  1. mlb.com link So, that's nice. This is Ryan's fourth consecutive Silver Slugger award, and Prince's second overall.
  2. Per our ticket rep, the annual clubhouse sale will be December 2-3. No other sale is scheduled.
  3. My first thought is, "don't go to the dark side, Dale!" My second thought is, "Unless, and only if, you can change the culture there."
  4. I just checked our online account again and under the "Pay in Full" button is one for "25% down payment." So there is at least one installment option.
  5. As of November 1, 2012 renewal information appears on our My Brewers Tickets online account. This probably means the renewal packet will arrive later this week. A few things I noticed about the renewal for 2012: The early renewal "incentive" date is November 18. The online account does not say what the incentive is; that should be in the mailed packet. Full payment is due January 13, 2012. After that date the Brewers won't guarantee seat locations for returning customers. The advance price for general parking is $9.00 (based on the amount we're being charged for our 20 packs), up from $8.00. Terrace Box seats for returning season ticket customers are $18.00 (up from $16.00). Loge Infield seats for returning season ticket customers are $32.00 (up from $30.00). By my reckoning, we could apply our World Series 2011 $ toward our 2012 invoice (even with the increases over 2011) and still get enough of a refund to pay for an additional 20-pack. Thanks, STL?
  6. I'm surprisingly bummed at the thought of Cory moving on. Though I like his work, it's not like he's been with the Brewers long enough to become an institution. It makes me wonder, not rationally, if the Brewers are going to lose a PBP guy every time they make the postseason. I also wonder how common it will be going forward for teams to have the same announcer for a long time. It's certainly no longer the norm for players to stick with one franchise, or (more broadly) most anyone to stay with the same employer of any sort for a whole career anymore. It could be once we're past the generation of Uecker and his contemporaries, everyone will switch often. Sigh. If Provus does leave this offseason, I'll have a few fond memories, among them: 1. His frequent use of the word "aforementioned." I just don't hear that much in conversation anymore, besides from Cory. 2. His affinity for calling the incoming pitcher "the new chucker." 3. On the night of the NL Central clinch, I happened to turn around in my loge seat just in time to see Cory watching the monitor to his left and pumping his fist excitedly. That is how I found out about the Soriano HR that put the Cubs ahead of STL and made the clinch possible that night. I'll also hope that whoever succeeds Cory, whether this offseason or in a future one, is more interested in reaching out to fans and fansites, as Jim Powell did with Brewerfan and still does with Braves fans via Twitter.
  7. Couldn't be Hart-y? I also see no mention above of Georgey, Takashi-y, Frankie (which works for both Rodriguez and FDLC), Joshy, Nyjie, Plushy, Clutchy, Tombstoney, or Craigy.
  8. I was at the west Madison Kohl's tonight and some of their postseason merchandise is now 50% off - not all of it, for some reason. The merchandise that wasn't 50% off was 20% off. The pint glasses I coveted are long gone, which makes it just as well that I bought some at regular price when there were still some in Madison - rather than have to drive closer to Milwaukee where the selection might be better. I enjoy mixing chocolate milk just that much more when it's in a NL Central Champions glass. (Yes, I'm lame.) The Kohl's I checked had maybe half a dozen sets of paired shot glasses, now for $7.50. The Boston Store I checked in Madison two weeks ago had nary a Brewers item. I guess in Dane County the Badger and Packer stuff takes up too much space. In 2008 the Brewers had a postseason merchandise sale at the team store in late October or so - definitely separate from the clubhouse sale. I remember being a little incensed about it because we'd just made a special trip the weekend before and bought stuff at regular price. I might email our ticket rep to see if something like that is in the plans for this fall. If I find out, I'll post here.
  9. Link to brewers.com press release As voted on by Milwaukee BBWAA members (all eight of them): Team MVP - Ryan Braun (unanimous) Most Valuable Pitcher - John Axford Top Newcomer - Nyjer Morgan Unsung Hero - Jonathan Lucroy Good Guy - LaTroy Hawkins Besides commenting here, you can also register a fan vote at this John and Cait blog, which among other things lists the breakdown of voting. Fun fact: The runner-up for Unsung Hero was Mark Kotsay. Kotsay.
  10. But Matt Holliday is a champion. Wish I could put that in blue. He also didn't lose a postseason series for STL with a botched play...this year. In a world where Nate McLouth can be a Gold Glove winner, isn't anything possible?
  11. Perhaps the contract indicated this move at this time. Who knows what else they've got up their sleeves? The double-switch is also plausible.

  14. http://robsmithjr.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/2009-0215-celebrate.jpg I thought about posting our time-honored "celebratory cork pop" image, but thought it might be better to celebrate this without alcohol. Here's hoping the STL clubhouse and organization become less cultlike.
  15. I love linguistic tangents! Yuni is truly a man of mystery: the pronunciation/origin of his name, his inexplicable roster tenacity, his .900 OPS in the NLCS, and even his batting music, which was the only one never identified by the Brewers. Yuni, we hardly knew ye.
  16. Who's Pip? (for us non-Milwaukeeans)
  17. I've said for some time that he's got a contract with Satan. When you view STL through that prism, a LOT makes sense.
  18. Reverend Brewmeister, you forgot one more thing that's going to suck: April 6, 2012, the Brewers' next game - UNLESS Brewers fans get it together and don't sell out to STL fans who will be all too eager to flaunt their 2011 world champion crap in our faces, in our ballpark. Indeed, I will be only mildly surprised if the Cardinals don't petition MLB to let them have their ring ceremony or whatever on the MP grass, just to show Milwaukee. Ahem. OK. I guess there's a degree of solace to be had in losing to the "eventual champion" (though that loses its sheen after the third time, or fourth if it also happened in 1981). Just as I've often said on this forum and in the chat room, STL 'tis no team, 'tis a remorseless baseball machine - and it's possible they were simply a juggernaut that couldn't be stopped down the stretch. That they stopped PHI first supports that theory. I agree with pitchleague that Nyjer's infamous tweets may well have been the spark that got STL going. All a spark really had to do was get TLR going, because he is a most able motivator (even if I don't think he always uses his motivational skills for good). I won't blame the season outcome on Nyjer, but I'll be happier going forward if the Brewers can avoid that kind of trash talk. I'm oddly OK with David Freese's success in the postseason. There are a lot of more vexing options on that roster. For his sake, I hope he doesn't get sucked into the cult of TLR. Hot Stove programming on MLB Network begins on Monday. See you there.
  19. Yeah, I'm hanging it up for the night. Talk about ending an otherwise fun season with a whimper. I wonder if they'll act like they've been there before when the game ends.
  20. I think you meant to say "motivational words spoken to himself. "
  21. Just started watching. How's the Chris Carpenter Cuss-O-Meter been tonight?
  22. I've cited Satan many times when trying to explain the Cardinals' success.
  23. It is remarkable, and I'm not really thinking yet about the prospect of no live games for 5 months. I'd rather it were two teams I have no opinion about, rather than one which I hate with the fire of a billion suns. Edit: I'll say it again. Fire. Of a billion suns.
  24. If Lance ends this game in STL's favor, I might throw up before bedtime...and no one wants that.
