  1. Another missed pi....lazard scores if the db isn't yanking his jersey for 10 yards while ball is in the air
  2. Run the damn ball downhill inside the 5
  3. Awful goal to go series... Wonder if Bakhtiari will be recovered enough from his appendectomy for the start of training camp next season. Not really even needing to put this in blue.
  4. If a condition of Bakh suiting up or not has to do with what the playing surface is (particularly when your NFC North opponents either play on turf or on the joke that is Soldier Field), then yeah I wouldn't bring him back next season. A huge part of being an elite LT in the NFL is reliability - being a guy you pencil in at that spot and know he's going to be there on game day pitching a shutout against a team's top pass rusher and not needing a ton of help sprinkled into the offensive gameplan. If Bakh's knee isn't capable of withstanding a 17 game regular season plus postseason run without regular rest and selective games sat out, he simply shouldn't be paid like an elite LT no matter how good he looks when he's feeling as good as he can feel. Premium roster spots are too valuable to pay market rate for a part time player.
  5. Baseball has and always will be a young man's game, no matter how much players in their 30s earn in salary - worrying about how a small market team can afford resigning a pitcher or hitter at the tail end of their prime as they reach free agency shouldn't be something we worry about as fans of the Brewers under the current system. Small market teams have to be great at identifying young talent in the draft and international signings every year and should focus all their resources at improving that aspect of player acquisition.
  6. Mark A approximate net worth: about $700 Million - likely 2023 Brewer payroll ~$120M - ratio of about 5.8 Steve Cohen net worth: about $13 Billion - likely 2023 Met payroll with luxury tax ~$500M - ratio of a whopping 26 I know this isn't how it works....but if we're focused on comparing a MLB team's payroll to its primary owner's net worth when assessing how much we want a team to spend on player salary, Steve Cohen has alot more spending to do in order to get the Mets' payroll up to about 2 and a quarter billion.
  7. Trying to recall if Mark A. even owns half of the Brewers....I think he was around 40% of a stake (controlling interest) about 10 years ago. Saying it's on Mark A to open up his pocketbook to spend more on players, when most of his net worth is tied up in investments, is economically ignorant and factually inaccurate to how the Brewers' organization is structured. There are plenty of minority owners that a small market MLB team has to both continually recruit and keep happy.
  8. The Vikings have had a miraculous run of health amongst their starting players this season on both sides of the ball. And they've been incredibly lucky in close games. It's one thing to find ways to win close games, but to win 10 games decided by 1 score or less and lose none? Vikings' point differential with an 11-3 record: +2 Other teams' average point differential who have at least 10 wins so far this season: +117 and change I posted it in a thread during the 1st half of their game against the Colts - the Vikings are going to get beat in their 1st playoff game and I don't think it matters who their opponent is.
  9. Sometimes you just need to go down....and sometimes refs should blow a play dead for forward progress and not let the opponent hold a guy up while teammates try ripping the ball away for 4 seconds.
  10. I think that cost them a title last year, tbh...would've made this type of quasi-transition season more palatable if they did what they were set up to do last season.
  11. pretty solid Q3 this game so far...
  12. laughable that's not PI...had his jersey the entire route
  13. Hope so - at this point in the season you take whatever you can get for a win....as bad as the defense likely is (particularly without Gary and Stokes), if GB's offense stays healthy and keeps showing the signs of development on the outside with Watson and Doubs, who knows in this NFC if they find a way into the playoffs?
  14. 3rd and 15, umbrella dropback zone coverage so you can gang tackle a receiver after he runs to a wide open spot 17 yards downfield...yeesh
  15. I just wish they had a better format to end a game like that than penalty kicks...I get the reasoning, I mean some of the players who went the full 120+ minutes yesterday probably ran 10+ miles and injury is a real concern - but game 7 of a Stanley Cup finals doesn't get decided on penalty shots. The extra time period was wide open, with both teams having fantastic chances for multiple goals - I think I'd prefer sudden death extra time periods after the current extra time format to decide a championship game in soccer.
  16. The Vikings have 11 wins vs only 3 losses, yet their point differential is +2.... That is impossibly hard to do.
  17. Guessing the Colts are going to expand their search for a new HC... Also - a miraculous Viking comeback against a team that's been mailing it in for a month + doesn't change my opinions of them come playoff time. They've been skating through this season winning games they deserve to lose.
  18. Thinking I'm going to put my life savings on whomever the Vikings play their 1st playoff game against...and its probably a safer bet that leaving it in my 401k. They are such frauds....
  19. It was never, ever intended to be used as a way to manipulate gas prices at the pump, definitely not to the extent that it was drawn down (~40% reduction in 2022) knowing the current domestic production capabilities won't be enough on its own to both maintain domestic supply and build the reserve back up without prices spiking again. Let's just hope there isn't further international strife that disrupts the supply to the US domestically now that the reserve has reached a level where it can no longer be used as a rainy day fund for energy supply. And buying it back next year in the midst of a recession will actually keep gas/oil prices higher than they otherwise would be during a period of diminished demand.
  20. yes and no - the concept of upping the quality game for auto manufacturers to maintain market share has been around for a looong time, which has definitely led to increased vehicle age on the roads over the years. If US automakers hadn't upped their game 15 years ago many more of those companies wouldn't be around. The recent surge and now drop in used car prices is more supply and demand-based, not just because cars magically got more reliable in the past two years so nobody even wanted to buy a different (new or used) vehicle than the one(s) they currently have.
  21. they've dropped about $.40/.50 a gallon here in MPLS area the last few weeks, too. end of summer gas formulations, typical seasonal drop in driving miles for winter in the midwest, and a good ol' fashioned recession is a good mix to get those prices back down. Also, just checked the SPR stockpile graph - seems like oil has continued being siphoned from them even into December, down to levels not seen since early 1984....that's definitely having an impact to accentuate gas price dips for now.
  22. There's a ton of value for small market clubs to mine out of minor league systems with players who aren't bonus baby 1st round talents, prospects who were positionally blocked, and/or former HS draftees who just didn't develop in time before they had to be shipped elsewhere/released by their original organization - particularly if injuries early in their career were the cause. The Brewers need to be bigtime players on the prospect/minor league free agent scrap heap in order for them to maximize the talent brought into the organization each year. Once you get past the players drafted in the top 5 overall picks each year and how they typically jump into the top of these lists, a huge aspect of prospect ratings are dependent on timing of both when guys flash and when other guys graduate off the list into MLB. Sometimes players force themselves into MLB so quickly the top 100 list doesn't have enough time to course-correct and push them up the ladder.
  23. anyone else really looking forward the 1st time the now Cardinal Wilson C. gets hit by a backup slider next season with his little bro behind the plate?
  24. Yes, the mileage driven lag during the pandemic definitely helped extend the life of used cars to the point we're at currently in the US. We've got a pair of 120K+ mile vehicles currently going in our household, and our gameplan is to also splurge on a new or very lightly used vehicle as our new primary when that time comes and then keep our minivan for local kiddo shuttling. My small SUV probably will have less miles on it but really won't fit our family as the kids get bigger, so I'd hope to sell that via craigslist to have a healthy downpayment on our new ride once we're ready to buy. It'll take one of our cars becoming mechanically unusable before we buy another one - at least until car prices drop quite a bit more.
