  1. Perhaps the most amazing statistic of last night was that the top three guys in BCs lineup combined for nine hits - and only totaled one run and one RBI.
  2. Rogers only went 1.2 IP... didn't see anything in the game notes. Please tell me it's a blister (or an ejection) and not a shoulder or an elbow.
  3. Anyone else a little surprised and pleased to see Ned Yost jr. having some success early on here..... I realize he was a full term college player, but he was not terribly heralded. This is the same league that my friend Jak Kraus (pronounced "Jake") 10 years ago hit .398 and was second in all of rookie ball in HR's and RBI's after going undrafted after five years at UWM (was a medical redshirt one year). He said that rookie ball is a step down from Division 1-A College ball. So it doesn't surprise me at all that Yost (and Katin and Braun) is hitting well in that league. Not that I don't want NYJ to do well... I'd like to see what he can do behind the plate with a healthy wrist/hand next year.
  4. Well I think we now have definitive proof. No Branyan no win. Thank you!
  5. I do. Obermueller has given up three singles, one of them an infield single, and Weeks botched a DP. In Obermueller's last outing he gave up three singles, one of them an infield single, and two walks, one of them an intentional walk. All those singles would really have helped Carlos win the HR derby. Yep, he's really getting pounded. Those singles are really driving up that OPS-Against.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  6. One of the better defensive third basemen I've seen in person. His approach at the plate is pretty good too. While in Beloit, he would have bad stretches where he seemed to be pushing too hard and would strikeout a lot. He has pretty good power but not great power. He's more of a doubles with occasional dingers kind of hitter. Based on that description, is a Jeff Cirillo comparison somewhat accurate?
  7. Since this team is neither great nor terrible, it will be rare that they have a run differential greater than 6 or 7, so if there's a time to use JDLR (or Obie) it's now. I don't understand using Wise when up by 6 or 7. Save him for the close ones.
  8. Why don't they give up on the Ricky Bottalico experiment? Why don't they give up on the Julio Santana experiment? Obermueller gave up three singles, one of them an infield single, and two walks, one of them intentional. It's hardly like they were crushing the ball off of him. You could not possibly have watched the game and said that the game should even have gotten to Obie. Two hits and an error in the seventh, that's what killed them. No runs scored the last nine innings - basically the Marlins threw a shutout on the Brewer offense. Check that - they were NO HIT for nine innings. It is almost mathematically impossible to win when you are shut out for nine innings. Four hits in 12 innings. That's pathetic. There's plenty of people to point fingers at for this one, but they should be pointed at a lot of people before they are pointed at Obie.
  9. W.T.F is this? This ain't freshman poetry All for a damned bat
  10. following requests from each player permitted in their contracts with the club. Obviously this was not by choice of the Brewers or Sounds. Can't blame them - Orie was down to fifth on the organizational 3B depth chart (Branyan, Cirillo, Helms, Hall). Paronto knew that a 40-man roster move would be required to bring him up, and chances are they would call up Adams or Bennett or Hendrickson before they would make that roster move. Oh well. Move Glover to long relief and bring up Sarfate. Can Warren Morris play 3B?
  11. Nope, no Brewer cap on. I was behind the 3rd base dugout, but 23 rows up. Section 132, row 23, seat 9. Wearing a blue hawaiian shirt. Stuck out amongst the red. Cy - where were you sitting? I did see one person further down the 3B side about 25 rows up stand up and give the "O" when Overbay pinch hit. I was looking around for other "O"'s, but didn't see any.
  12. Just got back from the game. Observations: - Hardy's HR was a BOMB. LF never even turned around. Almost got upper tank w/it. Longer than Burrell's. - Weeks easily could've been 3-4. The liner to Thome was a rope. Good plate discipline. Got caught looking on the K, but he is very patient at the plate. - Davis was not sharp from the get-go. Although, I think both teams were griping about the strike zone (or lack thereof)... but at least the ump was consistent. - Hall's play was outstanding. Right in front of me. And he had plenty of time to throw the guy out. Good pick off the hop by Overbay. - What really hurt was Davis not getting out of the 6th. He was due up second the next inning. Unfortunately they had to blow Santana, and subsequently PH for him, which brought in Bottalico. - Hey Doug, any offers for Bottalico?
  13. Is our 2B WOAH SOLVD?
  14. Apparently Terry Trofholz, the 24-year-old 2003 22nd round outfielder out of TCU, has hung up his spikes after two productive seasons with Helena and Beloit. Wow. That was unexpected. Hopefully it's not the same reason why my friend Jak retired (suddenly became a daddy and can't support a family on $1000/month).
  15. Dammit, I live in LA now and can't get radio or TV. What the hell is going on???
  16. What the hell's going on? It takes ESPN forever to load the game log page.
  17. Starting guys because of contracts when an obviously better option exists is simply stupid, ********, and any other synonym for dumb you want to use. Historically, it's so unlike Milwaukee management to do such a thing. (Read: Greg Brock, Franklin Stubbs & Cooper - at the end of his career - over Robidoux, Meyer & Stanicek; etc.; Jeffrey Leonard over LaVel Freeman; Tom Brunansky & Brian Harper over Troy O'Leary; etc.)
  18. Last I checked, Hart's OBP was .330, exactly the major league average...but, of course, he's in AAA. Considering that his coach has a career ML OBP of .337 (with a career BA of .292) I don't think that we can draw a lot of conclusions about that OBP given that his current coach is probably not the best teacher in that department.
  19. I was at the game as well. (Sect. 421, row 5, seat 5... I didn't pick out the seats, my friend did) Santos was not sharp at all - he got hit hard. Santana was sharp, but once the shadows set in after the 3rd inning no one was hitting anyone - Santana, Kinney, Wise, Adams, until the 9th. Speaking of the 9th, I think the umps had an early flight because Ginter and Moeller both got jobbed. Especially Ginter. I'll take two out of three anytime, anywhere though.
  20. I was THERE man! I was THERE!! Section 223, row A, seat 12. And no, I didn't see JLH. (Didn't see the game either - got there in the bottom of the 3rd, left in bottom of 8th. Little traffic from Santa Monica to Anaheim.)
  21. Bill & RoCo, Get yer arses on the live chat.
  22. I'm tellin' ya, Obermueller could be PH on the days he's not starting. A poor-man's Kieshnick.
  23. Why isn't Brooks pinch-hitting for Bennett???
  24. I really haven't been able to watch much the last... well, since April 19th, but what I've seen from Adams is that while he isn't lighting up the radar gun, he has been hitting the corners as well as anyone I've seen in recent history. You don't need velocity if you can paint the corners with movement (see Greg Maddux).
