  1. Its not easy, but its not supposed to be for a coordinator/nfl head coach. That's why they are paid millions of dollars to run a game. Of the few dozen who are responsible for that to happen, mlf is probably among the worst at handling those scenarios - at least among teams perenially expected to contend. The Bears scored at will on the Cowboys the week prior, too. Scoring points against Dallas is not all that difficult
  2. Exactly....once they got the ball down 3 in overtime with how that game was going, they should have tried to score a TD as quickly and aggressively as possible, because doing so both wins the game and removes the defense and special teams getting another chance to lose it. Instead mlf opted to use the clock against and neuter their own offense based on the worry of what those units wouldnt be able to do the next time they took the field. Its just a losing strategy in that spot.
  3. We almost forgot to factor in the Cubs owning the tiebreaker against the Brewers...that means the Brewers play tomorrow instead, right?
  4. They still played alot of man coverage, but Hobbs/Valentine got exposed without a pass rush. Pickens had a huge game. I also despise that officiating crew - the missed intentional grounding late in that game, a missed obvious holding call at the point of attack on a big cowboy run, no PI on that 3rd down play where Wicks got mugged/face guarded. Then taking 10 minutes to get every penalty announced. End of the day, September football games mean zilch in January - but still frustrating watching this team make the same mistakes year after year...amd one noteable constant is the head coach
  5. I think its a product of all the kickers making 60 yarders with them being able to break the kicking balls in, and special teams coordinators putting mlre emphasis on designing field goal blocks to try and limit that play. All these long kicks are more susceptible to getting blocked based on a lower trajectory, too.
  6. Yes - but that is playing not to lose. That's how they lost the Cleveland game late, too, leaning on a bad special teams unit. Playing to win and being way more efficient with preserving game clock, especially after Dallas was out of timeouts, could've easily been done, and they could've still run the clock down and taken a timeout to kick a tying field goal if was apparent a TD wasnt going to happen
  7. I agree, and knowing a TD doesnt bring that into any sort of concern has me thinking MLF didnt fully know the rules
  8. I think the defense has to be blamed, too...but the 2nd quarter sequence that began with the blocked PAT and continued through the end of the 1st half is what got Dallas rolling in the first place- this game was headed for a blowout, then blocked kick to put Dallas on the board followed by a pair of timid drives, strip sack of Love in a spot many of us called for GB to just run the clock out and get into halftime with a lead....the overall management of the game sucked, and that starts and ends with MLF
  9. From the two minute warning the Packers were well within Cowboy territory, and picked up 15 yards on a pass to wicks, then let 40 seconds drain off the clock before their next snap. Another short completion to Doubs, clock still running...then a run by Wilson to the 12 with around 50 seconds left on the clock...runs down to about 30 seconds before the next play, which was that disastrous screen to Golden that was just begging for a blow up fumble. That forced them to take their last timeout. To then throw back into that same flat on second down is criminal, although that isnt all of MLF, as I dont think it was the primary read for whatever play that was called. So some of that is on Love. Then kind of muddle huddling for 15 seconds almost lost them the game and definitely cost them a chance to win it considering the wasted 2 or so minutes of clock time that happened earlier in the drive. Inside the 15 yard line in that spot, you should be looking for routes into the end zone, but could still work underneath before using your last timeout. Instead, and the play you call is a bubble/swing screen that loses yardage, loses a down, and loses your last timeout. Inexcusable.
  10. Im pretty sure the offense was also on ventilators in that spot, too. OT often looks liie this, when everyone on the field is gassed. At least it was good to not see a catastrophic turnover or bad holding penalty result in a loss. Tying the cowboys is next to no consolation, though. The playcalls absolutely made it worse, though - bubble and swing screens had lineman running a ton, plus those plays resulting in minimal gains or even lost yards kept the clock rolling.
  11. I wasnt disagreeing - something tells me the Packers use the extra time a bye week provides for way more than game planning against/focusing on their next opponent, and it shows on the field.
  12. Well, yep...as evidenced by the last two sundays
  13. Has to be really easy to lose focus on important aspects of the game as a head coach when you are also calling plays. That's absolutely an excuse, but probably has alot to do with what's going on with the late game chaos situations. Some guys just aren't cut out for that as a head coach. Knowing Biasaca helps with game management items just solidifies my belief he should be canned, too.
  14. My thought exactly...at least they get what I imagine is another bum team assuming Burrow is still out.
  15. It was how they lost the Cleveland game, but without the blocked kick, too.
  16. Yes - but he cant make that throw hoping the rb can make a guy miss to to pick up am extra two yards and stop the clock by getting out of bounds. The read needs to be in the end zone and out breaking routes where a catch is instantly out of bounds if you are short of the goal line. A throw away incompletion wouldve been so much better in that spot
  17. Yeah, but then why even think a swing pass to the flat to a back who wont be able to get out of bounds on 2nd down should even be thrown for a completion? That's the stuff Love really struggles with (no doubt in part because of the coach teaching him, id imagine), and that burned almost the rest of the game clock out - then when it gets to less than 10 seconds you just should take your medicine and spike it on 3rd and kick the fg without risking the clock going to zero.
  18. Not to mention it had a 2 minute warning and at least 3 of the 4 timeouts called in that stretch. Just horrible
  19. He still should...and Love probably should too for not having situational awareness most of that drive, too
  20. MLF needs to be grilled about his approach to that last drive - and if the answers arent good enough or dismissive he needs to be fired. I honestly think he doesnt know the rules where if you score a TD there you win and what is left on the clock means nothing.
  21. The absolute worst clock management coach lives in GB
  22. They deserve to miss this fg to lose
  23. Jfc with this clock management
  24. ********* with those swing screens
