  1. Shaw had 7 ABs from his last callup, prior to that he had several weeks of crappy production at the MLB level during Hiura's initial undeserved demotion in early June, prior to that Shaw was godawful at the MLB level for 2+ months before hitting the IL with a nagging wrist issue. Shaw's recent AAA production is taken with a grain of salt because he's demonstrated a prolonged lack of production at the MLB level in 2019, and even when he's hitting well he still stinks against LHP. That reduces Shaw's opportunities for consistent MLB at bats on this roster, so if he doesn't mash when he does get a few starts, people are tired of watching him be a black hole in the lineup and he becomes a waste of roster space. Shaw should mash AAA pitching if he's healthy, in fact he should mash MLB RHP if he's healthy regardless of how many at bats he gets - because he is an established MLB player who has proven as much. However, the longer he goes without reminding everyone he can hit well at the MLB level, the smaller his track record of good offensive production looks to both fans and front office folks - Shaw has had a very long leash to get going, if it doesn't turn around with even the limited opportunities he keeps getting when he's put in optimal spots for success it's on him. As for Grisham, he's been putting up video game #'s in AA and AAA for several months now and he's 22 - seeing him excel at his first opportunity in AAA is reason for excitement in his growth as a potential impact offensive player as he develops, while seeing Shaw hit well in AAA is more of a feeling of relief that perhaps he's healthy and can actually contribute at the MLB level.
  2. I like seeing Grisham starting in CF against a righty starter - not that he should totally replace Cain but it gives the Brewers enough options to get everyone at bats if they are confident with him in center occasionally...it's actually crazy to think how close to a totally LH lineup the Brewers can now roll out there when given the benefit of having a DH - SS is really the only position they can't throw a LH hitter into.
  3. Let's be honest, Diplan was probably the weakest player on the brewers 40 man roster the past few seasons and he hasn't shown near enough progress to worry about losing him. His best value to the organization was being a 40 man roster placeholder for the brewers to add mlb contributors at the deadline. Best of luck to Mr. Diplan.
  4. Will never happen, but I sure wish more MLB stadium playing surfaces will model Oakland's foul territory - not only would it help to rein in offense, but it would also help with foul balls rocketing into the stands right on top of the action.
  5. Shouldn't be too difficult - they are a better team than anyone in the NL Central right now...
  6. Based on ~1.5 games viewed, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the A's defense is top 5 in all of baseball - they've flashed some serious leather
  7. Kimbrel's highwire act gives the Cubs the game...dude just missed a game tying HR and the Cards couldn't capitalize with guys on 2nd and 3rd, 1 out.
  8. Feels icky, but hoping the cubs hang on tonight so the brewers have a shot at getting back to within 1 GB of the division lead. Gotta keep that close and hope they keep playing well against the cubs and cards down the stretch.
  9. Honestly, I wouldn't be opposed to grisham or yelich getting a few starts in center against rhp and having cain sit.
  10. Shocked they didn't trade yelich to make room for Grisham in RF... Glad to see them being aggressive with deserving players - guess the farm system is now ranked 35th somehow...although he was only their 6th or 7th rated prospect so it won't hurt too much.
  11. This is why Peralta is a less than ideal late inning option more than hanging curveballs...you just can't walk guys in these spots
  12. Because the 0.125 hitter is already in the game and they don't have anyone else who can play 3rd...despite what Clancy thinks;)
  13. Shaw was already pinch hit for last AB because he can't hit lefties, then Saladino came on to play 3B... Maybe Jesus will get a chance to swing the bat, too.
  14. wow...nice sequence by Albers there after falling behind 3-1...and getting Chapman props is due!
  15. Based on how that cement mixer looked out of Albers' hand to start the inning, I doubt it
