  1. It depends on what we spend the money we would have had on. Ramirez has been superior offensively to Lawrie but Lawrie has been better defensively. Escobar would have definitely been a step up, although a healthy Alex Gonzalez was really good too. I do think this board overrates Lawrie. People act like he is a superstar right now and a future MVP. I know he is young but his power numbers suggest Corey Hart more than Ryan Braun. Now he could be what people think, but right now that isnt exactly what his numbers suggest. He isnt getting unlucky this year. He just isnt hitting for the power he hit last year which was the only year he really was a power hitter
  2. Pena with a terrific second start. The new additions have not disappointed in their brief time with Huntsville.
  3. He almost has as many XBH as singles so you are right, he is not hitting lucky singles
  4. If Segura can be league average SS for six years, we wouldn't even need the pitchers to do anything to have made an outstanding trade. Exactly! If Segura becomes a solid player we did very well. If on top of that Hellweg becomes a middle of the rotation guy and Pen becomes a reliever we did great. If Segura becomes a solid player, Hellweg becomes a number 2 type guy and Pena becomes a 4/5 type guy we had one of the best trades in Brewer history. The upside on Segura and Hellweg especially is really high so there is a chance this could be an amazing trade, but as we have seen with prospects before Segura could become a platoon type guy, Hellweg could blow out his arm, and Pena could become AAAA arm
  5. Not one person has implied Greinke is likely to come back here. Most have said there is a small chance. You act like there is NO chance. The last time you were this definitive on something it was Josh Johnson being a lock to the Rangers. Let's hope the same is true this time
  6. Segura has been very good through his first few games and Hellweg was great tonight! Apparently, Hellweg was hitting 98 on the gun tonight. I am not sure if I am more excited for Hellweg or Segura. I am a sucker for power arms and Hellweg fits that bill.
  7. What is crazy is he 60 XBH and 125 hits. Morris isnt that far from having as many XBH as singles. That is crazy
  8. Directly related to Melvin's refusal to sell until that 9-game stretch. Frustrating, although even at that point I doubt K-Rod would've brought back much value. Do we know that it was Melvin? Maybe the Giants didnt want or feel like they needed him until then. If it was Melvin then I am disappointed because I would have loved to get something at all for KRod
  9. Hellweg's night is done. He had a terrific first start. 5 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, and 7 k's. He didnt give up an earned run. I am really excited about his potential. Segura has a couple more hits already. And in the big surprise category - Hunter Morris adds his second double of the night
  10. 2 k's in his first 2 at bats. He might have his work cut out for him
  11. Jungmann showing why he was a top pick. 7 IP, 0 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, and 7 K. Nice to see him miss some bats tonight! He also continued to keep the ball on the ground tonight with 9 ground balls Hellweg looks really solid early as well. He has 6 K's through 4 innings to go along with 2 walks and 0 ER. Hunter Morris with another double. He is extra base hit machine
  12. 6 HBP and only 5 walks. That is a really weird stat line.
  13. I agree with Raw Biz. It all depends IF Marcum comes back and how he pitches. If he some solid starts he probably prices himself out of Milwaukee but he could choose to sign and get a bigger deal after a good season. If accepts and stays healthy he would be a great piece to trade at the deadline. If he doesnt sign we get a pick. It is all dependent on his health but if he is healthy it is a good risk
  14. The fairy land was terrible. The deer with the tree branches on his head??? And I agree 100% about Stewart leading them into battle. It was a Braveheart rip-off with zero emotion, range, or excitement. I completely agree with the last part. I actually have to ask people what they thought was good about it because I am so confused. It has a 6.6 on IMDB (I expected a 5ish) with 13% of people giving it a 10! People keep saying it was beautiful.
  15. It would have sounded crazy a couple months ago but I think Thornburg could be on the outside looking in next year. You have Gallardo for sure. I think we pick up a vet. Fiers is a lock. Then you have 2 spots with Estrada, Rogers, and Peralta definitely battling for them. It wouldnt hurt to have Thornburg get a little more seasoning in AAA. I guess they could choose not to sign a vet but I think they will just to have some stability
  16. Peralta was much better than his line tonight. 3 soft singles and a home run in the first but he dominant after that. Just 2 more hits in the next 6 innings, no walks, and 8 k's. I think he is about ready to get called up and get a few starts down the stretch
  17. Hunter Morris with another extra base hit. 58 of his 123 hits are of the extra base variety. He is walking a little more as well
  18. Seems like the home run was the only hard hit ball of the inning. A fly ball single, an infield single, and 2 ground ball singles. He has actually pitched really well the next 4 innings. 2 hits, 0 walks, 4 K's in the next 4 innings
  19. I dont think I have ever disagreed more with a post on Brewerfan I went to this movie a month back and thought it was one of the work movie I had ever seen. I thought the acting was horrendous - especially Kristen Stewart. Her range is non-existent. The dialogue was brutal. There were numerous times when characters were just staring at each other blankly. I went with 2 other guys (one thought it was going to be good) and we were laughing the 2nd half of the movie. Everything felt forced to me and the characters were not believable and some were just plain awkward (the queens brother!).
  20. @Evan_P_Grant Sources: Rangers send 3B Christian Villanueva and RHP Kyle Hendricks to Cubs for Dempster. Not sure who this guy is but Cubs fan think his report is legit. Not sure what kind of return this is for Dempster
  21. Rosenthals reporting 2 Class A pitchers
  22. So it in ESPN's live trade blog. Cox stock has really fallen. He was the 62nd ranked prospect in 2011 and 88 at the start of this year. Now he gets traded for a reliever who is struggling this year
  23. Sounds like Shields is one of the guys on Arizona's radar. Has Gallardo even been mentioned there? I havent been around most of today
  24. Ok so talking about women's gymnastics as a guy is an easy way to get mocked but I am going to do it anyway. The new rule that each country can only have 2 women in the all-around final is ridiculous. The girl from the US who didnt make it was top 5 or something and the top 24 made it but because she had 2 other women from her team who were top 4 she doesnt get to go. That is such a stupid rule. It would seem you would want to see the best competitors in the world in the final but that is not what is going to happen. If only the girl would have been born in Canada or something I guess
