  1. Yup, that's our plan as well; just not at opening time. If I have to get up at 6:00 AM, it's not a day off. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. And Jeff Suppan so he can start on Opening Day, in the playoffs, and every fifth critical game in between.
  3. "Emo vampires" does appear to be an oxymoron.
  4. I asked our ticket rep a couple of weeks ago and he reported that it will be December 2-3 (Friday-Saturday), which is consistent with the practice of past years. It's usually Thanksgiving week or the week after before brewers.com has a press release about it.
  5. Those few of you who were in the chat room the night of the Kotsay walkoff (I think a Friday night in July vs. the Reds) know that I vowed to buy a Kotsay t-shirt if he came through in that game. So he did, and I did, and my S.O. wore it to several games with a degree of pride. Now I have to break this news to him. Well, thanks for playing, Mark.
  6. So, you probably don't really want to know that apparently Nyjer Morgan is at least a casual fan of the saga, or at least a fan of being at the red-carpet premiere for the newest movie Monday night in LA. This thread is beginning to feel like a reality show. Or maybe it's the life of Nyjer.
  7. Here's hoping that Matheny does not maintain a cult-like atmosphere in the STL clubhouse. That alone would be an improvement. Components of the TLR era just didn't seem healthy to me. Also, pitching coach Julian Tavarez sounds awesome, as long as it's for another team. He is on the list of top 100 MLB HBP pitchers, which if the TLR cult continues, would fit hand-in-glove. Get it? Hand in glove?
  8. I know I'm not in your fella target audience, but I'd like to point out that while XX chromosomes may turn out to be required (or strongly encouraged) to enjoy this saga, not all XXers fall for them. The S.O. was flipping through channels recently and we had this conversation: hawing: Is this a Twilight movie? SO (hits Info button on remote): Yup. hawing: Are they all pale and brooding? SO: Apparently. And we moved on. Despite my utter absence of interest now, I hate to think how I would have reacted had the saga been created/released 30 years ago. The results could have been different. I think I would have been turned off by the vampire/blood component, but would the romance/brooding have been enough to interest me anyway? The world will never know.
  9. /highfive/ I don't think I've ever been in an Old Navy store, and given the general nature of their commercials, I have no desire to break that streak.
  10. I can't speak for northern Wisconsin, but the first significant snowfall in southern Wisconsin fell today.
  11. It didn't stick much in Madison, but there was a lot of precipitation, and the liquid/ice mostly flew sideways. That was awesome.
  12. Link to Washington Post obituary You know what always creeped me out about the Family Circus? Those ghostly "Ida Know" and "Not Me" characters: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_14J2dEsfIG0/TPM9ZW1Z9BI/AAAAAAAAEeE/pptaQ7NeNfk/s1600/Family%2BCircus%2B11-28-10.gif They look so mean. Not creepy, but ubiquitous to the Circus, were the "dashed line path" comics: http://blog.rifftrax.com/wp-content/uploads/family-circus-monster.jpg I don't want to completely dump on a "good intentions" comic strip...but the Family Circus is just so easy to make fun of. Anyway, RIP to Bil.
  13. That's signature-worthy, except I happen to like my current signature.
  14. Shine a Little Love, OK. But maybe just the instrumental version. I think ELO came to my mind because that thing looks like it would have fit on the set of "Xanadu."
  15. The home run thingy looks like it should be accompanied by ELO music. Maybe Turn to Stone. Jebus.
  16. I thought Freddy at first too, until I read the first post and its reference to a no-hitter. Still, I added a J. to the thread title.
  17. I managed to go a whole month (plus a handful of hours) without noticing this post. Were I a Marlins fan, I'd be (1) rooting for small ball, and (2) wearing shades to every game the Marlins play in the orange uniforms. Including night games.
  18. Earlier in the MP era, you could get four full-season tickets in terrace reserved for the price of two (I think - since there are some terrace ticket treat customers here, I'm sure they will correct me if I'm wrong). I don't think the package is still offered to new customers, but if you've had it all along, you can continue it - not unlike the 40-game half-season packages which the Brewers still occasionally mention in their season ticket policies.
  19. Last off-season I asked our ticket rep, in a nice way, how it's that much better to be upgraded from loge infield to loge diamond box (as simple as row 8 to row 5 in our section). His reply then was that we could exchange loge infield seats for the club too if we wanted. Maybe terrace reserved could move up/down to the bleachers? for a change of pace? We used some of our vouchers in 2011 (mostly in combination with exchanging tickets for a different game) and that was useful a few times, so I won't mind having the chance again. In general, though, since a big part of the reason we make the season ticket commitment is to get the same location, why would we want to move around that often? Just my thinking.
  20. Our renewal packet arrived in today's mail, and with it more minutiae to share: The payment options are almost the same as last year: pay in full by November 18, place a down payment (25% this year, was 20% last year) by 11/18 and pay the rest by Jaunary 13, 2012, or spread the payment over five 20% installments (first due by 11/18, each of the others due by the 18th of the month, December-March). If your account includes unused postseason money, you can apply the unused money to your 2012 account if you wish (or they can refund all unused money). If your postseason credit exceeds the amount due for 2012, they'll apply the remainder to the credit card you used for the postseason. All season accounts paid in full by 11/18 will be entered into drawings for the opportunity to throw out a first pitch, or win a suite, for a 2012 home game. The early payment incentives for full season accounts include: Batting practice opportunity at Miller Park or $70 in food and beverage per seat on your account; Two complimentary Field Diamond Box tickets for a game; Opportunity to purchase additional game tickets at the Existing SSH rate through a special pre-sale; Two complimentary Brewers On Deck tickets. The early payment incentive for partial season accounts is the same choice as in 2011: Four ticket upgrade vouchers per seat on your account or ten single-game NYCE Stadium Club passes per seat on your account. The Brewers will do the "Fantastic Forty" drawing again, and season ticket holders who renew by January 13 will automatically be entered. The 2012 seating/pricing chart, including the new three-tier pricing system for individual games, is not online as of November 5 but is in this packet. I've attempted to post a photo I took of the chart below. It displays for me; hope it displays for you. The hawing ticket locations (terrace box and loge infield box) each went up $2 for existing and new season ticket customers, and for the "blue" individual game rate. The marquee prices for all sections are the same as in 2011. http://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/312962_2549038970994_1404434242_2842720_409586322_n.jpg Finally (for now), the 2012 schedule on the back of the packet includes tentative home game times - 3:10 for Opening Day, in case you wondered - and notes the All-Fan Giveaway dates (all Sundays: April 22, May 13, June 10, July 1, July 29, September 16).
  21. I'll bet he'd be cranky if he knew that I learned of his passing via the Internet.
  22. Dippin' Dots - the ice cream of the future! - has filed for bankruptcy. I can't help but think of all those summer days and nights I walked right by the dippin' dots sales points at Miller Park, or made fun of the "ice cream of the future" ad since the product was invented in 1987. I've never had Dippin' Dots, and now I probably never will. On the up side, maybe this is just the break that Dippin' Dots knockoff and erstwhile MP one-year wonder concession item IttiBitz has been hoping and praying for.
  23. Brewers.com link It's also printed in the Journal Sentinel. It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart.
  24. It's kind of sad that a sentence like the one above even exists, but otherwise it's hilarious.
  25. (bold added by me) He usually if not always mentioned the color of the piping on the teams' uniforms. Small detail, but as a fan of minutiae I was on board with it.
