tied for 2nd in all of the minors in HRs and top-5 in all of the minors in XBH when he got injured. Slashed .237/.368/.570 in May and then .304/.409/.786 in June. Road OPS alone would still be 4th in the Southern League.Cooper PrattLogan HendersonRobert GasserLuis PenaBraylon PayneJesus MadeJeferson QueroMarco DingesAndrew FischerLuke AdamsTyson HardinColeman CrowJosh AdamczewskiBishop LetsonBrett WichrowskiLuis LaraTyler BlackBlake BurkeEthan Murray If any of these guys get traded, my next five in order would be Yoho, Meccage, Bitonti, Boeve, Knoth.
