  1. And a good reason why he was a third round pick
  2. Love stinks, scored too fast in that spot
  3. He is one of the best color analysts in the league - should get alot more exposure on national telecasts than he does. Really. He never shuts-up, loves to hear himself talk. As a kid we use to say he has diarrhea of the mouth. You're thinking of Tony Romo - the job of a color analyst is to talk in between plays, so they are naturally going to have to talk alot. Romo flatout takes over the play-by-play as well and completely overwhelms a booth at times. I'd say it's also a tough ask to be very entertaining calling a game like this when the better team is focused more on staying healthy and could care less if they win.
  4. Safety needs to be fairly high on the draft board next year. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a cap casualty this offseason. I'm pretty certain cutting Savage, who is still on his rookie deal, would save them $0 on the 2022 cap. He's definitely not playing his way into a big contract extension, though.

  6. I've been one of the bigger Crosby defenders around here, but I'm fully looking forward to moving on to a new place kicker next season. Crosby has already had one big bounce back in his career, and I really don't want to have to try and see if he can regain reliability a 2nd time - its rare enough for a kicker to succeed with the same team after getting a 2nd chance. Factor in diminishing leg strength that leads to far too many kickoff returns against a perennially poor ST unit, and I just want to see new blood. Question - if he opts to retire, does any dead cap space get reduced to zero for 2022? Or will it be the same impact on the cap figure if they just cut him?
  7. Yep, my bad....math is hard on a Sunday for me, apparently
  8. And Adams has missed two games this season, btw...so he is 20 yds shy of a team record in 15 games. A record Jordy has from 2014 after playing all 16 games.
  9. I think Rodgers plays just long enough for Myers and Bakh to get used to cadence, snap counts, and line calls as a unit with the rest of the line, and then Rodgers can take the rest of the game off
  10. I'll also state that I'm a bigger fan of Jalen Rose for what he's done off the court and after his playing days ended in terms of giving back to the community he grew up in and other philanthropic endeavors.
  11. 12 year NBA careers are often not the result for a player that was overhyped in college - the fab five almost had to be overhyped, but they absolutely changed the landscape of college basketball having freshmen play huge minutes. King and Jackson were the coattail riders of Weber, Howard, and Rose - Jalen was a top tier college recruit, but Weber and Howard were always more touted.
  12. For context, Brady also threw the ball almost 100 more times than Rodgers last season for roughly 400 more yards with the same amount of games played - with a much healthier stable of running backs at TB's disposal...their offense and his quarterback play make him a high volume passer. They didn't change anything with their offensive approach this year because a few running backs got injured. GB hasn't had anything close to their starting offensive line in tact all season long - that's the position grouping most critical to passing game success with a veteran quarterback. TB maybe had their center knicked up and a guard miss a game or two, but their line has been remarkably healthy. As OSS states in a post he beat me to, the injury argument is firmly in Rodgers' corner of the MVP debate between him and TB12.
  13. Sounds like the NFL is at least kicking the tires to identify a backup Super Bowl venue location if local COVID-related restrictions pertaining to crowd size become an issue - LA County/City of LA as of yet do not have crowd capacity limitations reimposed as of yet, but they did just extend their indoor mask mandate they had originally reinstated in mid-December before their latest COVID spike really took off through Super Bowl weekend. Cowboys stadium reportedly has already reached out - would potentially make for a fun Packer return Super Bowl trip to Jerry's playhouse.
  14. They want to maintain roster flexibility to both weather any future COVID-related issues and also give them more room to add at the trade deadline. Waiving Boogie now doesn't mean they won't bring him back later, either.
  15. His comments were inappropriate no matter when he stated them. Trying to justify the mindset for them and primarily apologize for just not having the patience to wait until after casting a vote for a sports league MVP before stating them might be worse, IMO.
  16. If you watch Rodgers' quote and how he kind of smirks saying that while slowing down that part, I think that was intentional shade directed to emphasize his whole "cancel cancel culture" mantra
  17. Hub has made a good living in front of TV cameras and microphones knowing how not to sound like a fist-shaking old man....he's also in cover his rear end mode right now trying to make sure this moment of honesty doesn't send him into early retirement. When I used to live in Chicago I had 670 The Score on religiously, and Hub consistently came off as a pompous know-it-all...perfect for regional sports radio programming but the more he talks faster he finds a way to get himself in trouble.
  18. Only one guy and a Chicago writer so take it for what it's worth. But votes are most likely going to split between Rodgers and Brady so even losing just a couple is quite likely to cost Aaron the award. Hub Arkush should really look in the mirror if he wants to see a bad guy - he called the Seahawks thugs the year they won the Super Bowl because "they were a bunch of bad dudes". That wasn't just singling Brandon Browner out, who may have actually been a bad dude based on various off the field issues he dealt with throughout and after his playing days were over - in fact he was pointing that much more towards Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Kam Chancellor because they were the players in front of media microphones much more often than not touting their Legion of Boom mantra. It's honestly a badge of honor for Rodgers if that tool doesn't like him.
