  1. They said the same thing about Carpenter making a difference in the postseason chase last year, and he ended up contributing nothing. I'll believe Carpenter is a difference maker when I see him pitch in a Cardinals' major league game with the same stuff he had in 2006. Until then, he's not a factor. Ditto for Mulder and Clement. heck, if they expect their current crop of starters to pitch like this all year, there's no way they'd even point out the possible returns of these three guys. An injury or two and some missed time by Pujols (as simple as necessary off days to keep his elbow from exploding) mean rough times are ahead for the Cardinals - they have zero depth.
  2. Even though McClung is the current 12th man on the pitching staff, when Yo comes back I'd rather have McClung remain in that 12th spot and figure out something else to do with Bush. Maybe they go with a 13 man pitching staff and send Gwynn/Dillon down to AAA if they want to keep Bush as another long relief/spot starter option I remember the comparisons between Bush and Chris Carpenter...I thought at the time that the only similarities they had were that they were right-handed and pitched for the Blue Jays at one point.
  3. let's have a rally and take some of that Marmol hype down a tick
  4. Fukodome just got owned...he's like alot of hitters - easier to pitch to when he's not ahead in the count. also, me thinks he could have trouble with offspeed away...has to be a strike though, he does have a good eye.
  5. I'll take 2 of 3 against the Cubs anytime we face Zambrano in a series and we throw two marginal starting pitchers against them. in fact, I'll take 2 of 3 against the Cubs anytime, period. still some game left - it'd be nice to shut them down the next two frames and get some sort of rally going to make it interesting!
  6. this ump is brutal...Corey Hart's 6'6", not 5'6"
  7. And the wheels are falling off for this game so how long until one of Kendall's throws to 2nd drills the pitcher? Oh, and McClung is bad
  8. Not gonna say Yosted because the bats have been quiet today, but Ned's hook was at least a batter too late there
  9. He does have alot of late movement down on his sinker today...the low strike zone is definitely helping him it's not like the Brewers are swinging and missing at a tee
  10. This should be his last inning - right around 90 pitches behind in the count again...GEOVANY SOTO with the pop-up. Nedly might send him out there to start bottom 6 if his spot in the lineup doesn't come up this inning
  11. need to hold them here - if that means yanking Bush after the leadoff man reaches, so be it
  12. about as good as can be expected when you walk 3 guys and hit another during an inning....woulda been a whole lot better if he would make them swing though. 2 of the cubs 3 runs scored reached on walks, and the 3rd reached on a sketchy defensive play still, this team has 2 hits of Dempster in 4 innings - that's not going to win most days anyway...let's get the bats going
  13. this has all the makings of being almost a great job of getting out of the inning, only to give up 6 runs...please get Soriano out!
  14. walk, HBP, walk to start an inning... his ERA is unlucky though
  15. Fukudome is NOT Babe Ruth...at least make him swing the bat
  16. someone's gotta tattoo that get me over curveball dempster throws
  17. I didn't know corey hart's knees were only 6" off the ground this ump is bad
  18. Fielder seems to be jamming himself alot with his swing
