  1. Has there been any talk of Ervin Santana or is just because some people here think Melvin is an idiot?
  2. Willingham faces better pitching? Team ERA ranking in all of baseball in the NL Central - Reds are 2, Pirates are 6, Cards are 10, and the Cubs and Astros are 24 and 28. The AL Central - Tigers are 14, White Sox are 17, Indians are 25 and Royals are 26. Now I know the AL has a DH but the AL Central is not a strong pitching division at all. As for fielding I know the Tigers are one of the worst fielding teams in baseball but I have no idea about the rest of the division.
  3. He doesnt need to bring back anything of substance but we still have to pay him if let him go, but if another team claims him then they pay. Totally worth it. He shouldnt be closing, but our fans have been forced to watched Veras, Axford, Wolf, any of the SS since Gonzalez went down, Weeks, Morgan, and others who have been terrible this year. It happens. If he keeps stinking the joint up for two weeks then we can look at releasing him
  4. In a completely hypothetical world - could Greinke land a prospect like Odorizzi? Part of me is just wondering what that trade is going to end up looking like. It is essentially a year and a half of Grienke, plus prospect we get for him in a trade, and a playoff run for Odorizzi, Escobar, Cain, and Jeffress. Interested to see the final tally in the deal.
  5. If that is true, I say we try to trade Ramirez in the off-season. Let everyone in on getting him. He is 5th in all MLB for OPS for SS so I think he would have some value for a team set up to win the next year
  6. Yeah there is a lot of junk that gets traded. I dont like KRod the pitcher but he had a decent month prior to taking over the closers job so if he could do that again someone would take him. To Briggs - there is zero reason to let him go. He may not be very good but neither is the rest of our bullpen
  7. I love to hear that is our asking price. Not surprised the O's said no but lets keep thinking big Doug! Here is the cbssports article on the Brewers asking price being really high. I love how many teams are thought to be interested. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/jon-heyman/19658073/interest-heavy-in-greinke-as-brewers-open-for-business-but-price-tag-is-high
  8. Who wanted to run Escobar out of town? No one. I am not saying Montero wont be a good hitter but he isnt right now. Smoak has been a bad big league hitter. Ackley had a decent year and a bad one. A couple of those guys actually got worse this year. With attendance you are actually making my argument for me because I think Seattle's chance to be very good for 6 years not just good in Felix's last year will come by trading him. I am not sure the point you are making. I actually read up on some of their prospects and it seems like their top ones are very good but all pitchers outside of Franklin at SS but I dont claim to know a ton about prospects. I do know I have read articles by baseball people saying that Seattle should trade King Felix so some people who know the game better than me think the same thing
  9. KRod has 3 saves in 9 chances. Axford has 16 in 22 chances. Well at least KRod was able to make Axford look good.
  10. I should point out I dont know ton about their prospects. Maybe those arms are cant miss type arms but I never assume a minor league arm is going to come up and be really successful. So, I guess maybe they should keep him, but I just dont see it. Texas and the Angels are going to be very tough the next few years and Oakland is playing really well right now. Seattle is not close to being a contender right now from what I can see
  11. But fans are not going to games right now. Like I said their attendance has dropped the last 5 years. They are 26th in the league right now. I would assume people are not following them that closely in general. Obviously it would hurt them right now but keeping Felix on a bad team then losing him in a few years to FA if he actually wants to go to a winner will hurt as even more
  12. Their pitching would have to be phenomenal to overcome that terrible offense. It is great they have 3 of the top pitching prospects in the game but to assume all three are going to pan out is probably a false assumption. Felix is currently in the 2nd year of a 5 year deal. They wont compete next year. That would give them 2-years of Felix with a team capable of maybe finishing in the top 2 in their division. The Rays when they have been a top team also had bats performing really well like Longoria, Upton, and others.
  13. I am all for selling high on relievers and corner OF. Positions that are easy or cheap to replace. If Fiers ends up as even a 4th starter he is not easy or cheap to replace. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=66&t=30557
  14. He pitches one out of every 5 games. Their attendance has gone down the last 6 years. Trying to keep fans in the seats by holding on to your lone superstar is a bad move. Trading that superstar for 3-4 player who could help you become competitive again is a good idea
  15. I am not purposing we should trade for him but I am wondering why on earth Seattle refuses to make him available for trade. Their division is stacked and they are not going to be competitive for another year or two. Felix is amazing and could demand a ransom. I know they are young but their lineup is terrible. They have one guy with over 100 AB who has an OPS over .761. That is insane. Their young bats in Ackley, Smoak, and Montero have all disappointed and their top prospects are pitchers. I know he isnt a Brewer and isnt someone we could land but I just dont get why he is still on Seattle's team. Maybe they are waiting until the winter
  16. The Greinke decision was the right one and I am actually it came from Melvin. Last night's game was all about showcasing Greinke and he had shown everything. You know you are trading the guy and there is no reason to throw him back out there. He had done his job which was to drive back up his trade price. If Greinke gets hurt or rocked in the 8th people would have had Ron's head. The Kotsay decision was terrible and the bunting gets old. Ron is not without his faults for sure, but the Greinke decision is not one of them
  17. Can they trade Dee since he is on the DL? I never understand that rule
  18. He was one of the best pitchers in baseball prior to last year. Durability is a question mark, but ability certainly isn't. I think the big X-factor for the Rangers would be having him next year as well. The Ranger's clearly prefer to do something with more than 2012 in mind, and I can't blame them. I hate rentals for the Brewers, personally. I am not denying Johnson was great those two years but there are serious question marks going forward including injury and is his stuff what it was pre-injury And I do understand the value of the extra year. So I see why they would look into but they were willing to trade for Hamels according to pretty much everyone and he was a rental
  19. I dont get the Josh Johnson trade for Texas. He actually hasnt been that great this year, he is an injury risk, and Olt is a top end prospect. I know Johnson is controlled for next year but he has only had 3 seasons of over 150 innings. His durability is a huge question mark
  20. The main question is do they want a guy with 2 more years or are they looking for a rental? Where does Aramis play once ARod returns?
  21. People are talking like Josh Johnson for Olt is a done deal which is a bummer for the Brewers. Hopefully, the Braves, Angels, White Sox, and apparently Red Sox make strong offers Edit - I posted this after reading another poster say it was a done deal in another thread. Now that doesnt look to be as certain. Sorry for spreading a false rumor
  22. The Braves have had interest in Hart in the past but I dont see it this year. Their OF is Heyward, Bourn and Prado (who is having a solid year) and at 1B that have Freeman. Where would Hart fit? They could send us Freeman
  23. I was one saying I didnt think he was the slam dunk others said he was. THe board as a whole seemed to be very high on Delgado. I think it would have be Delgado plus Pasternicky. Fill two needs.
  24. Dempster might have better numbers but if you asked every GM who they would rather have I doubt many, if any, would say Dempster. When we traded for CC his numbers were not great prior to the trade but he was an elite arm. Same is true for Greinke and not true for Dempster. After their collapse last year you can be sure the Braves are focused on making a run this year and Greinke gives you a better shot. I am sure they wanted Dempster because he would come cheaper. Delgado and Pasternicky would be a good offer.
  25. If the Braves are the partner it better be more than Delgado. He is a solid prospect but if they were willing to give him up for Dempster you would think Greinke should bring more back.