  19. I think what you're really saying is that 3-6/4-5 matchups will be more competitive than watching Alabama or Georgia play 3/4 seeds. Well, Georgia was the 3 seed...and its been discussed that the 4 seed has won it all a couple times in blowout fashion against higher seeded opponents. For me, expanding the playoffs also makes teams like Alabama actually have to face quality opponents on consecutive weeks to win a national title - something they do everything possible in their schedule to avoid to cement their stranglehold on a top 3 ranking all season long. Alabama may indeed be the best team every year and blow everyone out - but at least give a couple other quality programs a shot at them on consecutive weeks where they don't have a month to prepare between tough games.
  20. Could be wrong, but I don't think they'll set times/dates for the divisional round until after the end of this week's games at the earliest - pretty sure they will split up the #1 seed games so there's one on Saturday and one Sunday, and timing will depend on what potential matchups there look to be. Really a crapshoot at this point since both top seeds are located in the central time zone.
  21. Old Chicago stadium would've been a contender, similar to Boston Garden - Jordan Bulls, vintage Blackhawks hockey, some great historical boxing matches, concerts, political conventions, it even hosted the 1st NFL Championship game because the Bears didn't want to play outside in the snow
  22. Yeah - if he's not able to play this week in Detroit to at least get some game snaps, I'd be really hesitant to activate him for a playoff game for his first action if it meant having to deactivate a healthy lineman and leaving yourself too thin across the line if Bakh either can't make it through a full game or is a turnstyle after a full season of inactivity. Same thought goes towards wanting Alexander to play this weekend to test that shoulder out a bit so his first attempt at a tackle or contact in a divisional playoff game doesn't lead to him going off the field and then they have one less active DB to turn to - hopefully Alexander's COVID issues progress quickly and he's feeling strong enough to go Sunday afternoon.
  23. Brady has been playing without his offensive stars all season long, Gronk was out more than half the season, AB out for various reasons, Fournette has been dinged up and lost for the season a couple weeks ago, Evans has sat games, and Godwin out for the season. Brady has not yet seen a full offensive roster all year, so just because Rodgers has been missing guys as well doesn't mean he is the only one having to deal with it. Sorry, but Rodgers has had more injuries to deal with all year long on the offensive side of the ball, for much longer than Brady as well. Rodgers has played the entire season without his starting LT, his starting LG was playing out of position and then went down with an ACL injury about a month ago, his starting center has been out most of the year, the current starting center should probably be playing RG so the rookie starter there didn't have to take all his lumps in game action while developing, and his starting RT has missed the last month or so of games as well. TE1 out for the year with an ACL mid-season, RB1 missed a few games due to a knee sprain, WR1 out a couple games due to COVID and an injury, slot receiver out the past month, WR2 out about half the season with hamstring/COVID issues. Has been playing himself with a broken toe on his plant foot for over a month... One position grouping the Buccaneers have been remarkably healthy at is their O-line, which is probably the strength of their offense to begin with. Put Brady behind a line in Tampa Bay that is missing 4 of its opening day starters along with not having their best tackle the entire season and he's nowhere near passing for a 5,000 yard season even if he has a full complement of veteran skill position players. To me the guys up front are much more important to an elite quarterback's production than who he's throwing to - if he has time to survey the field, a really good veteran quarterback will put up numbers no matter who's running routes in today's NFL. All of the key offensive skill position players Tampa has lost have gone down recently, which mirrors their uneven offensive performance in recent weeks - Gronk is no longer a great player and frankly should be expected to miss significant time due to injury at this stage of his career. The Godwin injury hurts them a ton - he's a better version of what Edelman was with the Pats in Brady's earlier years, and frankly doesn't happen if Brady doesn't throw him into that hit a few weeks ago.
  24. Then the voters who vote for someone else for that reason should be stripped of being a voter. You can't take off the field circumstances into consideration. Isn't the whole narrative around Kirk Cousins and Carson Wentz that they're bad leaders and teammates because of similar reasons? I don't see how that won't be taken into consideration by some voters. That's a false narrative that gets absolutely zero play inside NFL locker rooms and team facilities. At this point of the pan/endemic, anyone continuing to make those type of comments aimed at bashing unvaccinated players (none of which are current players or coaches) shouldn't be taken seriously anymore. Rodgers missed one regular season game because of his positive COVID test during a time when the league protocols didn't allow him the opportunity to play - he actually might have had a chance to suit up in that Chiefs game if the current protocols the NFL is using to actually complete this season and move forward longterm were in place. Many of the NFL press box's counterpart MLB reporters and "league insiders" opined that Burnes wouldn't win the Cy Young because he missed a couple starts after sitting out with COVID in Spring 2021 and not getting a vaccine that might have delayed him getting infected until a couple months further into the season when a good chunk of the rest of the Brewers who were vaccinated got it in July/August...how'd that hot take work out for them?
  25. Amen...No idea if Z. Smith will be an option a few weeks from now in the playoffs to be an occasional pass rusher, but would really like to see Bakh and Jaire get some snaps before the divisional playoff round to ensure they are healed enough to be counted on for a playoff game. To me Bakh and Jaire have to show they can withstand game action to justify getting added to the postseason roster - otherwise if their first game action is in the playoffs and the first couple hits or pass sets lead to them having to come off the field, it leaves the Packers gameday roster really shorthanded.
