  1. let him go 5 and get the playoff W on his record - pitch count is very manageable right now
  2. I think that's getting too cute in a short series - you give Freddy this game knowing you'll have him on regular rest for a game 4 start (if necessary). No need to start reshuffling anyone on the staff 2 innings into game 1 of a best of 5 series if you don't need to.
  3. at least today's its being done while up 8 runs....but I get it. Wonder if after 5 or 6 IP if the game is still out of hand is when we see the Miz? Or will it make sense to give some other relievers an inning of work to knock off the rust?
  4. jesus - make them hit the ball to get on. this is the crap that gives teams hope if you have free passes on when somebody runs into a mistake pitch
  5. Busch seems way too comfortable in the box - thinking his third at bat needs to include a few pitches to adjust that
  6. The optimist in me is hoping he comes out there because the Brewers are already up 8 and there's zero need to risk anything the rest of today if he felt any sort of twinge going down the line. The Brewers fan in my just shakes my head with a "we can't have nice things vibe"
  7. I believe Ozzie Guillen said it best years ago... "Fun is winning...and winning is fun"
  8. I hope Civale stays in long enough for Vaughn to take him yard
  9. if there was a line for it somewhere, I missed early retirement
  10. naw - this is entertainment enough for me. I don't need pity to enter the room in my conscience at all, today!
  11. Soroka with 30 pitches to get 2 outs himself so far
  12. Cubs still holding the lead in HRs today though....and they do own the tiebreaker
  13. ok, this is now approaching upside-down territory nothing wrong with it in my opinion....just kinda bonkers
  14. I don't think I'd ever throw PCA a strike on the first pitch. There we go - stay out of big inning trouble and keep grinding at bats out when you're back in the dugout.
  15. I think a big part of that is the fact the Brewers have seen Boyd so much, too. Not that the Cubs had any other great options to start game one (maybe Soroka?)...but was surprised that Boyd was that starter. Knowing he got knocked out after a 30 pitch 1st inning probably shouldn't sit well with Cub fans knowing Boyd may now get the ball for either game 4 or 5, either.
  16. if Freddy can mow through the 2nd...so huge - just turn this into a laugher
  17. not as many as the Brewers have scored in 2/3 an inning this series
  18. I'd agree with you more if there weren't all the days off between games 1-2 and 3-4...feels like a game where the Cubs could just throw away if it gets completely out of hand and the pen isn't burned out because of it.
  19. Maybe Boyd can come in around the 4th inning again tomorrow Craigtober
  20. loving this AB no matter what happens... YES!!
  21. there's that elite defense on full display, lol
  22. Surprised CC left Boyd in to face Turang
