  2. mentioned it earlier in the thread, and I'll do it again - as much as it would've sucked to have today's game postponed until tomorrow, that's probably what they should have done...by the time they get the field ready to go after this delay, the next batch of T-storms will be there
  3. The Felix Pie experience - starting to look a heckuva lot like the Cubs' Corey Patterson experience
  4. nothing like a grooved fastball for Kosuke...that was a laser
  5. Beautiful AB by Hall - swing at a ball, then watch two strikes whiz past
  6. Take a seat D. Lee! the way these two pitchers are going, I think the forecast was on the TV in both clubhouses...they are working fast
  7. Corey Hart with the skull cap under the hat look...Nice!
  8. And that is why they probably shouldn't be playing this game...ball was too wet to throw after two hops on dead grass I'll take it right now though!
  9. I can't wait until the first deep flyball to right field sends Fukodome straight into a brick wall... Let's PLAY BALL!
  10. seriously, they're using up all this time for pomp and circumstance - it's gonna start raining again before they even start the game
  11. Interesting that the day the Cubs decide to honor Ernie "let's play two" Banks is a day when anything other than the season opener would have probably been a rainout.... karma can be a beeyotch.
  12. looking at the radar one more time, and if the game starts at 2, there's a decent chance of a heavy rain delay around 2:30 and 2:45, then about a 90-minute window before more rain comes into the area... if they are going to get this game in, the ump's strike zone is going to be anything that travels 60' 6" without bouncing first
  13. Just got back from lunch - it's not a warm day at all in Chicago right now...it's a miserable, cold rainy day. If this game gets played, I'm setting the over/under for groin/hammy pulls to 4. Wrigley field needed to have a tent covering the entire infield over the past week just to get the field in playable condition - the large amount of rain that fell early this morning has everything completely saturated, so it's going to take awhile for the field to be playable again after this rain. they might be stupid enough to start the game at 2 or 3, but they'd really be risking injuries with how wet everything is right now.
  14. At my office by Ohare, and it's absolutely pouring out right now - no way this game starts on time, if at all
  15. http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/5e925df9748dc61661c0e9cd2f9dcf47df38929.pjpg That window after this first batch doesn't look like a big one - anything boxed in red on a weather map is not good...I don't think they can even get 5 innings in before the really bad stuff starts knocking down trees in wrigleyville.
  16. http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/5fe25949b28196006d80e655e2f528a848d6051.pjpg All the red stuff is headed for Chicago in about 2 hours...there may be a window after it to get the game started, but it looks like T-storms are going to be blowing up all afternoon and evening
  17. For anyone who doesn't live in Chicago, it rained like crazy earlier this morning, and there's a steady drizzle/sprinkle going on right now - if there's any more heavy rain between now and gametime, first pitch won't be at 1:30. I wonder if anyone at ESPN broadcasting the game is going to state the obvious, that this series could have very easily been played 90 miles to the north, in a climate-controlled stadium, with no worries about mother nature....scheduling stupidity if you ask me!
  18. Catching prospects are so valuable that the only way to have them in your system without giving up tons of value is to draft and develop your own.
  19. How many of the "experts" picked the Rockies to win the National League last season? The Cardinals were supposedly the "experts" pick to win the division last season - Milwaukee was the default 2nd place team, because they showed the most potential...it wasn't until the season was a month old that the "experts" jumped on the bandwagon. Baseball predictions are pointless in March - writers and "experts" basically take a look at last season's standings and put whichever team won its division in first for the following season, unless some major acquisitions were made. I for one think Cameron, the new bullpen arms, and a full season of Gallardo/Braun are MAJOR helps to the Brewers.
  20. What's the point of a retractable roof if it's not open on a georgeous night? It makes the "Roof Open/Roof Closed" game all the more difficult and intriguing. Give me stadium in a northern city that has a retractable roof all day/every day. No matter what the weather, you can confidently plan trips/outings/parties at random games with no worry about mother nature raining you out. I've been to Wrigley for about 75 games over the past 5-6 seasons - the only thing appealing about it to me was that it was 3 blocks from my apartment...Cub fans don't like to hear that they don't even have the best stadium in their own city, but it's true. Hopefully the plans to fully renovate Wrigley keep the nostalgia and actually add some fan-friendly comforts. At the very least, the urinating troughs have to be taken out - every time a guy has to use the facilities it feels like you're at a tractor pull.
  21. If he had the catching tools to play in the Majors everyday, his bat at that position would have put him in the majors 2 years ago. I think that speaks more about how poor the catching talent is in the Brewer system right now, and puts an emphasis on drafting a catcher or two with some of the many early picks the Brewers have.
  22. And he's clearly a better pitcher still than Capuano... Since Capuano's probably the team's 8th option for a starting pitcher, that's not saying alot. Suppan will take the ball every 5th day, yes, but he's not the innings-eating horse many make him out to be. Basically, every game he starts, the manager has to have a plan to get at least 3 innings from his bullpen - for as many people who harp on Vargas for being a bullpen killer, Suppan wasn't that much better.
  23. I'm not too worried about Suppan, as long as the Brewers realize he should be their 5th starter once Yo is back and hopefully Parra and Villy/Capuano move into the rotation as the season rolls on. Sup's gonna be a near 5 era pitcher who gives up a ton of hits but at least keeps the team in nearly every game through 6 innings, and there won't be a concern about his durability. I'm more worried about Suppan's contract and the impact it's going to have on this roster after this season, when he's not tradeable. Gagne is a concern, especially if he gets off to a bad start in the regular season. As for Turnbow, there's probably a reason why he couldn't stick with the Phillies or Angels even though he could reach triple digits with his fastball...his first season in Milwaukee looks to have been the statistical outlier in his career so far. I love him as one of the arms in the back of the pen, but not as 'the setup guy'.
