  1. Really hope this gets in. Monday is perfect for me as I have no class. Of course, Tuesday is my full day. Really sucks for the people who took off of work. I've already suffered enough dissapointment this series; I have to give up my face value ticket for Thursday's game because of a Managerial Econ exam, ughhh!
  2. Yeah, what's with that? He certrainly doesn't seem to be getting better each year, but rather a little worse actually. How in the heck do you pick him in front of a guy who is coming to a inferior league after dominating the superior one since '02?
  3. Yeah he had the same exact offer from the Jays the day he signed with the Cubs. Looking at the stats I too noticed he was pretty good the last 3 out of 4. He probably won't be as good this year as last, but you never know. Maybe he found something in his delivery to help with his control. He was pretty awesome for them last year. I know it's moot now, but he should of been on Doug's radar. A 4 yr / 45 mil offer would have had to have him at least considering the Brewers. Sheets, Gallardo, Lilly, Villy, and Parra would be a tough starting 5. That top 3 could have been really nasty in a playoff series. Having him instead of Soup would have made me much more comfortable losing Sheets this off season.
  4. Yep. I remember you and I had similar arguments against the re-signing of Mo in the off season. He just isn't a point. At least not for a winning team. I take it Sessions got somewhat significant playing time last night. About time; it was asinine to have him sit on the bench the last few weeks. You'd think they would want to know what they have in him going into next season.
  5. This thread isn't about Wednesday's matchup, but rather who would you rather have signed. As far as I know, the Brewers weren't linked to Lilly the off season we signed Soup. All things considered, I think it's hard to argue today that Soup was the better signing. Both got similar deals (Soup got 2 million more, same amount of years) from the NL Central favorites. Last year, Lilly had a career year while Suppan was solid, yet unspectacular. Sure, Lilly probably would have had a higher ERA with our porous defense but he fits in much better. He's gonna miss a lot more at bats than Suppan ever will. On the flip side, the Cubs would have been a better fit for Suppan as they have a much better infield defense and his stats would have probably shown that if he was with them last year. Looking back, who do you sign? We need a lefty who can strikeout people, Soup needs a strong infield defense. If you think about it, the choice seems obvious.
  6. TLB: Scouts are very divided on Prior's mechanics. Some think they are flawless while others dread his mechanics. Read this link for a good breakdown: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthread.php?t=157308
  7. If you log on to MLB main website you can have a look at the other type of Cubs fans: obnoxious, drunken college students.
  8. Seriously, Krystokawiak is the worst coach of all-time. If any combination of him coaching next year, or Sund/Babcock as GM, I won't even bother to watch a game.
  9. Wow did Weeks hit have a sound to it. Hit very hard to center.
  10. The website RockBottomGolf always has very good deals. I guess it depends if you would like to test out your clubs before purchasing them. Not sure where you reside, but Oshkosh has a very good Golf Outlet right off HWY 41. Good prices and the workers can steer you the correct way for your money and skill level. Always try to get something thrown in or negotiate with the guys, worked for me. My personal reccomendations: 4 years ago I bought the Wilson Deep Red Driver for 279.99. Before I would crush it but always go left. The guy told me this will straighten you're drive out but take off 10-15 yards. Sure works for me. If you are looking to get woods, I would personally look into hybrids instead. Ben Hogan makes an awesome hyrbid priced at $70. Probably the best value on the market. Cleveland Hibore is also a great one but it is $90. Hope this helps.
  11. Saw this on the sports blog "with Leather". Everyone except Bogut needs to go. http://www.withleather.com/post.phtml?pk=5367
  12. Too bad he isn't stuck to just LF. He would be a much better option than Kapler with the bat.
  13. Well it seems Tony Gwynn will be starting in CF and batting 2nd. Starting Gwynn over Gross vs RHP is a friggin crime. Late last year, we did so well with Gross batting behind Weeks. One of the two or both always seemed to be on for Braun and Prince. Gwynn should really only be used for late inning defense and pinch running.
  14. Forrest Gump: Talking to Jenny's grave Dead Poet's Society: When Ethan Hawke's character loses it I get pretty choked up Saving Private Ryan: Ending
  15. He reminds me of a younger Tony Graffanino.
  16. In this case, you're really not wearing the Brewer googles. Everything you said was spot-on.
  17. Of the three I'm thinking Krabbenhoft is their best option. Quicker than Stiemsma and stronger than Landry. But yeah that matchup is not looking too good for them.
  18. If you're worried about Joe starting I'm sure Mark Ellis would become expendable if they acquired Rickie. Since dadofandrew doesn't think Bush would interest Beane much (why do you assume this DOA? getting more expensive or just don't think much of his talent?) we'd have to up the ante. How about this final proposal: Weeks, Gamel, Bush, Jeffress for Blanton, Street, and Ellis.
  19. Who guards Beasley? Landry, Krabbenhoft, or Stiemsma?
  20. That is very bold Bucky. Would definitely make up for the last couple of short seasons. Sabathia only pitched 241 innnings in the AL last year. I'm guessing that The Big Unit was probably the last NL pitcher to go over that mark back in the early 2000's.
  21. With the consensus of the Weeks for Roberts thread being no deal, I tried finding a better match. After this last off season, everyone knows Oakland is in a rebuild mode. Players that are known to be offered are Huston Street, Joe Blanton, and Rich Harden. Weeks seems to be a player that Beane would covet. We have prospects that are still a couple of years away that he might be interested in as well. A player like Mat Gamel who is pretty much blocked for the forseeable future would probably draw interest, as well as a player like Jeremy Jeffress who has all the talent in the world but is at least 2-3 years away. A cheap starter like Bush would be ideal for them to bridge the gap between the next wave of talent. Not to mention Bush would probably do pretty well in that park. How about: Weeks, Bush, and Gamel for Blanton + Street. Crazy Joe could take over 2B with Blanton being our #2/3 and Street setting up Gagne for a year. Would you do it?
  22. At least it would provide entertainment. I'm so sick of the mediocrity that comes from that franchise. If any team is ever gonna make a groundbreaking front office move like this, it should be the Bucks. They really have nothing to lose.
  23. Flawless form. Kid is right on the mark everytime. On another note, I think they just showed the artist formerly known as Adam Morrison. I don't think he's had a haircut since senior year. Wow.
  24. This game is playing a lot like an NBA game. Davidson play like the Suns with that white guy pushing it like Nash. Great stuff.
